Easily share records in Social Media
When sharing a record in social media (Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.) using the Full Display page's URL - it would be better to see in the preview the Name, Description, Domain, and Thumbnail of the record that has been shared.
Please see the attached PDF file for a detailed example.
47 votesThank you for posting this idea. By adding Open Graph meta-tags to Primo Full Display page, Social Media crawlers can use this information to display a preview for Primo link once it is shared.

Collapse Advanced Search
When using advanced search it would be ideal to collapse the search box header area so users can see the results right away without scrolling. Most user's screen resolutions are small and they aren't aware if the search was executed without having to scroll down the page. By collapsing the advance search area after the search is executed then the users be able to see the results.
23 votesThank you for this idea. The search results now are more visible to users in the Advanced Search, especially for tablets and small laptops. Primo and Primo VE automatically collapses the Advanced Search form, triggered by a search or a click on hypertext link, allowing the users to view the search results and the search summary line. If needed, users can expand the Search Criteria form.

Warn user to sign in when saving to favorites
Primo (new UI) does not alert the user to sign in in order to save favorites. I suggest that when a user who has not logged in clicks the pushpin icon to save an item to Favorites, a modal appear to let them know they must sign in to save favorites, and give them an opportunity to do so.

Collection Discovery: search in all sub-collections
We would like to allow the user to use the Collection Discovery interface also for discovery. Currently, it is only possible to search at the collection level. It is important to enabling a search across all levels of all collections as the user cannot know in which collection/sub-collections to search for needed items.
Following are a couple of user stories:
* We have various collections of photos. We would like to allow the user to search across the various collections and sub-collections for the pictures of the Knossos temple. We have relevant photos in two different sub-collections.
* We would…68 votesWe are not providing users option to search across All Collections from the Collection Lobby and also users are being prompt to expand search to all collections from a specific Collection page.

Bib MARC field 505$t should be indexed in the Primo PNX file as a title entry
The MARC 505$r is indexed in the PNX as Creator and contributor. The MARC 505$t is not similarly indexed in the PNX as an added or alternate title.
167 votesThank you for posting this idea. with the Primo VE June 2021 release Primo VE will index the 505 $t as well. This will be gradual rolled out pending the semi-annual indexing process planned to be completed by August.

Provide option in Primo VE customization to use Alma's preferred name fields in My Library Card
The My Library Card display in Primo VE should have a configuration option to use the preferred names fields in Alma user accounts, if those fields are populated, instead of only being configured to use the first/last name fields. This will be helpful for institutions that use SIS loads to populate user data and the patrons have included preferred name data in addition to legal name data.
45 votesThank you for this idea, This is now available in Primo BE – the user’s dispaly name is aligned with the way ALMA displays the user name, considering also the user’s preferred name fields.

Improve navigation behaviour for Contextual Relationships
With the current May 2019 design for related items by contextual relationships, when a user finishes looking at the related items and wants to the return to their search results, they are returned to the very top of the result list.
The only time this doesn’t happen is if they have used the pagination widget to navigate by page selection.
This is an extremely poor experience if the user has spent time working their way through a result list, and may be several pages deep, only to find that they have completely lost their place in the list.
Ex Libris…
4 votesThank you for posting this idea. The new pagination method should solved this scenario by letting you to go back to the page you have last visited.

It would be extremely helpful it we could search Primo VE by item barcode. We often want to quickly locate a bib record in Primo and scanning a barcode is the simplest and quickest search.

My Favorites: while pinning item, allow user to choose label
When a user pins an item to My Favorites from the search results or detail view, the item goes to My Favorites without a label. Users would like to choose the label at the time they pin it.
Otherwise, they have to pin things, then go into My Favorites and go through all the things they just pinned a second time. By this time the user may not recall the specific reason they pinned it. We would like My Favorites to work similar to Pinterest and other similar tools, where the user can assign a tag/label as they are pinning,…
22 votesThank you for this suggestion. With the Primo & Primo VE November 2019 release , signed in user can add & label bulk of items to My Favorites.

