Local fields for all MARC tags
Currently local Primo VE fields can only be created for a small set of MARC fields (009, 09X, 490, 5XX, 69X, and 9XX). I don't see a reason for this limitation. I want to be able to use ALL MARC tags for local fields.
Thank you for posting this idea. This feature is now available in primo VE for MARC21 format (June 2019) and UNIMARC format (August 2019).

I think the documentation is really misleading, see AMP's comment from July 31, 2019.

I agree with Lukas Koster.
The cited Ex-libris documentation (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/025Display_Configuration/040Configuring_Local_Display_and_Search_Fields_for_Primo_VE#Adding_a_Local_Field), says:
MARC21: 009, 09X, 490, 5XX, 69X, and 9XX
UNIMARC: 300 - 308, 310 - 318, 320 - 328, 330 - 338, 340 - 348, 350 - 358, 360 - 368, 370 - 378, 380 - 388, 609, 619, 629, 639, 649, 659, 669, 679, 689, 69X, and 9XX .These are NOT all UNIMARC fields.
It's very important to have all the UNIMARC fields available as local field, because not all of them are mapped out-of-the box (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/050Other_Configuration/Mapping_to_the_Display%2C_Facets%2C_and_Search_Sections_in_the_Primo_VE_Record#UNIMARC)
For example: the 676 tag is NOT out-of-the-box, and can NOT be added even as local field, because it is not included in the proposed local fields. In order to use them, we need to create (with other normalization rules in the MD Editor) 9xx fields in the bibliographic record. This is a hard (and non-sense) job
We therefore ask that ALL UNIMARC fields be available for Local Fields.
In general, we ask for more attention for UNIMARC customers, because Primo VE has got many problems with UNIMARC metadata (while it seems to be ok for MARC 21)

Additional information following the comments:
Primo VE supports the creation of local fields from any MARC tag. This is allowed by using the normalization rule in the local field configuration (second tab 'Normalization Rule for display').
You can see more information about how to use the Normalization Rule option in: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/025Display_Configuration/040Configuring_Local_Display_and_Search_Fields_for_Primo_VE#Adding_a_Local_Field.Regarding the new ability planned for June 2019:
1. The same concept of using Normalization Rule for display will be available for search and facet, so you will be able to use any MARC tag for search and facet too. Note that this setup will require re-indexing of the data (which now isn't required when you create local field from the local MARC fields).
2. This ability will be supported for MARC21 and UNIMARC. UNIMARC support will be quite after MARC21 release, planned for August 2019. -

We must have UNIMARC support for Italy, France, etc.

Hello
I would want to emphasize this request of my french colleagues, as we need creation of search and facet local fields from any UNIMARC tags. Indeed, we must manage with frequently changes of the rules of UNIMARC in France. We would want also to modify the mapping of the tags of search, facet and link sections too, as it is the cas for display section today.

I agree with my Clermont University colleague: we need support for unimarc also in France, otherwise many institutions would be reluctant to adopt Primo VE here.

Good news Chaniy but will this improvement also affect UNIMARC? We need that

What does "now" mean? I still can't create local fields for display for all MARC tags.

Hi, I understand that these planned enhancement are only concerning Marc21, but not unimarc fields: can you confirm that?

Further argumentation: for MARC tags that are mapped to Display Fields, it is not possible to define them as Search indexes or Facets. With the ability to create Local Fields for all MARC tags, this would become possible too.

Argumentation: in Primo VE there is a fixed mapping between MARC tags and Display fields. Not all MARC tags are available as Display Fields. If all MARC tags would be available for Local Fields, than you could fix this locally according to your own needs.
