  1. Add DOI/No DOI as a Facet to Smart Harvest author matching

Articles with DOIs are easier to verify because you can click the DOI and review the published version of record.

We would like a "has DOI" and "NO DOI" facet because this would speed up Smart Harvest author matching, and potentially allow lower-level staff to review.

Staff could review "has DOI" matching and check the published version to verify affiliation. Records requiring more review or investigation could be left for higher-level staff.

  2. Add research topics at "add researcher" step within record

When a researcher is incorrectly matched, we often have to create a new non-affiliated one in the record. We can add their affiliation, but we can't add research topics. If the name is common, we have to look them up by researcher and add the research topics.

It would be more efficient to add research topics (as keywords) during this step.

  3. Include asset status (provisional or approved) in Author Matching Report

When using the Author Matching Report to approve individual researchers on records that were imported via smart harvest, we would find it very useful to be able to distinguish the asset status -- that is, to be able to tell if the asset is still provisional or if it is approved. If we approve one author on an asset, and then create an Author Matching Report it is useful context to know that there is a local co-author. It is also helpful to know there is no local co-author for authors that would typically write with other people at our…

  4. Lock asset to prevent simultaneous edits

We've developed a backlog of deposits to process. When multiple staff are working on processing these deposits it's currently possible for editing conflicts to occur if the same asset is edited simultaneously.

Could a lock please be added to the asset to prevent such conflicts?

    thanks

I suggest using tasks to assign deposits to specific admins. This will prevent multiple admins from starting to work on the same deposit.

  5. Embargo end date calculation should consult the “first Online Publication” date, not only the “published date”

Currently, If there are, in an asset, both “Published Date” and “First Online Publication” – Esploro calculates the embargo end date based ONLY on “Published Date”. The embargo end date should first consult the “First Online Publication” date.

We suggest this workflow when calculating the Embargo end date:

    Take “First Online Publication”
If none -> take “Published Date”
Any non-standard use cases (which are probably the minority) can be handled by entering an explicit embargo end date.

  6. Add job to bulk import asset metadata and files

Currently there is actually no mechanism by which a batch of metadata and files for multiple assets can be imported into Esploro. Strongly recommend adding this functionality ASAP.

There is a POST Asset API and the CSV loader and an XML loader. If there is still functionality that is missing, please list it in a new IE as this one is being closed

  7. Ability to create a set of researchers using Internal Researcher ID

As part of smart harvest and CDI migration (i.e. adding assets in bulk via DOI or PMID or PMCID) we get a lot of non-affiliated researchers. Unfortunately, non-affiliated people may be conflated. We would like to add basic keywords to non-affiliated researchers (for example, co-authors on Nursing publications could have the keyword "Nursing" which would make it more obvious to the matching algorithm that they are not in Geology). The current functionality allows us to add keywords to a set of researchers, but we lack a way to easily make a set of non-affiliated researchers. We can get the internal…

    Hi,

there is an option to Import Non-affiliated researchers (Researcher > Import Non-Affiliated).

We also add the option to bulk update researchers (affiliated or non-affiliated) and this includes the option to add research topics (Admin --> Run a job --> Update Set of Researchers)

  8. Allow records from Alma and records from esploro to be part of the same collection in Primo

In Alma we can group records into Collections (Inventory -> Manage Collections).
The collections are presented in Primo.
Esploro records are also displayed in our Primo. We want to be able to attach records from Esploro to display in a collection together with Alma records.

    Scenario:
The "Science Teaching" department asked us to create a collection for them in Primo. They would like to see in this collection publications of their scientists (coming from Esploro) along with books and journals published by them (which are coming from Alma - physical and digital items).

  9. Integrate calls for papers (Papers Invited) into researcher profiles

Integrating the submission form (https://www.papersinvited.com/#submit-paper) into researcher profiles makes it easy for journal editors and conference/event planners to quickly and easily advertise their call directly within their profile and continues to build up the practical functionality of the platform for researchers.

  10. Deposit form that exists independent of researcher authentication

Some departments award honors degrees to undergraduate and one of the requirements is that those students must write a senior honors thesis. Today, the deposit process is generally tied to a researcher profile (or the integration of ProQuest ETD admin for masters and doctoral ETDs).

I would like to see a deposit form for ETDs that doesn't require the person to have a researcher profile. This would be particularly helpful for our undergraduate ETDs.