Improve logic for Consortial/AFN and ILL requests
If all holdings across the Network Zone (NZ) are unavailable, we want to be able to suppress the option to place a Consortial loan request (ie. a resource sharing request in an automated fulfillment network), thus directing the user to ILL.
165 votesAs of the August 2022 release, it is possible to configure the Primo request form not only to indicate whether there are known partners that can fulfill the request, but also to prevent submitting the form if indeed no known partners have been found.

Include the 776 field in ISBN matching when deduping books
Deduping of books would be improved if the deduping algorithm included the 776 field in ISBN matching. Currently, the algorithm only checks the 020 field for ISBN. In many cases, an electronic version of a book has the print ISBN in the 776 field, which would allow for a match of the electronic 776 to the print 020. The February VE release included an improvement that allowed the 776 field to be used when matching journal ISSNs, but it is still not being used when matching book ISBNs.

Primo VE: add peer-reviwed and open access facet values to local records
In Primo VE you can add an OpenAccess indicator to the records, but it should also be possible to add a value (bases on normalization routines) that includes these records into the OA facet value in the top-level facets, so they are included when using this filter. This option should apply to both Alma records and external data records.
The same normalization option should be available for the Peer-reviewed indicator and facet value
142 votesThank you for this suggestion. you can define Peer Reviewed and Open Access facet in local catalog more details can be found in Primo VE August and June release notes

Display more than 10 locations in PRIMO VE
We are using bch scheme and when a bibliographic record has more than 10 locations, PRIMO only shows 10, even though the results are limited to one library.
For example, there are one item in our Medical Library, but it doesn't show. https://granatensis.ugr.es/discovery/fulldisplay?docid=alma991014023258604990&context=L&vid=34CBUA_UGR:VU1&search_scope=MyInstitution&tab=Granada&lang=es16 votesThank you for posting this idea. Primo Analytics - add the ability to generate Primo Send To menu Citation Style usage
Idea: Add the ability to generate usage statistics for each of the Citation Styles which display in the Primo Send to menu.
Currently it is possible to report on the number of times the Citation option is selected from the Primo Send to menu.
However it is not possible to track usage for each of the citation styles e.g. APA, Harvard, Oxford, etc.
Use case:
The ability to track usage for each style to:
- Determined the order of citation styles in the display (from most popular to least popular).
- To determine which options should continue be offered to our patrons…
48 votesThank you for this idea. Primo Analytics now tracks the number of times each citation style is clicked by its position in the Citation action
Please refer to Support Usage Information for the Order of Citation Styles in Primo February release notes, coming soon in Primo VE March. -
Display of consortium e-resource coverage
Consortium partner library's e-resource coverage and public notes should be displayed in Primo VE.
When searching Primo VE in consortium environment with Search Profile "DiscoveryNetwork", coverage of e-resource licensed by the consortium partner library (not by the consortium) is not displayed. Only bib record (in NZ) is displayed.
Currently, no information about e-resource holdings of consortium partner library is displayed and users will not be able to notice that the partner library subscribed to this e-journal. If they noticed, they could access to this e-journal as walk-in users visiting the partner library or request copies of articles through Interlibrary Loan.

Add "Back to results list" when a document has several editions
We would like to propose an improvement to the search results for end-users in Primo. Our suggestion is to have an easier way to get back to the search results list if a document has several editions.
Currently, if a user opens a document that has several editions/versions, they have to reset their active search filters (“List of editions/versions”) in order to go back their original search results list. Our suggestion is to have a button that says “Back to results list” instead. In addition, we propose that when returning to the results list, the user returns to the same…
227 votesThank you for this idea. Navigation has been improved on the List of Versions page by adding a Back to Results Lists link . This is available in VE July 2021 release and in Primo August 2021 .

Customizable Collection Discovery according to PrimoVE views
It'll be great if, according to the view, you can see specific collections displayed in the Collection Discovery.

Available Online link should be configurable to link directly to full text from full item record page, not just brief results list
We would like it so the green Available Online link on the item record could be made to link directly to the full text, since we have the green available online link to go directly to full text on the results list (direct linking turned on).
128 votesThank you for this feedback , this is now part of the November 2022 release - see Provide Direct Linking from Full Record in the release notes.
