  1. Publish_default_mode needs to developed to allow different processes dependent on set criteria

Situation - Currently we are trying to make the majority of our reading lists open access. However, due to departmental and copyright issues. We cant make all lists open access. Therefore, we currently have Publishdefaultmode set to All Students Full. Which means staff manually run sets on a daily basis to find readings lists that have been published and are not from two specific academic departments and run a bulk reading list job to change them to All Students Full, Anyone Restricted.

Solution. We would prefer that the Publishdefaultmode is enhanced to publish lists with different…

  2. Search/filtering of list selection dialog in Primo "Send to Leganto" action

When adding a citation from Primo using the Leganto action object, users are presented with a drop down list of all reading lists they are an owner or collaborator on. This list is sorted from oldest to newest and it's difficult to find the proper list if many are displayed.

Our faculty liaisons and course reserves staff frequently use this tool and may be collaborators on scores or even hundreds of lists that may have similar names. Faculty too, may have multiple lists of the same name if they teach the same course from term to term.

  3. Add MARC field 240 as a new field in Leganto

We have several records representing e-books, which are published as e-books (much) later than when the same content was published as a printed book. The printed book may be published in 2007, the same e-book in 2019, and even if both dates are recorded in the 008-field of the record, this information is not displayed in Leganto. Only the actual publishing year (in our example 2019) is visible to the user. It makes it look like a newer edition, which it is not.
    Ex: https://bibsys-k.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/leganto/readinglist/citation/14473946130002204?institute=47BIBSYS_UBO&auth=SAML

Our case was closed last time (#05336252) but we are now moving to RDA standards,…

  4. Using "Leganto student usage" and noticed that some reading lists/Courses do not appear in this report.

We created a Leganto report with the subject area "Leganto student usage" and noticed that some reading lists do not appear in this report.
We assume that this is because there has not been any student interaction with these lists but there is nothing about this in knowledge center documentation.
We have been having to run separate analytics reports to get all the data we need it.
It would be nice to be able to use the Leganto Student Usage criteria to gather statistics on ALL the reading lists, courses and citations, regardless if they’ve been used or not.

  5. Add "Uploaded file" as availability option in questions

Currently we can have a question appear based on whether a citation is held in print, electronically, or in the digital collection. It would be useful to also have the option of having the question appear based on whether the user has uploaded a file to the item.

Example use case: we configure a question "EU" and it appears when the item has Electronic holdings and the user has also Uploaded the file. This lets us confirm whether they really need both methods, and make sure that copyright clearance is dealt with, which we haven't been able to make work…

  6. Reset X when searching for items in list should reset results to all citations

When using "Search for item in this Reading List", if a term returns a subset of citations, clearing the search term using the X ("Reset") icon in the search box does not return the user to the full list. It only clears the term out of the search box, leaving the limited results. The user has no intuitive path back to the full list, so they often click the back button at the top of the window and exit the list entirely.

Conversely, if the search term returns no results, clicking the X icon does return the user to the…

  7. Automatically update reading list code in Alma

When a list is 'rolled over', the new 'course' created in Alma has the correct code from the LMS e.g. Canvas. The correct code also appears in the 'reading list' in Leganto. However, in Alma the reading list copies the code from the previous year and adds a (1) to the end.
    As an example:
In Alma the course code is: LAWU9CH202223AutumnA
In Leganto the code is LAWU9CH
    202223AutumnA(2022/23)
but in the Reading List in Alma it says LAWU9CH39_2020(1)(1)

It would be much clearer for the reading list in Alma to automatically follow the same…

  8. Sort citations by section in Alma

Most of our institutions use a two-section structure in Leganto, where one section is recommended literature. Citations in this section are not treated the same way by the library as "mandatory citations". Hence the need to sort citations in reading lists by section in Alma.

The feedback we got from an institution is that they would like "Section" to be a filter/dropdown menu where they can choose a specific section, the same way the tag menu works.

