We would also support the ability to select which citation type is the default citation on the resource sharing form. The bulk of our resource sharing requests are for articles so from a user experience perspective having Journal Article the default citation type when a user opens the Resource Sharing form is ideal. Because it is the default we have found that clients can submit article requests using the Book Citation type as they have not clicked the Journal Article radio button prior to submitting the request. This results in additional work for our team who have to convert the request to an article request in order to action it. This has become even more problematic following the implementation of RapidILL as it is preventing these requests from going through the automated sending of requests workflow.
Additionally, we support having the ability to hide any of the format options from display as the format of the item that is supplied is based on type of request (eg book will be physical, article is typically digitally especially with RapidILL in place) and what is available from our requesting partners. Allowing us the ability to hide one or more of these options will minimise the potential confusion that this field may cause for our clients who sometimes place a format request that is not able to be fullfilled.
