1. Collection Discovery display items in a list view

   Currently Collection Discovery only offers users the ability to view collections as a Grid or a Gallery. These displays provide extremely limited information about the items making it impossible for users to decide which items they'd like to view.
   Please add the ability for users to view collection items as a list, similar to the search results view. This list view would present each record one after the other with basic bibliographic information such as title, author/creator, resource type, date.

2. Collapse Advanced Search

   When using advanced search it would be ideal to collapse the search box header area so users can see the results right away without scrolling. Most user's screen resolutions are small and they aren't aware if the search was executed without having to scroll down the page. By collapsing the advance search area after the search is executed then the users be able to see the results.

   Thank you for this idea. The search results now are more visible to users in the Advanced Search, especially for tablets and small laptops. Primo and Primo VE automatically collapses the Advanced Search form, triggered by a search or a click on hypertext link, allowing the users to view the search results and the search summary line. If needed, users can expand the Search Criteria form.

3. Primo VE: Need for new ‘Discovery Manager’ roles

   Create Discovery Manager roles and give customers the possibility to assign Discovery roles to colleagues who are in charge of specific content updates in the front end (notably Tag management, Resource Recommender management, Primo Central Index activations/deactivations) and who are not necessarily Primo administrators. For more flexibility and granularity, different roles (or parameters to add?) should be created. For example, a staff user in charge of Resource Recommender management should not necessarily have access to PCI activations.

   Subject and reference librarians could directly work in Alma in order to keep recommended resources, tags and PCI collections updated; tasks where traditional Primo administrator skills are not required. Currently, a single 'Discovery – Admin’ role concentrates too many responsibilities and functionalities.

4. Primo Analytics - add the ability to generate Primo Send To menu Citation Style usage

   Idea: Add the ability to generate usage statistics for each of the Citation Styles which display in the Primo Send to menu.

   Currently it is possible to report on the number of times the Citation option is selected from the Primo Send to menu.

   However it is not possible to track usage for each of the citation styles e.g. APA, Harvard, Oxford, etc.

   Use case:

   The ability to track usage for each style to:

   • Determined the order of citation styles in the display (from most popular to least popular).
   • To determine which options should continue be offered to our patrons and which should be removed.
   • To prioritise / plan staff tasks. For instance we are gradually replacing the Primo EasyBib styles with CSL/GitHub styles. This is quite a time consuming process due to the amount of testing required. We would like to work on the most popular styles first but are not certain what these are.

6. Export search results to Excel (or delimited file)

   When a user gets several hundred search results, they would like to be able to download a list of the entire search results. This is a feature that faculty routinely use. They may then have a faculty assistant check out some of the books.

   There is no way in Primo to capture an entire set of search results and do anything with it, such as export.

   The ability to export a set of search results was a feature in the Aleph OPAC. There is no feature parity in Primo. Users have already noted the lack of this feature.

7. My Favorites: while pinning item, allow user to choose label

   When a user pins an item to My Favorites from the search results or detail view, the item goes to My Favorites without a label. Users would like to choose the label at the time they pin it.

   Otherwise, they have to pin things, then go into My Favorites and go through all the things they just pinned a second time. By this time the user may not recall the specific reason they pinned it. We would like My Favorites to work similar to Pinterest and other similar tools, where the user can assign a tag/label as they are pinning, which is when they know why they want to save the item for later. If they can't do it while they are pinning, they will have to perform additional actions later to assign labels, and try to recall why they pinned the item at the earlier time.

   USE CASE: A user is reviewing a result list. They want to pin items that they want to use now for part 1 of a paper, and pin items that they want to use later for part 2 of a paper, which is due later in the semester. The user pins items while reviewing the result list, but cannot assign labels at that time. After pinning items from the result list, they have to go to My Favorites and add labels for items they already decided they want, and have to then remember whether they wanted them for Part 1 of their paper or Part 2.

   When a user pins an item to My Favorites from the search results or detail view, the item goes to My Favorites without a label. Users would like to choose the label at the time they pin it.

8. Separate the Audiovisual facet for Primo Central Index (PCI) into video and audio

   Users doing targeted searches incorporating facets to find specific types of resources on specific topics want to be able to do just that - target. Our users tell us that their searches are made more difficult by having to sift through a long list of irrelevant format results, including Video when they just want Audio, and Audio when they want only Video. This is even more frustrating for users when they can see by the display type that the list could so easily have been made shorter.

   Remote PCI resources under the Resource Type of facets:rsrctype of media and Prefilter of facets:prefilter of audio_video already have granularity of data in the PNX to separate these into video and audio by display:type, display:rsrctype, display:recordtype, and addata:ristype of video or sound.

   This data should be used to separate the current combined resource type and prefilter facet into separate entities.

9. New UI: Set automatically the cursor in the search box

   Hello,

   A feature that many users would like to see in the Primo new UI is to have the cursor already in the search box when they open the page. The user would be able to type directly their query and not have to click first in the search box. In the Primo classic UI, the cursor was already in the search box.

   The SF case 00508525 was about the same issue.

