Suggestion for the idea exchange itself: Allow searching limited to specific product
I was trying to search within the idea exchange to see if my idea had already been posted but I cannot limit my search to a specific product. The search box searches within all products, which is not practical since it gives so many irrelevant results for different products.
1 voteThank you for this suggestion, we have forwarded this to Idea Exchange administrators.

Increase number of results we can export at a time from 1000 to at least 1500 or 2000.
Increase number of results we can export at a time from 1000 to at least 1500 or 2000. When doing systematic reviews for people, there are often large numbers of results and at the moment the absolute limit is 1000 (even though we can view 2000 results). Otherwise we need to send the results in separate files which is extremely time consuming as well as inconvenient both for us and the users.
1 voteRefWorks does not impose export limits. You may export all references in your Project at any time.
Export times will vary based on number of references selected for export and connection speed. A library of 150,000 references may take about 30 minutes to export. -
Currently, we do not offer for users to ignore or not ignore casing or other options. - Please can this be an option?
I know you can just ignore during screening, however it would help massively when looking through thousands of results if there were less due to casing issues :)

Match Custom style reference types to default drop-down list
We are rationalising our reference types on our custom style. In the citation style editor there is an option to delete reference types, which I have used. This means I have only set a custom for a dozen or so reference types.
However, when we import and edit references, the drop-down list of reference types does not match our custom style: it remains the default list. This will lead our users to select reference types that have not been custom-set to match our style guide and errors in our bibliographies.4 votesThank you for your valuable feedback. Delete Documents list
It would be nice to delete documents that are listed under "Assign to Folder". I have 130 that came in when transitioning from Legacy

Allow the option of Advanced search in Public folder shared
For many years we have been using a shared public folder that contains the publications of our Institute's researchers.
In the previous version of Refworks, the Advanced Search option was present in the public shared folder which allowed you to search for references of interest (for example: references by Year of publication/Document type/Department-custom field) and then quickly create the bibliography and/or export only the recovered references.
The shared public folder in New Refworks only has the "Search" option.
Please add the option Advanced search.1 voteThank you for your valuable feedback. We won't be able to address this idea in our planned roadmap. We are committed to our users and are focusing on current goals and most requested features.

Problems with the new version of Refworks
I am writing to you because I have been using Legacy Refworks for more than 12 years for my work as a university professor and researcher in the field of scientific production and bibliometrics.
It has always been my essential support for managing documents. They have been trying to get us to use the new version of Refworks for several years and have set a deadline for us to use the old version. Years of failed versions that erased all the data I had.
And now in the new version, since I have to switch to the new version by…1 vote -
Font sizing issue even after corrected. New citations resort all intext citations to 11, even the already correct intext ones.
When putting a new citation in every citation resorts back to font size 11 changing the entire document (thesis chapters).
Improvement: Once a citation is in a sizes correctly, keep it so. this should not be resized everytime a new citation is added.
Point: pre-updated refworks didnt have this issue, so this should have a solution.

Develop RefWorks App for mobile devices
Please make RefWorks available as an App for mobile devices. Students tell me that they prefer Zotero for this reason, as it enables them to access their references when they are researching in the field (i.e. without internet access)

Part of text is missing due to the small size of the preferences window on Write-N-Cite. Please correct the size.
5 votesThank you for your feedback. We are not planning any new development for the WnC feature, as WnC is planned to end by Q2 2025. We recommend using the RefWorks Citation Manager going forward. Abbreviations for in text citations
When including citations in text via word application, allow opportunity to use abbreviation citation instead of full citation. E.G.
currently shows as (National Health Service (NHS), 2014) whereas it would be helpful to have the option to pick it to automatically be (NHS, 2014) without manual editing.3 votes -
Transfer old RefShare functions to new RefWorks
The display of data in your own output style as well as the search functionalities from the old RefShare should definitely be included in the new version as well.
Currently, only a listing is possible, which is definitely not sufficient to present the data well.

Add the ability to add page numbers to APA 7 in Google Docs
The fact that this is still an issue is frustrating. RefWorks, you have been told FOR YEARS that this is an issue, and you still haven't changed it. Faculty REQUIRE students include page numbers regardless of what the style says. I really don't understand why this still hasn't been fixed. There is no manual way to add page numbers in Google Docs.

Remove "Use login from my institution" link from user login dialog box
The RefWorks login dialog box has a link that says "Use login from my institution." Since our institution does not have Open Athens or any other the other similar tools, this link is misleading for our patrons.

Add dataset as item type
As NIH gears up to enforce a new data management and sharing plan and librarians work with researchers to develop plans and create new norms, I think it is important for reference management tools to enable researchers to cite data by creating dataset as an item type.