  9. Citations' Sticker price

In a webinar recently, the trainer talked about being able to add a sticker price to a Leganto citation. This would allow the ability to generate a more accurate report on savings for students. However, currently this has to be manually entered for every citation. I know eventually we will be able to use the API to add this data, and even though that's better, it's not a great way to utilize the system. My idea is this:
    1) within Alma, citations have an assigned sticker price;
    2) in Leganto, when Instructors pull from these citations, they get that sticker…

  10. Add a simpler method of updating the number of participants on courses (in bulk)

Although the API and Course loader options exist, the mandatory requirement to have a course ID and Course Name using the full CL template and the unwieldiness of the course loader profile SFTP etc for non technical staff suggests that it would be beneficial to add a simpler method for staff to manually update course participant numbers in bulk (i.e. a simple upload of 2 columns Course ID and Number of participants). Appreciate campus functionality, but for situations where no enrolment loader is possible, but regular updates are possible it would save much manual entry to just be able to…

  11. Review how the Alma course load/reading list rollover job works

We run Leganto Rollover through Alma every year. It has been increasingly more difficult as the job takes longer each year.

Can we please request that rollover process be re-evaluated in general. But specifically in the time it takes to process.

We need the rollover to run in one day if possible. It seems that if rollover uses a large input file it takes a very long time. It's becoming unmanageable for our users as currently one load job is taking over 48 hours.

We'd like it to be simplified in general. Obviously we are all different and each site…

  12. Keep deleted citation records in the system

When we remove a citation record the system delete it without any historical information.

It would be very useful to mantain the information about the deleted citations (and be able to collect this information with Analytics, as is currently the case with bibliographic records) to perform tasks on the documents physically, like changing items location or removing stickers...

  13. Display whether citation appears on another list

Previously there was a feature that displayed whether a citation existed on another reading list, with some limited functionality, e.g. only displaying if the other list was also on your My Lists page and the citation was an Alma repository item. This feature was taken away by Product Management in January 2022. We have received feedback from instructors that they would like to know when a citation is in use on any other list at the institution, including those not taught by them and where courses are not currently active (but lists are Published). This ensures they are not duplicating…

  14. Hide misleading 'Available in Formats' status in Search Results

When searching Summon, via 'Add Items', it shows eBooks as available just because an ebook exists, and not necessarily because we own it - this can be misleading. It updates once the item is added to the Reading List, but should only show formats that are available or not show any format detail at all until the book has been added. In the example shown, we only own a print copy - but the results make it look like we own the e.

  15. Restrict Tags to specific Material Types

It would be really great if tags could be restricted to specific material types.
We are using tags that are e.g. only applicable for books and e-books but not websites etc. but still show up for those types, too.

  16. Enable tags generated by questions to set item status

Currently the "revert_citation_status_by_adding_tags" options have no effect on citations that are tagged as a result of a question. This is because when the instructor answers the question and clicks "Confirm", first the tags are added, and then the citation is actually created.

Our use case is that if the instructor selects a certain answer, we want to apply a tag and based on that tag apply an automatic citation status ReadyForProcessing to ensure it appears in the tasklist for library staff.

A possible solution is to reverse the order of operations when the instructor clicks confirm: first create the citation…

  18. Display more course details when pushing to Leganto from Primo

Instructors often teach the same subjects which are rolled over each new semester. This results in a long list of indistinguishable lists in the Push to Leganto feature since it only displays the list name.

Please provide configuration options for displaying course details alongside the list name, including course code, term and year. Institutions should be able to decide which of these course details to display in the Push to Leganto feature.

See attached for an example of how it might look.

  19. Add a refresh option (or auto-refresh) to My Collection when adding an item to a list

Currently if you try to add an item to a reading list using the Add item/My collection option in the right-hand pane, there is no refresh option (unlike in My Collection proper which does have at least a refresh button. If users add items using cite it or push to my Collection from Primo, the list is not updated automatically and so it appears that the My Collection is not correctly updating.
Adding a refresh would ensure the option shows all added resources as soon as they are available.

  20. Broken Link improvements

Currently there is no way to directly contact the original person reporting the broken link (student/lecturer) to let them know the link has been fixed and is available. We would expect the reporter to be notified when a fix has happened, without a notification they will have no idea when a broken link is accessible, or if it can’t be fixed.

At Imperial we have one Library team who checks and fixes broken links (Acquisitions) and a different team (liaison librarians) who would contact the original person reporting the broken link (student/lecturer) to let them know the link has been…
