Display book subtitle on researcher profile
When we add a book for a researcher by ISBN, the system correctly puts the book title in the title field and the book subtitle in the subtitle field (example: Title = Epidemic invasions
Subtitle = yellow fever and the limits of Cuban independence, 1878-1930). However, on the researcher record, only the title (Epidemic invasions) displays. When you click the title to get to the Esploro research portal, both the title and subtitle correctly display.Because our profiles are not public, we can't share a link with this example, but you can see it on a Brandeis profile: https://scholarworks.brandeis.edu/esploro/profile/jonathan_sarna/output/publication.book?institution=01BRAND_INST

Offer separate search scopes for faculty and student research assets
Our institution uses Esploro to provide access to two different types of research assets: faculty publications and ETDs. Currently, Esploro offers the option to search ETDs separately from other assets. However, it is not possible to search our faculty assets separate from ETDs. We would like the option of parsing students and faculty assets into completely separate search scopes rather than having them combined into one.

Automatically update Embargoes whose date has passed
Esploro records are Opened automatically after the embargo period had passed – But:
• The records still have "Embargo" in the "Access rights" section of the asset
• "Embargo" still appears on the article’s cover page.It was suggested by Ex Libris support that once in a while we will create a set of all the records for which the embargo date passed, And run on them the 'Update Set of Research Assets' job - replacing the access rights to ‘Open’.
We would like this process to be seamless. We request a job that automatically updates Esploro records whose embargo…
38 votesAs promised, with the December release the coverpage no longer mentions “Embargo” for previously embargoed files.

Report on generated temporary links
At the moment, you can generate a temporary link for a closed file with an expiry date. However there is no way to report on which files have links generated and what the expires are. This means there is no way to revoke links or update users if the file is changed. It would be good if the generated temporary links and the creation/expiry date could be reported on in Analytics.

Add ability to send list of unapproved Smart Harvest matches to confirm
Sometimes it is impossible to confirm Smart Harvest results unless you have a current CV or publication list.
We would like to be able to send lists of unapproved Smart Harvest results to individual researchers to confirm or reject.
Initially, we would like to just send an email to researchers. Eventually, we would like them to be able to mark confirm/reject and reply and the Smart Harvest list would update.
2 votesHi. The ability to select tasks and send them to the researcher has been added to the August release

Add student profiles from Alma as Creators or Contributors for Assets
We would like to track presentations, grants, student art exhibits, performances, and other activities that would qualify as artistic or scholarly outputs by students completed as part of their studies. We would like to add students (via their Alma profile) as Creators or Contributors to research assets. However, it doesn't seem like we can do this unless we add students as researchers. We do not want to create researcher profiles for students. Esploro allows tracking of these via ‘Assets’ but students can only be manually added, instead of imported from their Alma user record. This prevents us from running analytics…
17 votesStudent submission forms for assets other than ETDs will be available in the May release.

Lock Editing of Specific Fields in User Profile
Prevent users from editing specific fields, such as job title, that are controlled by the institution. Some institutions might also want to apply this to educational history.
Suggestion from Brandeis.

Approval notification email - weekly option
It would be good to allow researchers to subscribe to a weekly summary of new assets approved rather than receiving an individual notification for each asset on approval. When adding multiple assets for one researcher, the researcher may feel overwhelmed by the number of separate notification emails. It is possible to turn off approval notifications temporarily, however the librarian would need to remember to manually turn it back on once the assets have been added. Having a single weekly summary notification may be more end-user friendly.

Populate permalink with local DOIs/handles
We are able to generate DOIs for ETDs, but we have found that users are sharing the generated permalink instead of the assigned DOI.
In any instance where there is a local DOI or handle, it would be great to have it populating in the permalink field.

This has been completed in our July 2021 release.

Indication of suppressed asset on Researcher Profile
Currently, there is no indication for the researcher to know that an asset has been suppressed via the back-end beyond the fact that it is not visible in the Research Portal (as it still displays as normal in the Researcher Profile when signed in).
It would be good if there was an indication, similar to the notification when an asset is hidden, so that a researcher is aware that a particular asset has been suppressed in the back-end by the Librarian.

Add local notes field to researcher record
It would be useful to be able to add free-text local notes to researcher records.
We could add employment information if someone works outside of academia.
We could add notes if a researcher dies.
We could add additional information to help disambiguate authors with duplicate names working in similar fields or institutions.15 votesThis has been added to the February 2024 release

Smart Harvesting - Sorting of Very Strong, Strong and Uncertain Match lists alphabetically by title.
The alphabetical sorting of titles in the Very Strong, Strong and Uncertain match lists would make viewing and comparing records much quicker. It would increase administrator efficiency and reduce the possibility of errors.

Add ability to change asset type from author matching review screen OR in editing provisional asset details screen
When approving Smart Harvest matches in the client, sometimes it is easy to tell that an asset is not a journal article, etc. For example if the title has the word Comment or Abstract as part of the title.
Right now you must approve the match and exit author matching to update asset type. This is not efficient, and I often forget to update these.

Afiliations in profiles should have more flexibility
We would like researchers to be able to add an affiliation, whether or not that affiliation is listed in GRID or other system. This would allow them to list commercial entities, as well as smaller organizations that may not be included.
We also do not want the list of titles in affiliations connected to our internal list of titles. Some of the terms (Assistant/Associate/Professor are fairly standard in the US, but other of our local titles are not as standard in at every institution, and definitely may be different internationally.
13 votesHi all,
This ability has been recently added - when selecting the "Enable creation of new external organization" check box in the setting, the user can add new affiliations that are not part of the controlled list.
To see all the places where new affiliations can be added - please see in our online help.

Include DOI and PMID in brief display on researcher profile
On the researcher profiles, it would be very helpful to have the DOI (as a link) and the PMID (also as a link) display on the researcher profile. Our faculty members currently display these on their existing profiles and they are both considered standard parts of citations.

Duplicate publication submission alert
When a researcher is submitting an asset via the researcher profile add content button I would like to see Esploro match to an existing asset. Particulary if the match is on a unique identifier such as a doi for electronic assets or an ISBN for a book. Currently the assets submitted via the profile need to be searched in the backend by library staff to ensure that the asset doesnot already exist in the repository. When the researcher enters a doi and there is an exact match they should be given the option to "display this asset in my profile".…

Add more Esploro information to Analytics
Please include the Abstract, Pages, and Bibliography fields from the Esploro asset record in Analytics.
9 votesDear Colleagues,
Pages and many available fields have been added to Analytics.
Abstracts cannot be added to Analytics since it is a text heavy field and we can't add it at this point.
If there are additional fields missing, please contact our support team to request to add them.
Best Regards,
Na'ama

SWORD for non-ETDs
The SWORD integration currently allows only ETD deposits. Since we have a lot of works that would be deposited by non-researchers that are not ETDs, such as masters projects and posters, we would want to be able to create a SWORD tool that allows deposits of those assets as well by the user themselves. This request is specifically asking for a new SWORD endpoint that allows deposits of normal, non-ETD assets.
8 votesI am happy to let you know that Esploro SWORD supports records in the Esploro format for all asset types. See here for more information: https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/integrations/sword/ Happy Holidays, Shoshana -

We have Theses in Esploro which we want to export to another system.
We would like to be able to export the theses in at least one of these formats:
