Put the FRBR Dedup Test Utility where cataloguers can use it
The FRBR Dedup Test utility is currently hidden in Discovery configuration (Primo VE). The team members who need to use this functionality are cataloguers so they can see what edits might be needed to troubleshoot issues preventing or causing unexpected FRBR/deduplication.
Adding it to the Resources menu in Alma is an option, another might be for cataloguers to be able to trigger it when comparing records in the metadata editor.
34 votesNew discovery role is now available : Discovery Operator – Limited " so more library staff can get access to the FRBR Dedup Test Utility

Allow users to personalize default scope for them
Option to allow a Primo user to select which scope they prefer to work with when multiple scopes. Two possibilities - allow this to be set for as a saved option for signed-in users only, or allow this to be set as a cookie for guest users and be saved as a cookie on that computer. This could apppear as a "Personalize" selection.
This will truly empower users - e.g. if they don't want to see Primo Central results most of the time, they will not be hampered by the library's choice of "All" as a default scope. Or if…
32 votesThank you for posting this suggestion. The direction we choose to implement to allow users to easily navigate to their recent used scopes, you can find more details in Primo August release notes – Easy Selection of recent used search scopes. this is planned to be released in Primo VE September release .

Delete and Monitor User-Submitted Tags in Primo
I would love our students and patrons to adopt the tag functionality in Primo. I like that adding a tag requires being logged-in, which reduces possibility of automated or commercial spam significantly. But there's still significant likelihood of users applying tags with humorous or malicious intent.
Two functions would greatly increase our likelihood of using this functionality rather than just hiding it via CSS:
1. Allow administrators to delete tags.
2. Allow administrators to review tags by searching and browsing in order of most recently applied first. Our implementation coordinator stated that this is currently unavailable for multitenant hosted Primo…

Keep search preferences between searches
We find it annoying that facet selections made in a search are lost when a new search is run. (In both Advanced and basic searches)
So for example if I select a library location or if I expand my results for one search, these settings are lost if I change my search terms.
We would like the selections to stay but with an easy way to clear them if desired.
28 votesThank you for posting this idea, this was delivered as a NERS enhancement “Make facets sticky by default”.

Incorporate e-resources in the Virtual Browse tab
We would very much like the option to have the Virtual Browse carousel interfile e- and print resources. Currently the carousel only includes print resources.
Curtin University (http://catalogue.curtin.edu.au/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do) seem to have achieved this (see the 'Further Reading' tab under the search results) and you can clearly identify which are online and which are print resources.
27 votesThank you for this ideas . This is now included with Primo VE December release.

Citation Trail on the Brief display in Primo New UI
Our users miss the Citation trail on the brief display in the New UI.
eg "when researching a new subject one strategy is to look for articles that have a number of citations. This helps to find those articles that are cited a lot and so are especially significant within a domain and also allows a way to quickly expand reading to cover other relevant articles. Having the citations appear on the results list therefore helps to identify such articles without having to click through each one in turn, making searches more efficient.
I am doing my MSc dissertation research…

Provide a way to configure which citation style is the default selection in the Citations dialogue
It would be helpful if we could set a particular citation style to be the default style that is selected when users open the 'Citations' dialogue from the 'Send to' actions. At present it always opens on APA because it is the first style in the list.
For example at my institution we have courses that use APA and MLA, but the majority use Harvard style, so I'd like Harvard to be the 'selected' style shown when the dialogue opens.
26 votesPrimo now supports Citation Style Language (CSL).
You can now manage which citation styles to display and the order of them -
Inclusion of New UI Top Banner links in Primo Analytics Action Usage Report
We would like the links on the Links Menu that appear in the banner at the top of the screen in the new UI to be harvested into Primo Analytics and to be included in the Primo Action Usage Report. Ideally we would like usage information to be harvested for both links created by ExLibris (such as Tags, Browse etc) and also links that we have added to the menu (for example a link to our LibGuide).
Obtaining usage information for these links will not only be very useful in determining which links we include in the top banner but…
25 votesThank you for this suggestion. Primo now supports the option to get usage information on main menu links by their order.

