Applying Group by Library function to specific resource type
The April 2022 new function to be able to group locations by library is great, though we would like to apply this only to journals.
For example, when three libraries each hold a certain book, turning on this feature will force patrons to extra click to see the items. Also, it is very inconvenient because availability is not displayed on the library (first appearing) list. We would like to apply it only to journals, as this would be effective for journals that have many volumes and separate locations.16 votes -
Allow patrons to submit ratings on records
We would like our (identified) patrons to be able to add a rating on each record, for example on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. This rating would be saved and displayed to all users on the full display of the record. A facet would be then allow to select records according to their rating.

Additional Function:Excludes unnecessary resource types in Specialized Search Scopes for CDI
■Idea
When configuring "Specialized Search Scopes for CDI" https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/Primo_VE_(English)/040Search_Configurations/010Configuring_Search_Profiles_for_Primo_VE
in Primo VE, currently only 5 CDI resource types can be selected, so we want to change the system that unnecessary resource types can be excluded.■Context
Regarding "Exclude eBooks from CDI Results - Phase 2 (NERS #6702)", In Phase 1, all books were excluded from search, but after Phase 2, some books remain in the search results. To exclude books for this reasons,we would like to set the "Specialized Search Scopes for CDI" with limited number of CDI resource types.
But the maximum number of resource types that can be…16 votes -
In Primo VE, in the Get It service in full record display
In Primo VE, in the Get It service in full record display add real-time availability summary, for example: (4 copies, 1 available, 0 requests) to the OTB top level display for each Location.
Currently, the user has to click on the Location to see availability information.
This development would bring VE in step with Primo.15 votes -
Primo VE mobile website - ease of customization
It would be great if there was an 'out of the box' view of Primo that enabled mobile access (via smartphone or small tablet) without needing to modify CSS.
Users are increasingly accessing Primo from their mobile devices, and the standard interface does not allow for this type of functionality.15 votes -
Quicklink display options on full record
In Primo VE, any quicklinks associated with records show both at the top of the full record display and in the Links section of the record. CSS can be used to hide quicklinks from the Links section, but often results in a blank Links section on the record.
It would be helpful to have options to show quicklink at the top of the full record display, but hide them from the Links section. This would help improve the usefulness of the Links section of the record.

Make Primo VE search box placeholder text customizable by search profile/scope
Placeholder text within the Primo VE search box (Search Tiles Labels table > nui.search.placeholder) can be customized by View by adding a new label that includes the name of the specific view. However, it would be most helpful if the search placeholder text could also be customized by search scope or profile, so that when the user selects a different option within the same view the placeholder text changes. Brief instructions/examples for searching could then be included for each profile/scope, greatly enhancing the user search experience by identifying the kind of content included or the best way to search.

Browse by government document call number
Currently, we don't have the option of browsing call numbers in the 086 field in Primo VE. This is a problem for the many libraries who work with government documents and use government documents call number schemes. Being able to search for single call numbers doesn't help for tasks where you need a list ordered by call numbers (like taking inventory, weeding, and assigning new call numbers). Please add a government documents call number browse index.

Show printed holdings in brief display when both printed and electronic exist
When having articles with both printed and electronic holdings the printed holdings doesn't get displayed in Brief Display until you click to the Full Display. If you then return to Brief Display you will see the printed holdings. Look at screencast: https://www.screencast.com/t/6v3E0HBQ The printed holdings should be displayed directly in Brief Display without having to click to full display.

Make databases categories field distinguished by institution also for searching
In consortial environment, if the label of a database category assigned in IZ A for a database AAA is the same in IZ B but for another database BBB, this database BBB is also found in IZ A.
Using different local extensions per each IZ doesn't help.
As categories usually are defined with generic names that are used in several IZs, this funtionality is not usable as is in consortial environment.14 votes -
Ability to boost newer editions as 5 publication dates does not do this job well.
Currently we have older editions showing above newer editions in Primo VE. It would be helpful to be able to boost editions by the number of the edition. Currently the date boost has only 5 possible options in Primo VE. This means you can only add 5 separate years to regulate newer editions showing above old ones. Uses date ranges doesn't work as the edition between the range get same boost. Either you need to increase the number of date boost entries or create an ability to boost by edition.

Quotation marks: align the behavior of Alma and CDI records
When using quotation marks in a search, Alma and CDI records behave differently:
CDI records:
« » → not considered for the search
„ “ → considered for the search only for some languages
“ ” → considered for the search only for some languages
" " → considered for the searchFor local records:
« » → not considered for the search
„ “ → not considered for the search
“ ” → not considered for the search
" " → considered for the searchWith this idea exchange we propose to align the behavior of Alma and CDI…

Have the sort order for libraries affect the pickup location order in Primo
There is currently a library sort order in Discovery for Primo VE. Our wish was to have the main campus appear first and then the branches. However we discovered that while we have options to try sorting by IP or by a custom order, this configuration does not apply to the request screen - pickup location order. We confirmed this with a ticket, and develop noted that only the alphabetical order applies to this area. We believe, it would be helpful to allow libraries with multiple libraries to put the main library at the top as that is the one…

Separating Scholarly and Peer Reviewed facets in the PCI
As a former Summon library, we are lamenting that there used to be separate facets in Summon for Scholarly and for Peer-reviewed articles - as not all peer-reviewed content is scholarly. Ex Libris has responded to my Salesforce inquiry that there are no current plans to separate this content into separate facets, but the idea may be considered for the CDI roadmap.

Primo VE: ability to search without search expansion and to display a link to include expanded terms if desired
Currently if the search expansion with controlled vocabulary feature is switched on in Primo VE, the search expansion is automatically included in the search by default and the user has to click to remove the expanded terms from their search. It would be beneficial to have the ability to have the feature switched on, but with the expansion not included by default and for the user to be able to include the expanded terms if desired.

Primo VE's API Favorites should return the "saved searches" on an user
Primo VE's API Favorites (/primo/v1/favorites, GET) is currently returning the favorite records that an user has saved into his account.
But an user also have saved searches on his account. The API is not returning those searches. It would be helpful to get them in the API results...

Ability to merge local data with cdi records
We currently export Imperial Open Access Spiral material to CDI and Primo VE. This means in Primo VE we show duplicate records for all our Open Access Spiral Records. One from the local source and one from CDI. This is not the best user experience. It is also confusing for library staff working on Spiral Records in Primo VE.

Fulfillment Network - Restrict the ordering of books from the other institution when there are books loanable in the home organization
*This is for the Fulfillment Network, not AFN.
We are in a small consortium, just two institutions. Now we are trying to use direct requesting function of the Fulfillment Network, not AFN. In this case, we found that there is no option which restricts the ordering of books from the other institution when there are books loanable in the home organization.13 votes
