  1. Allow customer configuration of the types of links in view online section

We have finding aids that are not using linktorsrc because they are properly cataloged. However, we would like the finding aid link to have the same prominence as ‘view online’. Of course we could change the norm rules to include finding aids as linktorsrc, but there may be other reasons customers want the ‘view online’ block to appear that include add link, linktofa or other link category. I think the most flexible solution is to make this block configurable in back office.

  2. Add 562 data from holding record to Primo GetIt tab

Additional Holdings Information can be displayed in Primo GetIt tab, but only some fields of holding record can be used : 867-868-541-561-563-852t.
We would like to have also 562 holding field, which permit us to give a Copy and Version Identification Note for an item. (Subfields $a $b $c would be fine.)

  3. Bib MARC field 561 should be indexed in the Primo PNX file

The MARC 561 field in the bib should be indexed in the Primo PNX file for searching by donors of collections and for patrons seeking metadata from those collections.

  4. Primo VE: Return to classic Primo method of allowing you to jump through attached holdings

In the old Primo interface, there are buttons for jumping through the holdings attached to a record (see the attached image from UCONN's catalog). In Primo VE, all you can do is click on "show more items" to expand the list to include about 15 more items (see the image from the UC Hastings catalog). If you want to see the latest item received and there are a number of records, you have to click on "show more items" many, many times to get to the end of the list. It would be great if Primo VE could go back…

  5. Export from SFX thru MARCIt and pipe up to Primo without the need to load SFX content into Catalog by Creating Normalization Rules

Instead of having to: load MARCIt-enhanced SFX e-records into our Library catalog every month, and then export them from our catalog up to Primo...

It would be more streamlined to have them: export from SFX > thru MARCIt (for extra indexing) > and then straight up to Primo where they'd be normalized and searchable.

This would reduce support time, and our catalog record load, while still having all our content indexed and searchable in Primo.

  6. Automatically open to full display when there is only one result for the search.

When a Primo search finds an exact match (only one record displays in the search results list), it would be useful (and reduce clicks) if the record automatically opened to the full display. If a user knows exactly what they're looking for, the interim (brief) display is unnecessary. A direct link to the full display is currently only possible from a permalink. The permalink contains the publishing id which is not available from Alma APIs, analytics or source record. Search urls using the source record id should automatically open to the full display.

  7. Sort purchase requests in Primo, by newest

It would be really helpful if user were able to sort their purchase requests in Primo by purchase-request creation date newest. Now Primo shows their purchase requests sorted by oldest, normally the user wants to see the follow up of the most recent.

  8. Control Purchase Request Display in Primo by Material Type

Using display logic rules there is no easy way to show the Purchase Request link based on material type. We want to enable the purchase request link for ebooks, but not ejournals. I did come up with a hackey workaround by creating a GES that only does the identification of the journal and then a display logic rule to hide the purchase request if this GES is present, but there seems like there should be a better way to do this?

  9. Add 'Show more' - 'Show less' options

Where Primo displays significant amounts of metadata from a single record in search results and the 'Details' section (such as very long lists of authors / subjects or very detailed summaries, contents notes, etc.), it would be useful if the text being displayed was truncated and options to Show more/less were provided for the user.

  10. Update Primo Central more frequently

As part of our implementation we have been making changes to our holdings in Alma. Following this we often see resources in Primo that are showing up in our full text results but are not available.

We are told this is because the holdings file, that the results are based on, is only updated once a week. It is produced on Wednesdays and then is applied the following Monday.

A more frequent update of the holdings file would be very useful as it would ensure that our users i.e. students and staff are more likely to get accurate information when…

  11. "Personalize your results" - enable to add disciplines, not only delete.

"Personalize your results" is a Primo Central feature. The lists of degrees and disciplines are defined by Primo Central, and can be translated locally via code tables in the Back Office.
It is possible to DELETE degrees and disciplines via the Mapping Table, but currently it is NOT possible to add new ones. We would like tohave the possibility to add disciplines.
    thank you.

  12. Ability to set the primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/ url to redirect to default view.

Currently the / url either errors out or redirects to alma. Since many users just go to the root url it would be great to have this redirect to the default view

  13. Allow reader to sort the values in a facet by A-Z or by number of records.

Most databases such as Web of Science or Ebsco Discovery tool allow the user to determine how to sort the values in a facet (see screenshot)

  14. Make the New Primo UI more CSS friendly

While the new Primo interface gave us more power to extend functionality via JavaScript it does not do the same for modifications via CSS due to the lack of properly marked up content.

In some parts of the New UI the content is well described, often with custom HTML elements, but there are also many places, often in the higher levels in the DOM tree, where better described selectors (preferably through classes) are needed.

For example, there is currently no selector that show the current system that is being displayed. The <prm-explore>-element could have the current system being shown as…

  15. Ability to delete lines from advanced search

At the moment in advanced search in the new UI you can add up to 7 new lines but not delete any of them if you change your mind about a search query and want to delete a line you have added. Clearing just takes you back to the beginning again

  16. Resource Sharing form direct linking to support SAML2 login

Currently direct linking to the Alma Resource Sharing form is only possible with PDS authentication.

We would like to suggest support for SAML Authentication.

The following page on the knowledge centre discusses direct linking to the almarsform

  18. Best bets

Summon has a best bets feature which enables you to have links to Library Opening Hours if that's what someone searches for. Primo doesn't have this, so we are going backwards in customer service when we implement this. Please can you replace Primo with Summon or at least bring Primo up to the same standard?

  19. Harvard referencing (key for UK market for Alma and Primo)

Harvard is the most widely used referencing system in the UK. yet Primo cannot do it. Please make Harvard available asap as we are being forced to change from Summon which has this capability.

  20. BX "Hot articles" is not (yet) in the NUI

It's not the most used function, but still had a respectable 5'000 hits in 2017. We'd like to have it when we change to the NUI in a few weeks, but apparently, it is not yet planned.
