Allow users to choose how many results to see
With a lot of online retail sites, users are able to choose how many search hits they see per page.
Would this be a helpful addition to Primo?
After all, since the new UI was introduced, the subject of infinite-scrolling vs paging has been contentious amongst Ex Libris customers. It has already led to the addition of the 'Next Page' widget.
Allowing users to choose how many hits they would like to see might take a lot of the debate from us, and put the decision directly into the hands of the end user.
85 votesThank you for this suggestion. With the new pagination method released in Primo May release, Primo VE June release , users will be able to set the number of results to 10, 25 or 50.

Ability to choose more granular subject links and not just the entire string, as in: "Comic books, strips, etc -- Social aspects -- United"
Ability to choose a section of a subject links and not just the entire string. E.g. "Comic books, strips, etc -- Social aspects -- United States" can only be selected as a whole, but not as individual parts, such as "Comic books, strips, etc."

Show My Account and Sign In without extra click and Show logged in user's name under Sign Out
Hello,
The California State University (CSU) system has developed custom angular js to Show My Account and Sign In without extra click and Show logged in user's name under Sign Out as the OTB functionality for the new Primo UI, forcing one to hover over the "Guest" label seems inadequate from a usability perspective.
We would like to know if ExLibris can build-in this angular js functionality into the main source code for the new Primo UI, so the current, inadequate OTB functionality for signing into My Account can be addressed.
Here is the angular js code for the CSU:

Offer library-controlled "Looking for...?" suggestions
When a user is searching for a common title but not necessarily easily found, like "Wall Street Journal," we want to offer a highlighted link, "Looking for the Wall Street Journal" that goes to the destination of our choice, which in this case would be the WSJ online database. We have many records for WSJ different editions etc. and it can be challenging for the user to find the "primary" one.
72 votesThank you for this great idea. we are pleased to announce that this functionality is implemented in Primo as part of the Resource Recommender.
Recently we have enhanced it: allowing suggested resources to be returned through the enrichment of searchable tags by adding synonyms, inflections and more. Please refer to knowledge center for more information

Adding a "requester note" in Primo for a patron when making a purchase request
There is no possibility in Primo for a patron to add a note to explain why a they would like the library to purchase an item, when making a purchase request.
However, In Alma there is a "requester note" where you can state the reason the patron has requested the item, but this cannot be done in Primo.
So I suggest adding a requesters note in Primo, so the library will have more information as to why they should purchase an item for a patron.
72 votesThank you this suggestion. This is now available in Primo VE November 2019 release.

Add an option to "expand my results" from the "no records found" page
Currently the "no records found" page doesn't provide an option to "expand my results". Since the default behavior is to search without that option, a properly formed query for an existing item outside our collections yields the discouraging no results page. The message provides suggestions like "check your spelling." Please provide an option to try the search again with "expand my results". Ideally, Primo would know ahead of time if such an expansion would yield results and would only offer it if that was the case.

Primo VE doesn't have a boosting ability
Primo VE can't boost like traditional Primo. We would like to see that brought in for us to be able to boost similar to how it is configured in the back office
69 votesThank you for posting this idea. This feature is released in Primo VE as part of September 2019 release.

Increase the number of records allowed in the “View Online” tab
Right now, only 25 records can be displayed under the “view online” tab in Primo. If this limit is increased, or removed entirely, libraries will have greater flexibility when creating collections. For example, we have 48 local portfolios that we linked to a single bib record, and we would like all of those portfolios to be displayed under the “view online” tab of that item. So, we propose removing the limit altogether, allowing libraries to decide how many records they want to appear under the “view online” tab. We worked on this project with Ex Libris, and they ultimately advised…

Display of earlier editions in 'View x versions' feature instead of latest ones
Unfortunately, and I've noticed this with other titles in Primo, e.g. Begg Economics, the latest editions of titles are hidden in the 'View x versions' area of Primo while the earliest edition is displayed in the search results. It would be better perhaps if the latest edition displayed with the option to view earlier editions under the 'View x versions' feature.

Improve visibility of sticky facets
The sticky facets are an excellent addition to the functionality of the new UI, but the probability of users discovering them is quite low.
In usability testing students will alter their search terms without ever hovering their mouse over the filters they have applied to their previous search, and then have to reapply the filters.
While the padlock is hidden behind a mouseover interaction this very desirable functionality is undiscoverable.
Also in its current configuration the tooltips for the selected filter and the padlock clash.
The padlock for making your selected filter 'sticky' should be visible by default, and probably…
61 votesThank you for this suggestion, this was part of the improve sticky facets behavior released in May for both Primo and Primo VE.