Central Office institution in My Profile for Primo Central: free for delivery collections should be handled by Central Office Institution
We've created a Central Office institution in My Profile for Primo Central as described in the Knowledge Center
https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo_Central/Product_Documentation/PC_Index_Configuration_Guide/020Primo_Central_Index_Registration/030Consortium_Activation_in_Primo_CentralThis works fine for resources which aren't free for delivery. Collections that are free for delivery have to be activated for each institution within the consortium separately. This means hard and time consuming work if you are supporting several institutions within a consortium like we do.
From our point of view there is no reason why the collections that are free for delivery are handled differently. Main criteria to activate a collection is the quality of metadata in Primo Central. There…

"Give Us Feedback" tool / "Report a problem": separate e-mail addresses
We have been waiting for this enhancement for a long time:
Give Us Feedback Tool (NERS "Report a problem for records in Primo") / Primo May 2022 release:
https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/Primo/2022/001Primo_2022_Release_NotesSince full-text links in Primo are displayed in different places and come from different sources (Alma "View it" section, CDI - "Link in record", Primo Link section), the "Report a Broken Link" option is of course difficult to implement. The "Report a Broken Link" feature as it was available in SFX (an option directly at each full-text link) would of course be more intuitive for the users, but unfortunately it is…
24 votesThis is to update that in November we've added the option to set different email address per category.
Best regards,
Yael.

Searching in Collection Discovery (New UI)
Searching within a collection (or across collections) would be extremely beneficial to the user experience.
This is especially true for digital collections that hold a large number of items, or have significant descriptive metadata in the item record.
23 votesThank you for this suggestion. This was recently released both for Primo and PrimoVE.

Configure option to display export to Leganto action for certain usergroup
We do not allow students to create reading lists so the export to reading list action is redundant for most of our users. We would like for staff to see the icon when they are logged in to Primo but otherwise it should be hidden.
23 votesWe are closing this idea and would like to provide details on the “Reading List” option in Primo as exist todays.
The “Reading list” action in Primo is available for both stuff members and students:
- For stuff members there will be an option to select to which reading list they can add a citation
- For a student there will be option to add a citation to his collection , we have recently change the text to make it more clear to the patrons that they can “click on the ‘Add to Reading List’ button to add a citation to their collection” -
Collapse Advanced Search
When using advanced search it would be ideal to collapse the search box header area so users can see the results right away without scrolling. Most user's screen resolutions are small and they aren't aware if the search was executed without having to scroll down the page. By collapsing the advance search area after the search is executed then the users be able to see the results.
23 votesThank you for this idea. The search results now are more visible to users in the Advanced Search, especially for tablets and small laptops. Primo and Primo VE automatically collapses the Advanced Search form, triggered by a search or a click on hypertext link, allowing the users to view the search results and the search summary line. If needed, users can expand the Search Criteria form.

My Favorites: while pinning item, allow user to choose label
When a user pins an item to My Favorites from the search results or detail view, the item goes to My Favorites without a label. Users would like to choose the label at the time they pin it.
Otherwise, they have to pin things, then go into My Favorites and go through all the things they just pinned a second time. By this time the user may not recall the specific reason they pinned it. We would like My Favorites to work similar to Pinterest and other similar tools, where the user can assign a tag/label as they are pinning,…
22 votesThank you for this suggestion. With the Primo & Primo VE November 2019 release , signed in user can add & label bulk of items to My Favorites.

Improve new sort in collection discovery
As of Nov 2019, we can sort a collection in collection discovery by "relevance" which seems to be arbitrarily applied and title.
- There should be the same sort options (as the main Primo results):
- Date (newest)
- Date (oldest)
Author
Institutions should be able to apply a default of choice
Institutions should be able to remove a sort option
22 votesThank you for this suggestion. you can find now with Primo August release notes and Primo VE July release notes more details on the new sort options with also an option to set per collection the default sort.

Ability to set the default value for Results Per Page
With the improved pagination experience (May 2021 release), it would be great if we could have the ability to set the default number of results per page. Instead of the default value of 10, we would like the ability to set the default value to 25.
22 votesThis is available from February 2023 release.
Best regards,
Yael.

Citation Linker: Article should be default tab instead of Journal or option to configure
The Citation Linker defaults to Journal. We would like the default to be Article since that is how we use Citation Linker the most. We have found that in order to get this to work we would have to do custom java coding.
We would like for Citation Linker to either default to Article or have the ability to easily configure it to show a tab of our choice.21 votesWe are happy to announce that this functionality is available in the Primo new UI from May release

Option to allow patrons to opt-in/ opt-out of sms from Primo VE my account tab.

API for Primo Analytics
Idea: ExLIbris to provide an API for access Primo Analytics in a similar manner as Alma Analytics API
Reason: Without an automated way to extract data from Primo Analytics the usefulness of Primo Analytics is greatly reduced.
We need the ability to extract data from Primo Analytics reports via an API so we can use this data in other ways. Such as importing into other reporting systems (databases, BI tools, etc.. ), merging with out Library/University data/reports, etc..
Any new ExLibris product should provide an API as a standard, from initial release.
Cheers
Justin Kelly
