  1. Develop a mechanism to allow subscribers to add 3rd party CSS/javascript

In Alma/Primo we can add customized CSS and javascript code to our sites by uploading customization packages. This functionality does not exist in Esploro and it's preventing us from using the UserWay accessibility widget - https://userway.org/ - on our site.

  2. Add an Investigator column in the ‘Assets grants and funders’ section of the asse

It would be helpful if we could see the investigator (the owner of the grant) displayed in the ‘Assets grants and funders’ section of the asset in the repository.
This would come in handy in case we have two (or more) grants used in the same asset.

  3. Expose all User record fields on the Researcher subject area

Currently, the User fields that are part of Researcher subject area are incomplete. I need to be able to include the campus that the researcher is associated with in my report.

I cannot get the information out of the Researcher Subject area as it is not exposed.

There appears to be no API or analytic subject area that all the researcher contact information, identifiers, urls (image and profile), keywords, affiliations, assets etc is available from.

I would like to see all the user fields included on the researcher subject area.

The use case is to be able to use the…

    Closed per PWG recommendation

All info is in Researcher API. It should also possible to create a local subject area including Researcher and User info.

  4. Add mapping to broad DataCite subjects to improve interoperability with DataCite

DataCite https://commons.datacite.org/ has a facet for field of science (see datacite-facet.jpg). We would love for our Esploro created DOIs to be able to use a subject term that will appear here. Looking at the backend, it appears they are from “REVISED FIELD OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (FOS) CLASSIFICATION IN THE FRASCATI MANUAL” https://www.oecd.org/science/inno/38235147.pdf . This is built in as a default vocabulary in the DataCite Fabrica interface. The terms are very broad, but they still look helpful in this context. It would be great if research topics could be mapped to these terms and be included in the information sent…

  5. Researcher to choose which email display in their profile

Some of our Researcher records have multiple email addresses, whether by manual entry or from external data.

Example: Amanda has recently married, changed surnames and has a new email address (both her old and new emails are active work emails).

Amanda only wishes to use her new email with her married surname, so this email is set to be the preferred email address in her User record.
Amanda only wants to display her new email on her Researcher profile, however both her old and new emails are being displayed, as they are both email Type: Work and we have configured…

  6. Esploro Portal – add Labels for all title pages

We want to be able to configure title pages for every page in the Esploro portal using a label. A title page is what we see when we hover over the browser’s tab. Currently, there is only a label for the main title page.

    Dear Colleagues,

This idea was open for a very long time yet it has not gotten many votes. Due to other priorities, it is not likely that it will be developed in the near future and I am closing the idea.

Thank you for your input and if this is still a need for you, please contact the Esploro Product Team.

  7. Esploro Portal - Enhance color settings

We would like to have one of the following options:
    1. Enhance the color setting options available in the admin panel, allowing complete color control in the portal
    2. Allow uploading a CSS/SASS file that will overwrite the preset CSS/SASS settings

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your input. It was decided that Esploro will not support CSS changes. In addition, we do not have plans to enhance the branding color options in the near future.

Due to these reasons I am closing this idea.

If this is still a need for you, please contact the Esploro Product Team.

  8. Add a 'Back' button after clicking on ‘Additional approval tasks exist’ in the 'Author matching approval task list'

Many of us work on approving an asset of a specific researcher or a specific academic unit in the 'Author matching approval task list'.

Once we choose an asset to work on, and we click on ‘Additional approval tasks exist’, there is no way to get back to the specific filtered list we were working on, and we need, again, to select the relevant filters.

We ask to add a 'Back' button.

You can look at the attachment for an example.

    Hi,

I do understand the need for this but given our current UI infrastructure it is not technically possible.

Opening in separate tab can  also create problems.

    I am sorry.

  9. Separate configuration options for faculty and student works

We would like to have more granular control over our asset display configurations. Theses/dissertations and other types of non-published student works do not have the same descriptive needs as published faculty works, and having a blanket configuration that is meant to address all types of published and non-published works is leading to confusion as to how to correctly present and interpret the presented metadata. In order to best represent our non-published student works and ETDs, it would be better to have those assets configured separately from faculty works.