Session Timeout Warning
It would be most helpful if a 'Session Timeout' warning could be displayed a certain amout of time before the session actually ends. Included in the warning could be the options to 'keep me logged in' or 'log out now'.
60 votesThe option to show a "Session timeout" message and to allow extending the session will be available in May 2023 release.
Best regards,
Yael.

Integrate the Alma Digital Viewer into the Primo UI
I see a breaks in the user experience consistency with the Alma/Primo combination with the link to digital objects in Primo. The link is opening the Alma Digital Viewer and it's look and feel is totally different from the Primo UI. Primo is the interface to the customer. Please integrate the UI into Primo and let Alma manage the objects and the metadata.
What my webmaster is missing and criticising on the Digital Viewer page:
- it delivers the wrong favicon
- link behind the Alma logo points to the actual Digital Viewer page
- link behind the institutional logo…56 votesPrimo VE provides Quick Access service embedding Alma’s new digital viewer to allow users to quickly access and view digital representations within Primo Full record.

Easily share records in Social Media
When sharing a record in social media (Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.) using the Full Display page's URL - it would be better to see in the preview the Name, Description, Domain, and Thumbnail of the record that has been shared.
Please see the attached PDF file for a detailed example.
47 votesThank you for posting this idea. By adding Open Graph meta-tags to Primo Full Display page, Social Media crawlers can use this information to display a preview for Primo link once it is shared.

Incorporate e-resources in the Virtual Browse tab
We would very much like the option to have the Virtual Browse carousel interfile e- and print resources. Currently the carousel only includes print resources.
Curtin University (http://catalogue.curtin.edu.au/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do) seem to have achieved this (see the 'Further Reading' tab under the search results) and you can clearly identify which are online and which are print resources.
27 votesThank you for this ideas . This is now included with Primo VE December release.

Citation Trail on the Brief display in Primo New UI
Our users miss the Citation trail on the brief display in the New UI.
eg "when researching a new subject one strategy is to look for articles that have a number of citations. This helps to find those articles that are cited a lot and so are especially significant within a domain and also allows a way to quickly expand reading to cover other relevant articles. Having the citations appear on the results list therefore helps to identify such articles without having to click through each one in turn, making searches more efficient.

Provide a way to configure which citation style is the default selection in the Citations dialogue
It would be helpful if we could set a particular citation style to be the default style that is selected when users open the 'Citations' dialogue from the 'Send to' actions. At present it always opens on APA because it is the first style in the list.
For example at my institution we have courses that use APA and MLA, but the majority use Harvard style, so I'd like Harvard to be the 'selected' style shown when the dialogue opens.
26 votesPrimo now supports Citation Style Language (CSL).
You can now manage which citation styles to display and the order of them -
Configure option to display export to Leganto action for certain usergroup
We do not allow students to create reading lists so the export to reading list action is redundant for most of our users. We would like for staff to see the icon when they are logged in to Primo but otherwise it should be hidden.
23 votesWe are closing this idea and would like to provide details on the “Reading List” option in Primo as exist todays.
The “Reading list” action in Primo is available for both stuff members and students:
- For stuff members there will be an option to select to which reading list they can add a citation
- For a student there will be option to add a citation to his collection , we have recently change the text to make it more clear to the patrons that they can “click on the ‘Add to Reading List’ button to add a citation to their collection” -
Create shorter permalinks to records
They are very long right now--would be useful to have shorter links to share with users!

Remove "Add to e Shelf" from copied text
Users often copy and paste titles of works from Primo brief search results, to use in other searches or documents. The user selects the hyperlinked title text and copies. When it is pasted, the phrase "Add to e Shelf" is added in front of the title, even though it doesn't appear in the brief search results. This is very confusing to patrons, who frequently don't notice this sneaky addition to their copied text and wonder why their new search is "not found". We would love to see this phrase removed from the copied text.

Allow Main Menu Links to be Configurable on Primo Services Page in New UI
We would like to be able to configure Main Menu Links on the Primo Services Page.
When a patron lands on the services page, they should have the same Main Menu options as any other Primo page: New Search, Browse Search, EJournals, Citation Linker, etc.
Unfortunately, these "Main Menu links in the New UI Services page were suppressed by design."
Thanks,
