Display item policy in item record
It would be useful if item policy could be configured as a field to display in either the brief or full item display. Currently, the loanable indicator is defined by the fulfillment terms of use, which is dependent on users signing in in order for Primo to calculate the loan policy specifically for that user.
Having the option to display the item policy from Alma as a field in Primo would be beneficial as this does not change dependent on the user type or fulfillment rules. It would also provide more information to users irrespective of whether they are able to sign into Primo (e.g. users not affiliated to the institution will be unable to sign in) and makes it clearer and easier for staff to explain to customers why a particular item can/cannot be borrowed.

Hi all,
This enhancement is now available with the Primo VE August 2023 release.

This is the idea with most votes now.
No reaction from Ex Libris since 2018.

Did not make it through NERS 2021. There is at the moment only 1 other idea with more votes.
I agree with Helen Barrell, January 2020:
"Please could we hear from someone in ExLibris about this idea?"

NERS 6794, open for voting now.

This would be extremely helpful. Seeing "Loanable" and "Available" when looking at an item causes users believe that they can check that item out of the library. More granularity such as "Available - Library Use Only" (as previously suggested) for non-circulating items would be a huge improvement.

It is an absolute must. Neither patrons nor librarians are able to see those informations in Primo VE...

I would appreciate that so much, as we have quite some items we do not lend out of the house

A way to prominently display additional information about the circulation status upfront is greatly needed. Our system is configured to display non-circulating items as Not Loanable -- but they still display as Available, which is confusing to users. Being able to display some combination of availability, such as Available - In Library Use Only, etc. would make a much better, less confusing experience for our researchers.

Our users don't login to Primo and even the staff can't tell if something can be loaned or not without logging into Alma. We are on Primo VE.

Please could we hear from someone in ExLibris about this idea?
I realise that some users might operate in a way that means say an item can be a 2 week loan for undergraduates and a month for academic staff and would need the facility of a login in order to display loan status.
However, many institutions are simplifying their fulfilment processes. At my library, our items are either loanable or not loanable. There's no need to login to find this out because it doesn't vary by borrower type. It either is or it isn't.
We field numerous complaints from users, sometimes external visitors, who can't get at this information easily, and it's forcing people to take an extra step which, under our set-up, is completely unnecessary.
Please make logging in to find out loan status an option, not a fixed part of the system.
We are using Primo 5.

This would be really good, not being able to see the loan information does cause problems for users and queries for staff.

This would be very useful for Primo 5 too!
