  1. Summon over Alma: Change Alma Service Page UI language by Summon UI language

For Summon over Alma clients, Summon is the only OPAC for patrons. At present, only 1 direct link rule can be set. The link rule to Alma Service Page has language parameter, but it cannot be set by Summon UI language differently from Primo. We'd like to request that Summon has the feature to set multiple languages parameters by Summon UI language. Currently, from Summon English page results, Alma service page displays Japanese UI. This is inconvenient for English patrons.

  2. add subject and abstracts columns in the upload template

we have some library specific databases for information not available yet (no agreements with the publisher etc.). The titles in these databases have no subject or abstract information. It would be great when this information could be added. (add subject and abstracts columns in the upload template)

  3. Yordam automatic content update at Summon

This is a request to have the possibility to automatically download/upload local content from Yordam to Summon rather than the librarians upload the files manually to Summon FTP. This can be done by a script and for some OPAC, this is already happening e.g, SirsiDynix automatically uploads at Summon. Can this automation be also done for Yordam?

  4. Increase limit on collected search strings in OBI usage statistics

OBI usage statistics keep track of the 200 - 500 search strings per month performed by users. These are available in the Summon Popular Searches report available in OBI.

It would be useful to have access to a more complete list of search strings each month though, in order to perform analysis such as subjects of interest to users or search trends over time.

This enhancement request proposes to increase the amount of search strings recorded. A preferred options would be to allow institutions to set how many search strings would be recorded per month (ie. ranging from none to…

  5. Label Kind of Open Access item linked to

Identify the kind of open access version being linked to -- preprint author submitted copy, same-as-published, post-print, etc. While it may not always matter if the open version of a published work is the same as the peer-reviewed, published version, when it does matter, it can be critical -- especially in health sciences. But it's also important for novice researchers to understand what is "almost published" and what was actually reviewed and published.

  6. Add more journal platforms (American College of Physicians) to Resource Link Prioritization List in Summon

This could go with other journal titles as well. Our institution subscribed to 2 titles through American College of Physicians with pretty extensive holdings. The titles can also be found via our subscription to ProQuest, but with more limited holdings. When users search for a title in Summon, they will only see the ProQuest holdings and then be told we do not carry the resource. I think adding more individual platforms to Resource Link Prioritization list will fix this. Thanks!

  7. Improving the timing of the SpringShare chat prompt appearing in Summon

We're delighted that we could integrate SpringShare Chat functionality into our Summon interface. However, we feel it could be improved by delaying the appearance of the chat prompt message for this functionality on screen.

As you can see from the file, a message appears asking users whether they'd like to chat to one of the Library Team - that's great! - but the speed of which it appears is almost instantaneous and often before users have had chance to look at their results.

Is there any way that you could make a fix for Summon to delay this slightly so…

  9. Refine RTA for Institutional Reporsitories

At present all results for our Institutional repositry have "Full Text Online" as the RTA text. However some of these are not full text at all, just records of book chapters/articles submitted by researchers. This gives a false impression to the end user that there is always full text. It is probably too difficult to create a mapping for all the permutations, but it would be a start to allow the records that belong to the Institutional repository have their own RTA text, such as "View in the Institutional Repository".

  10. Allow the brief results from your catalogue to be configurable

It would be useful if the fields available in the brief results could be configurable. It would be useful to be able to either remove fields altogether, or to at least have labels displaying, such as "Series" , "Pub Date" etc

  11. Display parallel titles in Summon

The correction in Summon to index parallel titles as titles (instead of as subtitles) was welcomed; however, the resulting elimination of parallel titles in search results displays was not. In the current iteration of Summon, which parallel title appears in the catalog is solely left to chance, and whichever appears first in a bibliographic record. However, if Summon can display all other title subfields and information in search results, including subfields B, N and P, it should include parallel title information as well. The lack of parallel titles is problematic for patron search and retrieval. For example, a patron searching…

  12. Filter search results in the Ebook and Journal portal (EJP)

The EJP is a good way to find full text journals by subject area, however, once you have searched or browsed to a subject, there is no way to narrow your search any further except to show only open access titles. It would be helpful to restrict results to recent books or journals with current access, or to peer-reviewed sources, for example.

  13. Use Seamless Access for authentication

Seamless Access is a new tool for Single sign-on authentication, this is how they describe it:

SeamlessAccess enables true Single Sign-On. Your users will be able to sign in using their preferred sign in credentials, and will not be bothered for them again for all SeamlessAccess-enabled sites.

  14. Allow to limit search results by word or page count, or a document length range

This should get rid of minor articles such as might appear when searching in newspapers. Also, it might help in further weeding-out book reviews. Plus, there are times users want articles that discuss an issue in-depth and they don't want a 2-page article from some journal. Conversely, I've helped users who get huge articles from journals who would like to find articles that are just 3-4 pages in length, etc.

  16. There is no way to mass unapply database filters (except by clearing all filters).

When you apply database filters to a search term and then start a new search, those databases still show as selected and you have to untick them one by one. The only way to clear them is either manually or by using "Clear all filters", but that also clears other filters such as fulltext online, etc.

Can we have an option to mass unapply database filters?

  17. Correcting Status of "online-first" Citations

Aggregators, such as EBSCOhost, post articles on their websites only after the publisher adds the content in a journal issue. However, they do not take this information into account when providing their coverage dates.

Because of this issue, citations in Summon for such "online-first" articles (such as the ones at https://www.tandfonline.com/action/showAxaArticles?journalCode=tsri20) may link to an error message if the institution subscribes to the journal via an aggregator and not the publisher.

Since "online-first" records have a publication (SSID) and a publication date, if you subscribe to the journal and the article publication date falls within your dates of coverage,…

  19. About customizing the contents of the simple record displayed at the top of the Summon over Alma service page.

Currently, the contents of the brief record displayed at the top of the Summon over Alma Service Page are not customizable. We would like to be able to define this display freely, as in Primo VE.

For example, in addition to the fields currently displayed, we would like to add Record type, Statement of responsibility (author from 245 $c), Publisher name and place, Series name and number, etc.

Example (parts in brackets are not displayed in current service page)

    [BOOK]
    Winnie-the-Pooh[ / A.A. Milne ; with decorations by Ernest H. Shepard ]
    Milne, A. A. 1882-1956 Alan Alexander; Shepard, Ernest…

  20. Database recommendations based on content type facet

Currently the database recommender is powered by tags (and an algorithm based on the result set?). We would like for the content type facet to also power database recommendations. For example, if the music facet is selected, Naxos is recommended. If the standards facet is selected, Standards Australia is recommended. The new database facet assists with this to a degree, but it is not foolproof.
