  1. Use Seamless Access for authentication

Seamless Access is a new tool for Single sign-on authentication, this is how they describe it:

SeamlessAccess enables true Single Sign-On. Your users will be able to sign in using their preferred sign in credentials, and will not be bothered for them again for all SeamlessAccess-enabled sites.

  2. Increase the height of the Summon search box

If you have a long search string, e.g.:

(multi-disciplinary OR interdisciplinary OR trans-disciplinary) research funding barriers

You want to make sure the words are spelled and spaced correctly. This is hard to do in the current basic search interface, except perhaps by going back and forth with the arrow keys, or typing your search string in Notepad for editing then copy-pasting it on to the text field.

This is somewhat better in the Advanced Search form but can still be problematic.

A search box that auto expands based on content would be nice.

  3. Make new Summon Usage Statistics Dashboard publicly viewable

There is currently no way to share a dashboard of Summon usage statistics in the new "Current" interface viewable for all users within our institution. Please create a way for Summon administrators to send a publicly viewable link to others at our institution without having to make everyone log in through the Client Center.

  4. Add "Search within journals"

I'd like to cross-search between multiple journals I designate.
There is "Search within a journal," but it's only for one journal. Please add the facet for multiple journals or the function something like that.

  6. Include PMID in Advanced search

Add PMID explicitly as an option under Advanced Search along with DOI and others. PMID is heavily used by health sciences fields.

  7. Pin "Apply" button on the Facet (Summon mobile screen)

We have an improvement request about the mobile screen on the Facet of Summon.
Because the "Apply" button is fade out if the user scroll down to the bottom.
Not only this, but there are "Search" button where the "Apply" button supposed to be, and the user click "Search" instead of "Apply" unconsciously.

As the result of this mis-clicking, the facet fails often, so we have a request to pin the "Apply" button on the screen even though the user scroll down to the bottom.

Please see the attachment as detail.

  8. Ability to match language settings of Summon with those of linked contents

At present, the interface language of Summon and that of linked content has no connection at all.
So, sometimes abroad students have to change both language settings of Summon and those of contents.
It is troublesome and loses comfort in research.

  9. Facet search results by Custom Database Name

As to Database Facet, it is recommended to facet search results by "Custom Database Name" field instead of default "Database Name" field.

  10. Make Institutional Google Scholar content searchable within Summon

It would be great to see Summon integrated with Google Scholar, allowing for our institution's Google Scholar content to be searchable within Summon.

This would eliminate many access issues that stem from users searching for open-access content that we either don't get from our providers, or that hasn't been indexed yet.

  11. Collection Discovery for Summon over Alma

Alma has a feature that allows libraries to manage collections of titles by grouping them in categories for easy browsing. Primo sites can expose these curated collections with Primo's built-in Collection Discovery UI. The University of California at Irvine is using it to showcase award winning books in their collection, as seen in this example:

    https://uci.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/collectionDiscovery?vid=01CDLIRVINST:UCI

We think this is a useful feature and would like the same functionality to be available to Summon over Alma sites.

  12. Video Game Enrichment with Syndetics

Syndetics offers video game enrichment via UPC, which integrates with things like Primo. While other discovery platforms support UPC integration, Summon does not. Summon should offer a UPC integration with Syndetics for enrichment.

  13. Improve holdings display for journals in Summon or turn off catalog details page based on material types

We're looking for ways to improve the way holdings display for journals in Summon.

We're screen scraping Real Time Availability for our books, but our journals just display "Check availability" and link through to the OPAC (because the records have a different structure).

We would like to turn on the catalog details page, but this adds an additional click for users before they can actually see our journal holdings.

For example, here is a journal record in our OPAC (we have print and electronic on the same record):
    http://librarycatalogue.griffith.edu.au/record=b1551062~S1

    and in Summon preview

  14. Be able to limit bX Recommendations to fulltext holdings in your library to avoid too many "not available" results

Smaller academic libraries like community colleges will not have a lot of the recommendations suggested by bX Recommender, leading to too many "not available" results for students. For big university libraries who subscribe to 10 times the amount of content, this won't be an issues. For us smaller folks, it would be nice if we could limit bX recommendations to our own fulltext holdings so students would get usable results most or all of the time. bX recommender is otherwise a great tool for even the student who is new to college.

  15. Ability to add custom filters/facets on the advanced search screen and result set screen

    Hi --

Can someone include a way to search within databases in both the advanced search screen and a facet to narrow by database? This way if a result is returned, we can then narrow results down by db?

  16. open the "search within a journal" results in a new tab or window

Clicking on a journal title to use the "search within a journal" feature eliminates the original search. It would be helpful to have this open as a search in a new window or browser tab so that the original search is not lost.

  17. Create a facet for Abstracts (or Conference Abstracts)

Abstracts are currently classified as Journal Articles, which causes confusion as readers are expecting to be able to read the full text of a published article that does not exist. Creating a facet for Abstracts would allow them to be correctly classified and would improve the user experience

  18. Licence terms displayed in Summon search results

We would like to see the same functionality in Summon as is currently available in Primo - licence terms being visible in search results within the Summon interface.

As we are on Intota for our ERM, we would want to see Intota licence content linked to Summon search results and displaying there.

  19. Update Summon's AGLC citation style - AGLC4 is now available

We would like to see the AGLC3 citation style available in the Summon UI replaced by AGLC4 (or at least AGLC4 be made available as an option).

  20. Request link on catalog details page should not display for electronic only material

For libraries that have switched on the catalog details page, they have the option to configure a Request link.

This button displays on all records from the catalog, even if they are not requestable - for example if they are online only, the button still appears.

For example, this book is only available electronically (but the request link (Place hold button) is displaying then you get an error on the LMS side when you try to request it):
