Better analytics for resource recommender to tell how many times recommendation is triggered and how often it is clicked
The resource recommender can be a very new tool to help improve the user experience of searchers.
However without proper analytics it is hard to tell if all the effort done to create them have had an impact.
Hence it would be helpful to have data like
Analytics that tell staff
a) How often a recommendation is triggered or most common recommendations shown
b) How often a recommendation is clicked

An indication for when resource recommender was triggered, is already available in Analytics since May 2020 Primo release.
Thank you.

Please clarify (even if it's closed) - the idea is suggesting click statistics for individual resource recommender records but the current documentation and the subject area appears to only show statistics by RR category, not the items within. yael's response seems to suggest otherwise, that the ability already exists. I agree, Sandra.
We have a single recommendation under the Library Guide type, and it is extremely useful to see now when it appears, as well as the clicks.
For example, in the first week of the new action for appearance, we could see that it had been clicked more than 53% of the time that it was generated, and in June it is up to 69%
This is a clear sign of value.
If we could watch this data when introducing a new recommendation by specific entry, we could see if it was really a useful entry to retain, because the recommender block is key real estate at the top of a result list and very large, especially on mobile.
So, if there is low value by % clicks, we would likely remove it.
But this ability to discern value is immediately removed if we add another of the same type. -

I would like to see the list of recommenders by their key in Primo Analytics. A simple list by key with their "action" or click.
I can only generate analytics based on the recommender type: eg database or website.
Ideally, I would like to know which specific recommender is actually being clicked on. If each recommender has their own key which is based on their display name, then hopefully you could generate a report that would display the key by their type.
Thanks for considering. Sandra.

Agree with all of these points. It's great to see Resource Recommender clicks going up with our recent efforts, but we also need to ensure these clicks are actually fulfilling their needs. Knowing which queries lead to clicks would help us focus our efforts.

I really like resource recommender but agree that without better analytics it is difficult to tell how I can improve them for my patrons. Which ones do they use the most and least and what are they entering to bring them up?