    Dear colleagues

This ticket includes a list of features, and it's impossible for us to distinguish the relevant ones and to prioritize.

For this, here's the current status of the requested features, now that the new portal was launched, we're closing this ticket.

For features that are still needed, please open a separate idea (one per feature)

    Home page and Portal:
Width of the page – done – increased page width – configuration is not available
    Tabs– can be configured
    Headers– can be configured
Font colors - can be configured
Background colors - can be configured

    On the Portal
Logo size– not available (you can load an image with a different scale though)
Header height – changed, but not configurable.  background-color – can be configured
Font colors - part of them is not readable - following accessibility rules.  (Like email addresses > yellow on grey).  - Can be configured (also…

  12. Analytics should normalize publication titles to cluster article in the same journal more effectively

Analytics currently considers capitalization variants as different for publication titles, and does not disregard initial articles. After a CDI migration in early December, we have both "American Journal of Psychiatry" and "The American journal of psychiatry". We have also gotten both "Gynecologic Oncology" and "Gynecologic oncology" and we have "PloS one" as well as "PLoS ONE" and "PLOS ONE".

    Dear Colleagues,

After some investigation I learned that this is not something that our Analytics team is offering. We understand the need for keeping a unified list of journal names yet this is something that will need to be done in Esploro and cannot be resolved only by the Analytics team.

Today it is possible to cluster by ISSN number and create a report by journal ISSN and do a manual data cleanup.

I am closing this idea since it not related to Analytics. If keeping a uniform journal name is a priority, please open a new Idea and please specify different use cases and specific requirements that are important to you.

  13. Series Title and abbreviated name are Missing from Conference Proceeding

A conference can be published in a book and the book can be labelled as part of a series.
There is no series field in the conference proceeding record.
Note that there is also no field for the abbreviated name of a conference.

  14. Esploro Portal and Home page

We would like to see the same functionality as in Primo with customization options - upload CSS/JS files. Today we have no useful options to customize our portal and home page. Please include this in the changes of the Q1 2021

Currently, we have the Accessibility menu in Primo we would like to use it in Esploro Portal.

Thanks for your suggestion. Esploro’s Research Portal, which its new interface is currently rolled out, is built using a different design methodology than Primo. According to this methodology, all configuration and customization of the portal should be done using Esploro’s configuration pages, enabling our customers to easily customize the portal to their needs without the need to write code or modify the portal css. We believe that this approach presents good and consistent user experience to our customers and will enable us to further grow the system according to our customers’ needs without forcing the customers to modify their code based on portal changes and without posing risks on changes done to the portal by customers.

I will therefore close this idea and I would like to suggest that if there is a specific functionality or customization option that you think we should add to Esploro, please open a dedicated…

  15. Alma Esploro Interface and Alma Users as Researchers

In the Alma Esploro interface we would like to not have to edit Researcher roles when a User is also a Researcher. Right now anyone with an Alma login will need to be granted an Observer role in Esploro if they are made Researchers.

  17. Local copyright permissions

Over the years we've negotiated permissions with some publishers. Our local permissions can differ to information in Sherpa.

We'd like a way to upload these permissions into Esploro so that we could interrogate it in a similar way to how we can through Sherpa in the form.

  18. Internal or External data in the Researcher record

It would be very helpful to know via Analtyics which data fields in the Researcher record were managed internal or externally, particularly when an automatic import of new researchers is employed. This will allow library staff to know which data may be in danger of being overwritten and which data will not be automatically updated.

    Dear Colleagues,

I am closing this idea since we do not have fields for the researcher entity management available in Analytics at the moment and we do not intend on adding these fields in the near future.

If this is still an important need for you, please contact the Esploro product team.

  19. Display All Asset Record IDs in Alma/Esploro Editing Screen

Include all asset record IDs in Alma/Esploro for easier construction of OAI-PMH GetRecord requests. These currently only work on <identifier>oai:alma.61RMIT_INST:11247527950001341</identifier> and this identifier is not displayed in any asset record. This makes it impossible to complete a GetRecord request.

  20. Add text formatting options to the Abstract Field

When adding new records, it would be great if text editing options could be included to increase the efficiency of abstract editing. Things such as italics, bold, superscript, subscript and paragraph breaks all have to be entered in using HTML coding withich is cumbersome and time-consuming.
Our previous Institutional Repository software included text editing options allowed for very quick and efficient addition of abstract information.
