Allow "on-the-fly" tagging by instructors
Many instructors want to group their readings in a variety of ways - by week, but also by category specific to the needs of the particular course. It would be very useful for instructors to be able to create and apply custom tags to citations and that they can reuses as they need without requiring the need for staff intervention on the Alma configuration side.

Allow institutions to configure the maximum number of citations on a list after which sections will be collapsed by default
It would be useful if we could configure the number of citations on a reading list over which the sections will be collapsed by default. The system setting is that any list over 100 items will be collapsed as default view, and we have the setsectionview parameter set to 'Yes' to allow default view to be manually overridden on a list by list basis, but we'd like there to be something in between that kicks in automatically, so shorter lists will still be expanded (which saves staff/students having to make extra clicks to view the full list) but…

Expand Cross Ref Link resolver to include article subtitle
We have encountered cases wherein the Leganto articles do not resolve to the correct article; instead, they link to another article with the same title. After consultation with Ex Libris, this linking error was determined to occur for articles with duplicate titles because the CrossRef DOI enrichment for the linking parsers only uses the title as a match point.
Currently, addressing these errors requires Ex Libris intervention to make an exception for the citation. To prevent these errors in the future without one-off exceptions, we request an expansion of the CrossRef augmentation logic to include the subtitles.

Automatic refresh on embedded reading list / citation (on Canvas) when updated in Leganto
When a citation is updated for an already published reading list, which is embedded in the LMS (Canvas) as a Reading List or embedded item, the Canvas citation isn't updated. This means the citations aren't updated in Canvas. This should be automatically refreshed if the citation is updated.

Display the "Add Citation" button as citations are added to a Reading List in ALMA
We propose that the "Add Citation" option within a Reading List in ALMA become fixed (visible to the editor) as the editor adds citations.
Currently, in lists with many citations, the editor must return to the top of the List to continue adding citations.
It would be helpful to make the "Add Citation" option more accessible to avoid constantly scrolling back to the top.

Different default section views
Following user testing, we set our sections as collapsed by default.
However, some lists have only one section, and when going into such lists it can look very odd to land on a single collapsed section. It would be a lovely little enhancement if you could set that Lists with >1 section have collapsed by default and lists with only one section are default expanded. (I'm aware that lists can have individual defaults set, but I don't think many users are aware of this despite training and documentation!)1 vote -
Configuration option to automatically remove tags depending on the citation status
Some tags in Leganto are only used to trigger or label library workflows, e.g. purchase requests and digitization. If a citation with such a tag is set to complete, the workflow is also completed, and the tag is therefore no longer required. At the moment, these tags can only be removed manually. We would like to have the option to configure that such tags are automatically removed when the citation is set to ‘Complete’ or another citation status defined by the library.

Show course details when selecting a list to copy a section or item to
In Leganto, when copying an item or section to another list, no course details are currently displayed. This makes it difficult or impossible to select the correct list to copy to. Some courses share the same name (and therefore the same list name) but have separate lists, such as in the case of a postgraduate offering and an undergraduate offering. Additionally, some courses may have an active list for each semester the course is offered. Other lists may share the same generic title, such as ‘Resource list’. In these cases, it is impossible to select the right list to copy…

Add PNX record to citation data
Troubleshooting Leganto links is more helpful when staff can understand where the record originates or is pulled from. Leganto allows staff members to search by PNX record ID and the Alma MMS ID. However, when broken links are reported, this information is not shared in the citation metadata.
Adding this data to the process would help ensure that staff can compare the correct items when troubleshooting broken links. While we know there is a citation origin field in Leganto Analytics, it would be more effective to go a step further and have an option like a bookmarklet that can be…

Don't include deleted citations in analytics reports
I regularly work from quite long Leganto analytics reports to tidy up data and correct any errors in citation records. One thing that is very frustrating and wastes quite a lot of time is that citations which I can only presume have been deleted appear in such reports. I'm not sure why they should appear if they have been deleted (or the list they appear on has been deleted) but it would be great if the analytics reports could be tweaked so that such citation IDs no longer appear. Either that or at least have an option to exclude them.

All instructors to turn off replying function to their public annotations.
Many Instructors would like to use the public annotations to highlight specific sections of text, but don't wish for students to reply to their annotations, only to read them. By turning off the ability to reply, these annotations could then be rolled over without concern about rolling over student comments.

Add number of comments in Library Discussion at citation level too
The Library Discussion at list level currently shows the number of comments in it from the list view. It would be useful to have the same functionality for the Library Discussion at citation level too

Make all table columns for Courses and Reading lists search results sortable in Alma
For tables in Alma: it would be relevant if all columns are sortable by default.

Leganto mobile Experience improvement
Some functional and layout aspects need to be improved in the Leganto Mobile Experience.
Leganto mobile hasn't any top header; the app is completely anonymous (neither the institution logo nor the name of the product is visible)
The layout of the general menu is different from the one presented in May 2024, and it has a lot of line spacing. "Upcoming due dates” are always visible also for institutions that disabled this feature.
The names of the reading lists are truncated if they are quite long. We’d expect complete list names to be shown, spanning multiple rows if needed

Allow additional staff roles to be configurable in Courses and displayed in Leganto
I would love the option to configure a new Course Instructor role in Alma/Leganto; it could be called something like ‘Course Collaborator’ to use wording consistent with other similar roles. This could then map more accurately between different staff roles in the VLE and different reading list ownership roles. Currently there is only one overarching Course role (Instructor), but the Course is the LTI linking point between VLE page and reading list, and the Course Loader is where you update details in bulk, so there does not seem a good way of keeping 'list collaborators' up to date without doing…

Add a status of 'digitisation archived' for DCS requests
Currently there are two statuses for digitisation request licence status - approved or rejected. Requests that have been temporarily archived show as 'digitisation rejected' which is inaccurate and could be misleading. We would like to request a new status for those requests that exist in the DCS, but have been archived and are not currently available to students.

Rename citation file after upload
Currently the only way to change a citation file name is by downloading, renaming, and then reuploading renamed file, after deleting previous version. It would save a lot of time to be able to edit the file name directly in Alma, without having to download and reupload when using a specific name file convention.
The team that scans and uploads files is different to the reading list processing team and the file needs to be named correctly at a later stage after it's been uploaded. We also receive resource sharing files from partner libraries where we can't control how the…

Better layout for ‘Ask your library to create your list’ on the quick start screen
Libraries can display the “Ask your library to create your list” option on the quick start screen. We think it would be great if this option would be displayed in the same layout as the options “Create new list” and “Select existing list” in a box with title, image, description, and button.

Citation thumbnail images - upload by Library staff (separate to instructor file upload)
Currently it is only possible to upload a citation thumbnail image in the Leganto interface (Librarian view) when the instructor file upload parameter is set to allow instructors to upload, i.e. maxfilesizeallowedfaculty_MB is not zero.
It would be useful for Library staff to always be able to upload/edit the citation thumbnail image, and for this to be separate from any instructor-only configuration. It would be particularly beneficial as part of enabling Library Staff to check and manage lists, in their own view in the Leganto interface.
