← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

  4. Add FlashPoint Monograph Series

    Duke University Libraries would like to request that the FlashPoint Monograph Series from California Digital Library's be added to the Community Zone.

  6. Add TGC Books Play Collection

    A collection from TGC Books, the largest independent trade publisher of dramatic literature in North America.

    The collection includes 18 winners of the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, and also boasts a diverse range of voices which are often overlooked in less contemporary collections.

    Our drama students are always looking for newer plays available in a digital format - and with the exception of this collection, the CZ in Alma has most of the collections available from Drama Online. This would be a welcome addition.

  8. Add CanLII (Canadian Legal Information Institute) journals to a CZ e-collection

    I would like to see a CZ for CanLII (Canadian Legal Information Institute Journals added and maintained in the Alma Community Zone so that these freely available law journals can be found by the increasing number of Canadian academic libraries using Alma/Primo.

    Please consider to add the content of Medialex, a Swiss specialist journal for media and communications law (ISSN 2504-1479). It has been published since 1995 and is available in Open access: https://medialex.ch/archiv/
    Currently, only some articles are available in the CDI from 2017 but all content is available in OA.

    We currently don't receive any metadata from Medialex.

    Their content is available in CDI through DOAJ, and as this is a new provider, it will need to go through the CERV (previously NERS) voting cycle.

  10. Add Open Access eBooks from the publisher intercom Verlag, Zürich into the Alma Community Zone

    The young publishing house intercom Verlag at Zürich (Switzerland) is publishing Open Access ebooks in the Humanities.
    It would be great to add an eCollection of these ebooks to the Community Zone in Alma to make these fine books available.

    On the document server deposit_hagen of the FernUniversität in Hagen, qualified scientific publications by members of the FernUniversität as well as digital collections of the University Library Hagen are made available online to the worldwide specialist public free of charge and without access restrictions (Open Access).

  13. Add MJS(Medical Journals Sweden) Publishing journals on KB & CZ

    MJS publishing launched in 2021 and publishes several medical society journals from Sweden.
    You would find titles from MJS publishing below.

  17. New Database Request - Royal Society of Chemistry Read and Publish 2026-2029 (Reading list) - 360 KB

    A new Jisc agreement has been released for Royal Society of Chemistry Read and Publish covering 2026-2029. We need a new database in 360 KB to reflect the current collection and replace the now out-of-date database that covered the 2022-2024 agreement [Royal Society of Chemistry:Jisc Collections:Royal Society of Chemistry Read and Publish 2022-2024 (reading list). RAOCF]

    We also need article-level linking. RAOCF has article level linking in place and the platform has not changed so the same linking principles should still apply.

  20. Add journal, Relational Child and Youth Care Practice to the CZ

    Please add the journal, Relational Child and Youth Care Practice (RCYCP, ISSN: 2410-2954) to the CZ.
    Vendor's site: https://www.rcycp.com/

    The open access journal from the same publisher (CYC-NET) is in the CZ but we aren't able to find RCYCP.

    We see some CDI records for articles in the journal but aren't able to identify which portfolio/collection they're connected to.