10. Ability to select/set preferred record criteria for dedupe/FRBR in Primo VE

    We have instances where records for print materials in our holdings are combined with records for e-resources, to display a single record with multiple access points in our catalog. That is good and expected. However, often the source record is an e-resource record rather than the record for our physical holding, and we would prefer that the record for our physical resource be used so that important local notes are sure to be displayed. When the record for an e-resource is used instead, our local notes are not displayed, and that is a big problem.

11. Make facets sticky by default for the session

    I would like to suggest that Primo's facets should be sticky by default (or at least that this should be a configuration option). The "Reset filters" link right below the selected filters implies that filters will stick unless reset; users find this confusing. I agree with other posters' points about the lock icon being visible at all times, and that a selection of New Search should automatically clear sticky facets, but otherwise, I would like to propose that facets should stick unless the user either selects New Search, or clicks "Reset filters" (perhaps this could be renamed "Clear filters"). This is how PubMed functions, with an additional notification at the top of results that selected filters will remain in place until the user clears them.

    I would like to suggest that Primo's facets should be sticky by default (or at least that this should be a configuration option).     Thank you for this suggestion, this is part of the improve sticky facets behavior released in May for both Primo and Primo VE.

12. Separate language menu

    In August release 2018, there is finally a good improvement in the sign in area, but unfortunately the language selection is now inside a personal menu. If guests user enters Primo which by default is not in his native language, they wouldn't know what to do. There is a nice solution created by Manneheim University, and I hope Exlibris will take it as an example:

13. Allow users to choose how many results to see

    With a lot of online retail sites, users are able to choose how many search hits they see per page.

    Would this be a helpful addition to Primo?

    After all, since the new UI was introduced, the subject of infinite-scrolling vs paging has been contentious amongst Ex Libris customers. It has already led to the addition of the 'Next Page' widget.

    Allowing users to choose how many hits they would like to see might take a lot of the debate from us, and put the decision directly into the hands of the end user.

    Thank you for this suggestion. With the new pagination method released in Primo May release, Primo VE June release , users will be able to set the number of results to 10, 25 or 50.

14. Utilize LDR and MARC fixed fields (006,007,008) in Primo VE resource type configuration

    Currently it's not possible to utilize LDR and MARC fixed fields (006,007,008) in Primo VE resource type configuration. It would be helpful, if regular expressions could be used to utilize these fields. That way facets could be created for DVDs, Blu-Ray discs and streaming video etc. without workarounds, using standard cataloging.

    There is a similar idea already posted for Advanced Search, but we were advised by Ex Libris to list this separately.

15. Include the 776 field in ISBN matching when deduping books

    Deduping of books would be improved if the deduping algorithm included the 776 field in ISBN matching. Currently, the algorithm only checks the 020 field for ISBN. In many cases, an electronic version of a book has the print ISBN in the 776 field, which would allow for a match of the electronic 776 to the print 020. The February VE release included an improvement that allowed the 776 field to be used when matching journal ISSNs, but it is still not being used when matching book ISBNs.

16. Display more than 10 locations in PRIMO VE

    We are using bch scheme and when a bibliographic record has more than 10 locations, PRIMO only shows 10, even though the results are limited to one library.

17. Display of consortium e-resource coverage

    Consortium partner library's e-resource coverage and public notes should be displayed in Primo VE.

    When searching Primo VE in consortium environment with Search Profile "DiscoveryNetwork", coverage of e-resource licensed by the consortium partner library (not by the consortium) is not displayed. Only bib record (in NZ) is displayed.

    Currently, no information about e-resource holdings of consortium partner library is displayed and users will not be able to notice that the partner library subscribed to this e-journal. If they noticed, they could access to this e-journal as walk-in users visiting the partner library or request copies of articles through Interlibrary Loan.

18. Local fields for all MARC tags

    Currently local Primo VE fields can only be created for a small set of MARC fields (009, 09X, 490, 5XX, 69X, and 9XX). I don't see a reason for this limitation. I want to be able to use ALL MARC tags for local fields.

    Thank you for posting this idea. This feature is now available in primo VE for MARC21 format (June 2019) and UNIMARC format (August 2019).

19. Improve navigation behaviour for Contextual Relationships

    With the current May 2019 design for related items by contextual relationships, when a user finishes looking at the related items and wants to the return to their search results, they are returned to the very top of the result list.

    The only time this doesn’t happen is if they have used the pagination widget to navigate by page selection.

    This is an extremely poor experience if the user has spent time working their way through a result list, and may be several pages deep, only to find that they have completely lost their place in the list.

    Ex Libris have described this as expected behaviour given Primo is not really loading pages, but just showing more of the result list when prompted by Load More Results.

    While this is understandable from a system perspective, the user interface is for the user after all and the ideal is for a streamlined, functional, and ultimately even pleasurable experience of discovery, which the current design is not.

    A user should always be returned to the same place in the list as where they left it.

    See attached for an example workflow leading to a very unhappy and frustrated researcher.

20. My Library Card - Display Renew icon for all loans (New UI)

    There is no Renew icon for the loans that can't be renewed in Primo now.It made library patrons puzzled when they can't renew some loans, Because they can't find the Renew Icon.It would be very useful to display the Renew icon for all loans.When the loans can't be renewed,the icon can be another one and the patrons would be prompted for the reason.

    Thank you for posting this idea. This feature was released in August for Primo and PrimoVE users
