Primo VE: ability to search without search expansion and to display a link to include expanded terms if desired
Currently if the search expansion with controlled vocabulary feature is switched on in Primo VE, the search expansion is automatically included in the search by default and the user has to click to remove the expanded terms from their search. It would be beneficial to have the ability to have the feature switched on, but with the expansion not included by default and for the user to be able to include the expanded terms if desired.

As others said, the "Expansion" changes the ranking and introduce terms that the user did not choose. However its a pity that the alternative it to turn it off. The user should be able to configure this behavior.

I agree -- sometimes when a patron enters title words in the basic search with the expansion turned on, there are so many "expansion" matches that the desired title is pushed to page 2 or 3 of the results, which is confusing for patrons. It would make more sense to them if they did a search and didn't find what they were looking for to then have the option to expand their search using the controlled vocabulary.
