This ticket includes a list of features, and it's impossible for us to distinguish the relevant ones and to prioritize.
For this, here's the current status of the requested features, now that the new portal was launched, we're closing this ticket.
For features that are still needed, please open a separate idea (one per feature)

Researcher to choose which email display in their profile
Some of our Researcher records have multiple email addresses, whether by manual entry or from external data.
Example: Amanda has recently married, changed surnames and has a new email address (both her old and new emails are active work emails).
Amanda only wishes to use her new email with her married surname, so this email is set to be the preferred email address in her User record.
Amanda only wants to display her new email on her Researcher profile, however both her old and new emails are being displayed, as they are both email Type: Work and we have configured…32 votesResearchers can enter new email addresses and can hide any emails they do not want to display.

Add job to bulk import asset metadata and files
Currently there is actually no mechanism by which a batch of metadata and files for multiple assets can be imported into Esploro. Strongly recommend adding this functionality ASAP.
31 votesThere is a POST Asset API and the CSV loader and an XML loader. If there is still functionality that is missing, please list it in a new IE as this one is being closed

Fields that have content should be visible when editing an asset
It should not matter what the asset type is, if it was brought into Esploro by DOI or Title, while the system populates fields automatically, all fields that were populated have to appear in the ‘Edit’ version of the form (and not only in the ‘Edit in Generic Form’, as it is today).
25 votesCustomers can configure the system to use the Generic form as the default form for editing an asset. The configuration is set per-asset type. When the generic form is selected, all fields display.

Link Esploro asset records to Alma bib records
Permit Esploro asset records to be linked to bib records in Alma in the same way that holdings, portfolios, and digital representations are linked.
Create an Alma job by which library staff can link assets to bib records by uploading a spreadsheet of asset IDs and their corresponding bib MMS IDs.
Currently, we have two records for every ETD in our collection, the Alma bib record and the Esploro asset record. Both describe the same resource (the bib better than the asset record) and so they should be linked and not turn up in Primo as two separate search results.

Thesis advisor/committee member should populate Activities from the ETD record
ETD asset records already have the activity of Thesis advisor/committee member connected directly with titles of ETDs, student names, dates and degree. Adding this information as separate Activities will be time consuming and will likely be filled with errors. This information should be maintained in one place, the ETD record, and then should display in the activity for the faculty member. We should not be creating duplicate information when we can help it. this would ensure that information remains current and is accurate

Separate configuration options for faculty and student works
We would like to have more granular control over our asset display configurations. Theses/dissertations and other types of non-published student works do not have the same descriptive needs as published faculty works, and having a blanket configuration that is meant to address all types of published and non-published works is leading to confusion as to how to correctly present and interpret the presented metadata. In order to best represent our non-published student works and ETDs, it would be better to have those assets configured separately from faculty works.

Deposit form that exists independent of researcher authentication
Some departments award honors degrees to undergraduate and one of the requirements is that those students must write a senior honors thesis. Today, the deposit process is generally tied to a researcher profile (or the integration of ProQuest ETD admin for masters and doctoral ETDs).
I would like to see a deposit form for ETDs that doesn't require the person to have a researcher profile. This would be particularly helpful for our undergraduate ETDs.

More options for adding asset metadata to notification approval emails
It would be good if additional metadata options can be added to the notification approval emails, such as whether the asset is open access, value from a local field, or the complete citation of the asset. This would provide more detailed information to the researcher about which asset was approved, as well as whether it is open access.

External Organizations: track local additions to learn if they have a duplicate on the “Central’ tab
There is a mapping process that allows 'Mapping Local to Central Organization'. But, to use it, we need to know that a duplicate exists.
We would like to know of a way to follow what is added to the “Central tab” – more importantly – to learn of external organizations that are now duplicated (as we have them on both the ‘Local’ and ‘Central’ tabs).
Reference to 'Mapping Local to Central Organization':

Local copyright permissions
Over the years we've negotiated permissions with some publishers. Our local permissions can differ to information in Sherpa.
We'd like a way to upload these permissions into Esploro so that we could interrogate it in a similar way to how we can through Sherpa in the form.

