How can we improve Alma?

  1. Invalid email address list or failed to be sent notifications

    We would like Alma to indicate somewhere (in a report, in the user account or else) if an email was not delivered to a patron or a vendor due to an invalid address. This would help to locate them faster and correct this data.
    Otherwise, we would like to have a list by Alma institution of users / vendor accounts with invalid email addresses.

    Dear community,

    Thanks for raising this idea.

    The conceptual solution which is currently being evaluated, is to allow customers that do not use their own email server to set the email address they wish all the bounced emails to get to, by setting it in the existing "SMTP EnvelopeFrom address" field in the "Mail Handling" integration-profile, in a special way (which will be explained in the documentation). This way, the customer that has access to their email, will be able to view all the bounced emails.

  2. Add a linking job for mass linking of NZ records to IZ

    Currently the only way to use records from NZ in an IZ is to search them in the NZ and perform an action like "order" or "link" on every single record one by one. There are, however, situations where an IZ wants to use a bulk of records. For this purpose we need a possibility to link records in bulk and create inventory for the linked records.

  3. Timeout should be configurable

    Timeout should be configurable to allow for longer timeout than 60 min. This would be helpful for staff who work for example in areas like information services where you need to use Alma several times during the day but not continuously

    Dear community,

    Thanks for raising this idea.

    The conceptual solution which is currently being evaluated, is to allow the user to choose/control the desired timeout session period from 4 options (in minutes) - 60 (current, and default) , 90, 120 or 150.

    This reflects a potential increase of up to 250% in session timeout period.

  4. Please add the ability to use the facets for Archival Materials according to LDR pos. 8 = a

    Hello,

    Most archival materials are cataloged as follows:
    LDR pos. 6 = p
    LDR pos. 8 = a
    Currently, the facet in Alma show these kind of materials as "Undefined".
    Adding a facet of "Achieve Material" according to LDR pos.8 = a, would be very useful.

    Hi. 1. Are you stating that you want a new “Resource Type”?

    3. Do you want a new row in this table which would be as follows?

    4. The table is read top to bottom and as soon as match is found it stops. Where in the table would you like this new row to appear?
    5. How come the title of this suggestion states “LDR pos. 8 = a” but the comment from Feb. 2 also has “LDR pos. 6 = p”? We do not think “LDR pos. 6 = p” is a good idea. That is used for “mixed materials”. On the other hand “LDR pos. 8…

  5. ALMA Cloud apps; can we enable this feature role-based

    with lots of interest we have followed the Igelu presentations about ALMA Cloud Apps.
    For now we have not enabled this feature though we would like to use it.
    We do not want all our ALMA users to be able to use all these apps.
    It looks as now the only choice is 'enable or disable'.

    Is it possible to add Alma Cloud apps role based?
    For example for our users who have a General Administrator role or to the meta data experts in our library?

    Thanks for raising this idea.

    I would like to better understand the requirement:

    Do you want to limit users to be able to install/use only cloud apps that they have the proper roles for operating? Meaning - users will not be able to install/use a cloud app they do not have the required roles to operate it.

    or

    Do you want to allow the use of cloud apps only for users that you specifically choose (by giving them a dedicated role for that)? Meaning - users will be able to install/use cloud apps only if they were given a dedicated role for that (for example, a new role "CLOUD_APP_OPERATOR")?

    or

    Both?

    or

    Other?


    I would be happy to hear your thoughts and clarifications.

  6. Issue with Embargoed Bibliographic Record Display in Primo

    Current situation:
    Despite configuring an embargo on a digital file, the bibliographic record continues to show up in Primo. In an effort to resolve the issue, we suppress the bib record, but even after the embargo has expired after two years, the record is not visible in Primo.

    Desired outcome:

    If an embargo is in place, it can affect whether the bibliographic record is suppressed or not. Alternatively, when the embargo period ends, the library may receive a notification to prompt staff to manually remove the suppressed status.   7. LC call number search and index

    LC call number should support indexing all valid MARC fields as mentioned in http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd050.html and not only 050$a or local 090$a fields.
    It should index also $b and than enable to search for full LC call number, of course this should reflects also in the holdings level (i.e. $h,$i etc)

  8. A new design for the homepage of ALMA

    It would be really lovely if the homepage to ALMA was colourful and bright with easy access to the major functions we use in the library. For example there could be a homepage that has different bubbles (5 in a circle with one in the middle for example) and people can drag and drop their 6 most used icons. For library assistants this would be super useful if we could open ALMA and instantly be able to issue / return books / search for a service users name / card number for easy access.
