Ability to Run Blank Search with Limiters - Primo VE
I have been asked by one of our Directors if it is possible within Primo VE to conduct a blank search, limited by material type or some other limiter, and get the full result of what is in our collection. I have not been able to figure out if there is a way to do this. She said she came from an institution that had this capability (Alma - Classic Primo), but I am not sure if that functionality is available in Primo VE.
Thank you posting this idea, this is already supported in Primo VE – refer to this article to see “How to get the number of records in Primo VE by criteria”

Hi Bobby
If you ever come back to check: you can't vote here because Ex Libris "closed" this by setting it to 'Already supported'.You can still vote for https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/41754031-ability-to-run-a-real-blank-blank-search-with-face.

For some reason I can't vote on this, but yes, we really need this to work like Summon (or just get Summon back because it worked so much better!). I know ExLibris is saying this is supported, but it is not. It sort of works if you add some other limiter, but you cannot see all collections/locations in your library or fully use all of the available facets like Summon allowed.

If I use "*" and set the year 0001-2021 I get the result list, but I what I'm mainly interested in are the facets.

I also suggest a real blank blank search: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/41754031-ability-to-run-a-real-blank-blank-search-with-face

The solution with "*" is not a user-friendly solution. It should be possible without any search criteria. A * without double quotes: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/41753965-ability-to-run-blank-search-with-limiters-in-advan

I'd like to be able to conduct a search in Primo with no limiters selected - like we have been able to do in Summon.

I think that blank searches are already supported by Primo VE. The Advanced Search allows to perform a search that returns all records for one or more selected pre-filters (such as Material Type and Language). To perform this type of search, enclose the * wildcard in quotes and select at least one pre-filter.

Primo VE Feature Alignment Schedule has been updated in the meantime and the improvement I quoted earlier is no longer on the list.

Hi,
Can you advise what site your director was referring to? As far as I'm aware, it's not possible to run a blank search on Classic Primo.
