  1. Multiple CDI records for one article by the languages of its metadata

Please do not use language filter when CDI merges records. It creates multiple records for one article, which confuses our patrons. (Case 00881023, 00824833) If CDI cannot merge them well, please provide a kind of "See Also" link to other records which have the same DOI. (CDI e-book records already display "Chapters of this book" link under the availability status.)

Many of non-English articles have English version metadata too because many journals oblige it. Western aggregators index English metadata whereas local aggregators index local language metadata. The problem is most of times they don't care about the language of the…

  2. Configure collection discovery to display in shelflist order

We are using Collection Discovery to create new books browsing for our top subject areas but it would be great if they could display in shelflist order so like books group together.
What we really want is a low maintenance bookshelf browse feature which auto populates with new resources and removes the old. Anyway, display in LCC or some shelflist order would be good, even if the call number is hidden (because many are ebooks and it might confuse patrons).

  3. Keep chosen UI language after login

At the moment, following login, the Primo UI changes to either

    a) preferred UI user language as indicated in the user preferences, or

    b) default language

This leads to odd situations, for example,

    • User changes UI (from German) to English -> everything is now in English

    • Does a search etc etc -> still in English

    • Logs in - Login etc window in English

    • After successful login, the user is returned to Primo... but in German!

This is inexplicable for the user, and unless they know about preferences, and where to set them, it happens every time.

    Note to change preferences…

  4. Display multi-lingual values in facets in a consistent order

Currently, same values in different languages in multi-lingual facets (topic, author) appear randomly.

We suggest to create a consistent language order independent of the sort by_size configuration option, so that the values in these facets will be displayed by the determined order. For example, if the order will be: Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Cyrillic - the values will always be displayed by this same language order.

See example image provided for the following search:
    https://haifa-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/search?query=any,contains,gibran%20kahlil&tab=default_tab&search_scope=books_and_more&vid=HAU&lang=en_US

We are suggesting that for the facets set by size in the View, the same value in all languages will be grouped together and displayed one…

  5. We would like patrons to be able to view their library barcode in Primo.

Under My Library Account > Personal Details, we think patrons should be able to view their library barcode number. We use ours in additional systems, and we think it would be helpful to point someone to their library account details.

  6. Better Primo VE Menu Link Options

Custom menu links in Primo open in a new tabbed window. This is bad behavior. If I go back to the original screen and press the button again, it opens up another window in another tab, and so on.

    Desired Behavior:
Menu link goes to address -- does not open a new window or tab. At the very least, it should have be an option for developers. Currently it is hard-coded in the html and not changeable. Using it leads to cluttered browsers.

  7. Ability to use other fields instead of interface name for View Online fields

We are looking to change the display of the "View Online" space. At the moment, if a resource does not have an Interface name, it displays "view full text". I would like to suggest to have the ability to use the Electronic Portfolio name as an option.

Reasoning behind this: We have hundreds of vendors as well as use Ebsconet as our subscription manager. It is clunky to go in to every single vendor just to add an Interface name.

  8. auto announcement for maintenance or outage

We would like to see built into Primo (all flavors NUI/VE etc) an auto announcement banner when there is scheduled maintenance or major outage.

We would also like the message that it displays to be customizable via a table in the back office.

This would help to alleviate an extremely manual process that we currently do with pulling the cloud notification emails and entering in text and dates manually to be displayed in Primo. It makes more sense to have this be an automatic process much like the emails sent out by cloud services.

  10. Penalization date visible in users' loan page

Hello! It would be great once we had read the bar code of the user, and we have the general information to do a loan or a return it will be great if there we can see the date until they can't borrow books. If not it is a problem because they ask you until when they are ban and we have to go until their profile to penalty section to see it.

    Thank you!

  11. Sub-collections: allowing a different description at the top level from a click further down

With sub-collections, we would like to be able to have a different description at the top level, than at a click further down.

