Make subtype facetable and display more prominently
The subtype field could make our existing asset types much more flexible if it was a facet and if it displayed in the brief results (both in the portal and on profiles). We use it to clarify "other" and to add more specificity to an existing type, for example Statutory Drafting, Brief of Appellant, Documentary, and Audiobook.
4 votesThe subtype is available as a facet in the Public portal.
The display has not changed.

Make researcher note viewable in more locations
The researcher note was added in Feb 2024. You can view it on the researcher record and in the SH queue on a match for an individual person. However, we need to see these notes (or the presence of these notes) in other places to assist with identifying the correct person.
* When you are in an asset (including when in an asset doing smart harvest) - this could even be an indication of a note on a researcher card
* When merging researchers - this could be an indication of a note on the search results for people

Remove multiple affiliations from an asset
When you select Manage Creators on an asset, you can Update selected author affiliations. However, you can not remove them. When there are many that are incorrect but there is not one thing to change them to, it would make things more efficient if we could also Remove selected author affiliations
5 votesBulk deletion of assets from the Manage Creators/Contributors page was added in the November release. A "Select All" is planned for the February 2025 release.

Make more Asset Fields searchable in Esploro
Several important asset fields are missing in the Esploro search function. Some of these fields may be required filters when creating logical sets for ongoing OAI publishing and all of them would be extremely useful for Esploro users in daily operations. It would be great if asset fields in general were made searchable in the system, similar to the way Alma works. Most of the fields are searchable in Analytics but this is not really an alternative to direct searching in Esploro (e.g. when there is a need to create logical sets for the automated OAI publishing.) Please see below…

Bulk Changes to Asset Authors
As the title says, we would like the ability to bulk edit authors. We have assets that have almost 3000 authors most of which are unaffiliated which we would like to remove. There currently is no mechanism to do this in a timely manner.
We understand that doing this via SmartHarvesting is difficult at best, but an PUT API or or some other process is possible.
The ones we are having the most trouble with are physics papers as we have member of ATLAS which has the aforementioned almost 3000 authors. Currently we have to remove the 'extra' names one…

Orcid affiliation status available in analytics
We would like to be able to run a report of all our affiliated researchers and indicate which of them have affiliated their orcid.
This could be a yes/no flag similar to the "has access to researcher profile" field.Currently, the only way we can get this detail is through the back-end by searching for researchers with Settings :
Has established trust with ORCID1 voteDear Colleagues,
This field and others have been added to our May 2023 release. It is now possible to analyze whether a researcher has added their ORCiD to their profile, established trust and whether you have run the Push to ORCiD job and for which outputs.
We hope you will find this useful,

Add Primary Identifier to Esploro Researcher analysis in Analytics
It will be very helpful to include an identifier field that can be used to match researchers with other campus systems. Currently researcher internal ID is the only identifier field available but this field in not available outside of Alma/Esploro. Please make Primary Identifier and/or primary email address available in Esploro Researchers analysis.
3 votesDear Colleagues,
The primary identifier was added to the Researchers Subject Area.

Improve management of previously affiliated researchers
When a researcher leaves your institution, the only way to presently change their status from "Affiliated" to "Previously Affiliated" is to purge their user record from Alma.
However, there may be reasons for an institution to retain the user's record even though they are no longer an affiliated researcher. For example, the user may be an alumnus or emeritus who retains certain library privileges or has fines associated with their account.
As a result, institutions need a way to transition researchers to "Previously Affiliated" that doesn't require purging their user record.
One possibility would be to add a toggle to…
33 votesCan use the job "update set of researchers" to make affiliated researchers into non-affiliated researchers without any impact on the user record.

Smart Harvest / Smart Expansion - Approval history required
We've noticed that once a Smart Harvest or Smart Expansion asset is approved, there is no record of which user account approved the asset.
For training and quality control purposes, we would like to know who has approved these assets. Please consider adding this function to assets that have been sourced via Smart Harvest and Smart Expansion.
We submitted this as a bug, but have been advised it is an enhancement request.
28 votesThe status date and operator who approved has been added to the Smart harvesting subject area. These fields also display in the author matching task list.

