Display both link in record and links from link resolver in CDI
When there are records in CDI that have link in record, but also would return links from the link resolver both types of links should be displayed to the end user.
The challenges with the link in record are discussed in this idea: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/40487230-preference-cdi-link-resolver-records-over-link-in
They have a tendency to break and if the link for some reason do not lead to the full text the end user does not get any other way to the full text (as they do with the multiple links fromt he link resolver).
We hope that Ex Libris enables the system to display both link in record links and link resolver links for the same item.
This should be done for both Primo and Primo VE. If this should be configurable can be discussed with the Primo Working group.
Thank you for this idea, For CDI records with more than one link option, users now can see the preferred linking option in the View It with an option to show more links. This is coming in Primo VE April release and Primo May 2022 release.

Known Issue, which Ex Libris states won't be fixed, and means we cannot use this feature:
"When the Display Multiple Links from CDI feature is enabled and CDI returns multiple links, direct linking is disabled in the availability statement in the brief results. This means that users are taken to the full display of the record to see all linking options instead of being taken directly to the preferred record's full text.
Currently, there is no plan to resolve this issue."

We are seriously considering de-activating CDI for all link in record collections because having them active in CDI eliminates all of the hard work we do to keep our Alma links current. Choosing an outside link which may or may not work correctly over a link that the library has maintained is a disservice to users. An example of why this is a problem came to light when we activated a link in record collection that was marked as open access in CDI but uses links that are not open access (1findr, which makes CDI records show as OA but that maps to 1Science links which are not OA). The OA mismatch is not the root of the problem discussed here, though. The actual problem is that any nonworking link in record links automatically make it so that users cannot access resources even though we have working links in Alma in collections we have activated for CDI.
The need is to either include both link in record and linkresolver links in a single record, or to prefer linkresolver over link in record.

We definitely want the ability to only show link resolver links and not show link in record links where both link options could display in a single record, so having options to turn link in record on or off where it duplicates with link resolver would be good.