For instance, on the collections page, a sub-collection description might simply read:

"Relating to agriculture and rural development"

, whereas, once the user has clicked into that sub-collection, they would see a different, and potentially more ample, description, such as:

"Material relating to all aspects of agriculture and rural development including material dealing with soil, irrigation, crops, farming material and village life."

  12. Primo alerts - user defined frequency and digest options

Based on user suggestions, it would be helpful if, when users set themselves an alert for a saved search, they could choose the frequency with which these came through.

Some users might want them more/less than weekly.

Also, perhaps users could also choose to receive the alerts in a digest form: with the update for every search bundled into one email.

  13. To have possible filtering FRBR groups to display only records that match with the search definition

it is important to have possible filtering FRBR groups to display only records that match with the search definition. It happens in recommended bibliography. They are reprints of the same book with the same ISBN, but students need only the last reprint. So, it would be useful to filter FRBR groups and display the last reprint not all of them.

  14. Primo Back Office: In a consortial environment, Ability to localize Alma collections to a specific instance of Primo

    Hello.

Our university system is in a consortial configuration of Alma and Primo Back Office.

Currently, we cannot use Alma collections because one university's (local and institution-specific) collections display in all other Primo instances in our consortia. This is problematic and confusing because a collection at University A displays in University B's Primo as if it were University B's collection. But the collection is local and specific to University A only.

The "collections" I'm talking about are described in the following Exlibris documentation: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/050Inventory/050Managing_Collections
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/060Back_Office_Guide/060Configuring_Primo%E2%80%99s_Front_End/050Collection_Discovery

We opened Salesforce cases 00636941 and 00708998 and were told by the Exlibris analysts that…

  15. Add facets into the Collection Discovery UI

While we are really happy that the functionality to search withing collections is planned, we propose to implement the facets also for the Collection Discovery.

Facets are very useful to limit results in big collections for discovery and browsing, when the user doesn't know exactly what he is looking for. We do have several big collections.
Also, functionality would be more consistent with the Primo Search interface.

  16. Could the blank resource sharing request form check the Alma link resolver before a user submits the request

We have configured the blank resource sharing request form into our Primo menu. Before submitting a request on this form it would be useful if the request was check against our institutional collection using the Alma link resolver (similar to what happens with the Citation linker).

  17. Browse tab results display: don't follow creator immediately by publication date

In the results display on Browse tab for LC call number searches, the creator (1XX) is (almost) immediately followed by the publication date. (There's a space between the two fields). In cases where the 1XX field ends with an open-ended date, it looks like the publication year is a death date.

The attached file has an example which shows:
    Financing consumer sales ... [title]
Geva, Benjamin, 1946- 1984 [authority (1xx) date of publication]

The work was published in 1984, I was in a meeting with Geva last month so he's clearly still alive. The current display is misleading and could…

  18. Differenciating the code for PCI records from the code for Alma records

The PCI records that we don't subscribe and the Alma records without holding show the same labels on Get It section because they share the codes, such as:

    c.uresolver.getit2.holdinglist.empty.top
    c.uresolver.getit2.holding
    list.empty.signedinuser
    c.uresolver.getit2.holdinglist.empty.signedinuser.noservices
    c.uresolver.getit2.holdinglist.empty.guestuser
    c.uresolver.getit2.holding_list.empty.bottom
    (Samples are on SF #00731305)

We want those two groups of records to be distinguished from each other so that we can apply different labels giving more customized information to our patrons.

  19. Primo Saved Search email - link color setting

Improve color customization of Saved Search Email Alerts

The February 2020 Primo feature does not allow us to customize the link text in the header (used for the terms of the saved search), which leads to contrast issues.

Similar to the "Unsubscribe" customization, there should be a similar component to set the color of link text in the header.

  20. Provide option to collapse the Details area of the full record display

We would like to be able to collapse the Details area of the full record display by default in order to reduce clutter. This ability would be configurable ie libraries could choose whether to hide or show by default the Details information.

If configured, we would like to see the heading 'Details' beside a chevron or similar icon that indicates information is hidden. When the user clicks on this icon, the full bibliographic details will appear.
