Save to Refworks button is not functional
The save to refworks button for chrome is not functional. About 90% of the time when I try to use it and input all the information, the loading bar goes and goes (Uploading 1 of 1.......) and eventually after about a minute it says it was unable to import anything (We're sorry, we were unable to save to RefWorks. We tried, but came up empty.) So frustrating. As said before, this service is great, but quite a few basic functionalities are from from actually functioning properly. These need to be fixed. A quick import button is a huge draw of people using this, I imagine when it doesn't work, people will seek services through someone else, which is where I am headed if things don't get improved. Seriously, please fix this.

Improvements have been made to the Save to RefWorks feature. If you encounter issues with any websites, please let us know by contacting tech support at https://support.proquest.com/s/refworks

Even in 2023 this plugin only works half the time and not at all on certain browsers (e.g. SafarI). The idea behind it is great, but rather than relying on something that is inconsistent at best, perhaps you could add a feature within RefWorks where we could enter a URL to upload similar to ZoteroBib. This way we could still grab things from the Internet and have them uploaded into RefWorks.

Same here. Add to reworks is not working. I have now tried 3 browsers. Each has a different issue. The Safari will not allow me to log in. Fire for says sorry we can't add this right now and the other one just gurns for hours loading a translator? I wish I had not used reworks with all my heart.
Sadly this software is not supported and simply does not work. It is a total waste of time and I am really frustrated with trying to get it to work.

Having issues with Refworks on safari, it is taking incredibly long to add any references to refworks using the sidebar tool and a lot of the time it just says there is a problem and doesn't actually upload at all, meaning I have to go to refworks webpage and add it manually which takes up a lot of time. Any help?

"Save to RefWorks" does not work for academic sites like Europe PMC (https://europepmc.org/), and Scinapse (https://scinapse.io). The function could not fetch metadata properly from Springer (https://link.springer.com/), MDPI (https://www.mdpi.com/) and many more. It also takes a longer time to load for non-journal sites, I guess RefWorks is designed to work well mainly with PMC & Google Scholar without tedious work such as importing RIS file. This issue has been on-going for so long, I have tried out Mendeley (web importer), it works so much more better across various journal sites. I resonate with other people in this thread, it is awful that any institutions are paying a subscription for their researchers to use a seemingly defective product in 2021.

Hey Shalhevet Bar-Asher, any solutions yet?
This button is still not functional and it's the end of 2020.
Ridiculous.

This is still a big issue. If I can't save to refworks, what is the point, exactly?

It's still not working: 100 percent of my attempts to utilize the Save to RefWorks button end in failure. It's annoying that neither ExLibris nor Refworks is responding to what is a more than year-old issue. I echo previous comments regarding the inadequate level of support provided for this technology. Also, as others have mentioned, it puzzles me that my university--or any university--continues to pay for a defective product.

It seems the Save to RefWorks button just simply doesn't work. Despite improvements being "planned" over a year ago, I am assuming nothing of the sort has been done. When something takes years to fix such as this, we have to guess it'll never happen. For any future projects I will be looking around for other referencing options. I hope that Universities are not paying for this service which is not adequately supported.

Also experiencing issues in Chrome and Firefox, and I've made sure pop-ups and cookies are enabled. Not working for me with multiple Google Scholar items. Have also found that I have to log in in advance as well when using Save to RefWorks. Log in not working from side panel.

I read through the comments and my heart bleeds. For me, this fault made a great difference to my academic experience. It is really a shame I choose to use RefWorks and I will make sure my uni do something about it. Dropping Refworks for one will be fantastic. I don't wish on my enemy the experience I had using RefWorks. It fails when I need it most. Quite sad.

Many fields remain empty, and even if I fill them up manually, it gives me "We're sorry, we were unable to save to RefWorks. We tried, but came up empty." wastes my effort.

The login isn't working for me. Was working great and now it just goes to the login page and won't accept my correct login info.

Yes this is completely frustrating. If you are suggesting the same issue I have been having using the "save to refworks" function. It seems to not work...which is entirely aggravating and frustrating. There are so many wonderful things about this resource, I can't believe I haven't found it until now, but so many basic functions are not working. I cannot search by DOI number either because "service is unavailable". Come on!

It imports nothing and just says "error" in the title. Would be nice to not have to always cut and paste directly from the website.