  10. Thesis advisor/committee member should populate Activities from the ETD record

ETD asset records already have the activity of Thesis advisor/committee member connected directly with titles of ETDs, student names, dates and degree. Adding this information as separate Activities will be time consuming and will likely be filled with errors. This information should be maintained in one place, the ETD record, and then should display in the activity for the faculty member. We should not be creating duplicate information when we can help it. this would ensure that information remains current and is accurate

  11. Resize the asset’s title in the portal

The Asset’s title takes a lot of the Asset’s page real estate in the portal.
We request an option to resize the title or that the title size be appropriately responsive to screen size.
The existing title size is 40.5px. It uses 30% of the screen area
This is a serious problem on small screens like laptops.
On a phone, this title uses HALF of the screen OR MORE!
    Please see the attached examples.

    Dear Colleagues,

This enhancement is not a something that we are going to pursue in the near future in Esploro so I am closing this idea for now. If this continues to be an issue for you please contact the Esploro Product Team.

    Thank you for your suggestion,

  12. Publication details > Publication Title - autocomplete option should include Journal names, Repositories, Databases for optimal consistent

Currently, Ex Libris Support insists that the autocomplete list (Asset > Publication Details > “Publication Title” field) includes only Journal names.
This is not true as we know that ArXiv.org (https://arxiv.org/) is already on that list. ArXiv.org is an open-access archive/Repository.
chemrxiv.org (https://chemrxiv.org/) is another example. ChemRxiv (pronounced 'chem-archive') is a free submission, distribution, and archive service for unpublished preprints in chemistry and related areas.

We ask that other databases and repositories will be added to the Publication Title autocomplete list. This is very important consistency-wise.

The one that we ask to add:
    BioArxiv.org (https://www.biorxiv.org/

  13. Map programs & research units to ETD types

Now that undergraduate students can self-deposit in Esploro, it is essential that the process be as straightforward as possible. Currently the programs and research units that they must select from are all possibilities. We would like a way to identify the relevant programs and research units so they are given a subset of relevant options. Without having an appropriate subset it will be much more challenging for everyone, and we are sure we will get a lot of incorrect information in the form.

  14. New asset page - navigation between search results

The new portal no longer has Up and Down arrows to navigate to the next record in search results.

We find navigation between search results very useful and would like the left panel with Up and Down arrows added to the new portal.

  15. Fields that have content should be visible when editing an asset

It should not matter what the asset type is, if it was brought into Esploro by DOI or Title, while the system populates fields automatically, all fields that were populated have to appear in the ‘Edit’ version of the form (and not only in the ‘Edit in Generic Form’, as it is today).

Customers can configure the system to use the Generic form as the default form for editing an asset. The configuration is set per-asset type. When the generic form is selected, all fields display.

  16. New option: “Populate only empty fields and overwrite all authors” in the Asset’s “Confirmation message”

In the Deposit Article title field in the “Confirmation message”, we would like to add the option: “Populate only empty fields and overwrite all authors”.

In the current situation, if we update authors, we have to check all the fields in an asset and fix them. We want to avoid this.

We would like an option to overwrite only authors and populate empty fields (if there are any).

  17. Include Archives and Databases in the Publication title field

We would like to include Archives and Databases into the Asset "Publication title" autocomplete list.
This will create consistency in the “Publication title” field.

For example, we are missing "BioArxiv.org" which is an Archive with ISSN: 2692-8205.

  18. Display department in the previous Researcher affiliation

    Hi,
When a researcher's affiliation is former/previous, only the Institution's affiliation is displayed in the asset, without the department.
The full affiliation, including the department, should still appear, even if the researcher is no longer in the Institution.

  19. Facet drafts by category or priority

By adding a facet to drafts it will be possible to filter and order the sub-categories within drafts to organise, prioritise and focus on work items. This could be achieved by applying flags which could be filtered in the facet. Flags could be applied to a set of assets e.g. by Primary Identifier.

  20. External Organizations: track local additions to learn if they have a duplicate on the “Central’ tab

There is a mapping process that allows 'Mapping Local to Central Organization'. But, to use it, we need to know that a duplicate exists.

We would like to know of a way to follow what is added to the “Central tab” – more importantly – to learn of external organizations that are now duplicated (as we have them on both the ‘Local’ and ‘Central’ tabs).

Reference to 'Mapping Local to Central Organization':
