  1. Define content types non-exclusively

Define content types non-exclusively, i.e., allow multiple content type definitions to apply to a single resource -- for example, the same resource might be both a "catalog" and a "book." Defining it as a "catalog" should not mean it is excluded in a search limited to "books."

  2. Enable Czech Wikipedia within the Czech interface

The users of the Czech user interface would like to be presented with Czech topics from cs wikipedia (https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/) when searches are done in Czech.

  3. Add Cite Them Right as option for exporting citations

Cite Them Right is a citation service similar to Citace.com and EasyBib that is gaining popularity. To support individuals and institutions who want this option, we would add this option where other citation services are currently offered in Summon. Institions should be able to choose to turn this on or off as an option. It should be included as an option under the Export To lists found in the menu behind the elipses (...) menu for each search result. It should also be available as an option for Export To in the Saved Items folder.

  4. Keeping stop words as part of phrase searching

Currently, there is a limitation to phrase searching in that if a stop word appears at the end of a phrase it is dropped. This has greatly affected gender studies researchers specifically, in that the phrase "coming out" is unable to be searched - as "out" is considered a stop word in English. If a researcher is conducting a phrase search, what is included within the quotations should be searched. The idea is that phrase searching should conduct searches on what is within paragraphs regardless of stop words.

  5. Indicate when content is freely available (but not tracked)

When searching with 'add results beyond your library's collection' ticked, all non-tracked content is labelled 'Citation Only'. However some of this content is in fact freely available, for example lots of content in institutional repositories.

Summon should have a way to indicate that content may be freely available even when not tracked, for content in non-tracked open access journals or open repositories. If it's too difficult for Summon to know when something is available, maybe we could have a third label (other than 'full text online' and 'citation only') for content from repositories where there is a high probability of…

  6. Add scroll bar for faset column

When scroll to the bottom of the search results, it will make the facets invisible, so I would like to add a scrollbar to the facet column.

  7. Make new Summon Usage Statistics Dashboard publicly viewable

There is currently no way to share a dashboard of Summon usage statistics in the new "Current" interface viewable for all users within our institution. Please create a way for Summon administrators to send a publicly viewable link to others at our institution without having to make everyone log in through the Client Center.

  8. Retrieve similar documents using the native 'MoreLikeThis' Lucene feature

Lucene's 'MoreLikeThis' feature retrieves similar documents based on a seed, which can be either a piece of text, or an already retrieved document (syntax-free search).

  9. Use Seamless Access for authentication

Seamless Access is a new tool for Single sign-on authentication, this is how they describe it:

SeamlessAccess enables true Single Sign-On. Your users will be able to sign in using their preferred sign in credentials, and will not be bothered for them again for all SeamlessAccess-enabled sites.

  10. Abilty to customise default search screen

The default search screen is currently empty other than the search box and our logo. We would like to add some custom content to the screen - e.g. info boxes suggesting some resources to try that are not discoverable in summon or some help guides. also to flag up new resources or future training events (e.g. on how to search summon and ebooks. When we set up Summon last year we were told that it wasn't possible to put any of this info on the default search screen.

  11. Add "Search within journals"

I'd like to cross-search between multiple journals I designate.
There is "Search within a journal," but it's only for one journal. Please add the facet for multiple journals or the function something like that.

  12. Make Institutional Google Scholar content searchable within Summon

It would be great to see Summon integrated with Google Scholar, allowing for our institution's Google Scholar content to be searchable within Summon.

This would eliminate many access issues that stem from users searching for open-access content that we either don't get from our providers, or that hasn't been indexed yet.

  14. Ability to match language settings of Summon with those of linked contents

At present, the interface language of Summon and that of linked content has no connection at all.
So, sometimes abroad students have to change both language settings of Summon and those of contents.
It is troublesome and loses comfort in research.

  15. Pin "Apply" button on the Facet (Summon mobile screen)

We have an improvement request about the mobile screen on the Facet of Summon.
Because the "Apply" button is fade out if the user scroll down to the bottom.
Not only this, but there are "Search" button where the "Apply" button supposed to be, and the user click "Search" instead of "Apply" unconsciously.

As the result of this mis-clicking, the facet fails often, so we have a request to pin the "Apply" button on the screen even though the user scroll down to the bottom.

Please see the attachment as detail.

  17. Include PMID in Advanced search

Add PMID explicitly as an option under Advanced Search along with DOI and others. PMID is heavily used by health sciences fields.

  18. DB recommender - tags export feature

We would like to be able to export the list of databases and the tags used for the recommender.
Furthermore, it would be nice if we can import the completed list.

  19. Improve holdings display for journals in Summon or turn off catalog details page based on material types

We're looking for ways to improve the way holdings display for journals in Summon.

We're screen scraping Real Time Availability for our books, but our journals just display "Check availability" and link through to the OPAC (because the records have a different structure).

We would like to turn on the catalog details page, but this adds an additional click for users before they can actually see our journal holdings.

For example, here is a journal record in our OPAC (we have print and electronic on the same record):
    http://librarycatalogue.griffith.edu.au/record=b1551062~S1

    and in Summon preview

    Whereas the ebook displays…

  20. Video Game Enrichment with Syndetics

Syndetics offers video game enrichment via UPC, which integrates with things like Primo. While other discovery platforms support UPC integration, Summon does not. Summon should offer a UPC integration with Syndetics for enrichment.