New asset page - navigation between search results
The new portal no longer has Up and Down arrows to navigate to the next record in search results.
We find navigation between search results very useful and would like the left panel with Up and Down arrows added to the new portal.14 votesClosed per PWG recommendation

Overlay Option for Import Profiles
To mirror the functionality that already exists in Alma, we would like to see an Overlay option for Import Profiles in Esploro. The current functionality for updating assets in bulk is very limited. The only real solution for bulk updating is to export research assets, update them, and then reload via the import profile process. However, because there are only matching options 1) Do Not Import and 2) Import New Record, this process will lead to unnecessary duplication of asset records. This is particularly important for assets where the master records are maintained in Alma (or OCLC), such as theses…
13 votesHi,
We have developed the export/import assets in CSV functionality to support bulk update of assets. If needed, we can discuss improvements there. We will not add overlay via the Import Profiles.

Lock asset to prevent simultaneous edits
We've developed a backlog of deposits to process. When multiple staff are working on processing these deposits it's currently possible for editing conflicts to occur if the same asset is edited simultaneously.
Could a lock please be added to the asset to prevent such conflicts?
thanks
13 votesI suggest using tasks to assign deposits to specific admins. This will prevent multiple admins from starting to work on the same deposit.

Internal or External data in the Researcher record
It would be very helpful to know via Analtyics which data fields in the Researcher record were managed internal or externally, particularly when an automatic import of new researchers is employed. This will allow library staff to know which data may be in danger of being overwritten and which data will not be automatically updated.
12 votesDear Colleagues,
I am closing this idea since we do not have fields for the researcher entity management available in Analytics at the moment and we do not intend on adding these fields in the near future.
If this is still an important need for you, please contact the Esploro product team.

Analytics should normalize publication titles to cluster article in the same journal more effectively
Analytics currently considers capitalization variants as different for publication titles, and does not disregard initial articles. After a CDI migration in early December, we have both "American Journal of Psychiatry" and "The American journal of psychiatry". We have also gotten both "Gynecologic Oncology" and "Gynecologic oncology" and we have "PloS one" as well as "PLoS ONE" and "PLOS ONE".
12 votesDear Colleagues,
After some investigation I learned that this is not something that our Analytics team is offering. We understand the need for keeping a unified list of journal names yet this is something that will need to be done in Esploro and cannot be resolved only by the Analytics team.
Today it is possible to cluster by ISSN number and create a report by journal ISSN and do a manual data cleanup.
I am closing this idea since it not related to Analytics. If keeping a uniform journal name is a priority, please open a new Idea and please specify different use cases and specific requirements that are important to you.

Embargo end date calculation should consult the “first Online Publication” date, not only the “published date”
Currently, If there are, in an asset, both “Published Date” and “First Online Publication” – Esploro calculates the embargo end date based ONLY on “Published Date”. The embargo end date should first consult the “First Online Publication” date.
We suggest this workflow when calculating the Embargo end date:
Take “First Online Publication”
If none -> take “Published Date”
Any non-standard use cases (which are probably the minority) can be handled by entering an explicit embargo end date.Thank you, Maya Amichal

Activate my profile button on the Researcher Profile
On the researcher profile it would be nice to have a button to request to "publish my profile". The scenario being profiles are by default off and we are asking researchers to update the information in the overview section. It is not obvious to the Researcher that their profile is not live unless they do a search in the Profiles portal for themselves. We are currently manageing this in an online tutorial in Springshares LibWizard with options to "request to publish" or "don't publish I’m still working on it." This would be best managed from within the profiles and the…

Add text formatting options to the Abstract Field
When adding new records, it would be great if text editing options could be included to increase the efficiency of abstract editing. Things such as italics, bold, superscript, subscript and paragraph breaks all have to be entered in using HTML coding withich is cumbersome and time-consuming.
Our previous Institutional Repository software included text editing options allowed for very quick and efficient addition of abstract information.10 votesThis feature is only available in the New UI. It will become available for Assets when Assets are moved to the new UI.

Resize the asset’s title in the portal
The Asset’s title takes a lot of the Asset’s page real estate in the portal.
We request an option to resize the title or that the title size be appropriately responsive to screen size.
The existing title size is 40.5px. It uses 30% of the screen area
This is a serious problem on small screens like laptops.
On a phone, this title uses HALF of the screen OR MORE!
Please see the attached examples.10 votesDear Colleagues,
This enhancement is not a something that we are going to pursue in the near future in Esploro so I am closing this idea for now. If this continues to be an issue for you please contact the Esploro Product Team.
Thank you for your suggestion,