Add the ability to Expand All research units
Research units are currently displayed only in hierarchical list. Therefore, to find a research unit, the user must know the organization's hierarchy. The enhancement idea is either a way to list all units in a browse A-Z, or, more simply, a button to expand-all hierarchy.

Esploro datasets in Google Dataset Search
Making Esploro datasets discoverable in the Google Dataset Search is a high priority for positioning Esploro as a robust data repository solution. A prominent research program has deposited several of their datasets in Esploro. At a recent meeting, the PI indicated that not having their Esploro datasets discoverable in the Google Datasets Search was a significant disadvantage when compared to other data repositories like PANGAEA.
Schema.org tags are required for inclusion in Google Datasets, these tags should be added to Esploro assets.
15 votesMetadata tags were added in the May 2023 release to help discovery and indexing by Google.

Allow researchers to manage notification preferences
Currently, only library staff can subscribe or unsubscribe researchers from Esploro notifications. Researchers must contact the library and library staff must update their notification settings in their researcher record. This workflow is inefficient for both parties. To save time and effort, researchers should be able to manage their notification preferences directly from their researcher profile without library intervention.

Add WOS id as part of Smart Harvest / Smart Expansion
Now that we can display WOS citation counts, we need to find a way to update all our records with the WOS id. For this we are planning to export, match via DOI, and reimport. Moving forward it would be ideal if the WOS id is added to the asset at the time of Smart Harvesting / expansion.
3 votesThe WoS ID is now added when Esploro records are normalized to the Esploro format. This will start working in the July release.

Configure Homepage Entity Link Sorting Options
It would be nice to have the ability to configure sort options for entity links on the homepage.
Under Configuration->Portals & Profiles->Research Portal->Research Portal Configuration->Header/Footer->Header->Entities, the entity links listed can't be configured. There is an item for portalLink that can be enable/disable but can't be customize. The resulting URL that is generated contains the parameter: SORT=RANK.
Since the portalLink displays a browsable listing of Esploro items, it would be more desirable to show items sorted by DATE_D because no search query is specified. The setting SORT=RANK displays records in seemingly random order.
3 votesDear Christian,
This request has been implemented in our April release (2022).
You can control the default sort of asset search results by reordering (by drag and drop) the sort options in the configuration screen - the default would be the first option in the list.
Go to Configuration > Portal and Profiles > Research Portal Configuration and select the Asset Search Page tab.
For a more detailed explanation you can also see our online help here - https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Esploro/Product_Documentation/Esploro_Online_Help_(English)/Configuring_the_Research_Portal_and_Profiles/Configuring_the_Researcher_Portal#Asset_Search_Page_Tab

SWORD deposit compliance with Date formats
Currently SWORD deposit date validation gives errors when Dates in records do not match YYYY-MM-DD format and does not allow deposit. This is problematic as many Published Dates do not contain Month or Day. This also makes Esploro non-compliant with date standards, including EDTF. SWORD date validation should account for the variety of Date formats that can be submitted for bibliographic records, preferably aligned with bibliographic standards like EDTF.

Display of grant acronym in the Esploro portal asset – Horizon Europe
The European Union's Horizon Europe grants require that a grant acronym appear in the repository metadata. Esploro's asset view only includes grant name and id.
Source: EU requirements https://erc.europa.eu/managing-your-project/open-science
Sample Record: https://weizmann.esploro.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/outputs/journalArticle/Identification-of-presented-SARS-CoV-2-HLA-class/993292223803596
Grant displayed: ImmuNogenomics TArgeting Cancer, 754282, European Research Council (Belgium, Brussels) - ERC
Grant acronym in Esploro grant record > Funder abbreviation field: INTACtThese new Horizon Europe requirements will apply to articles published starting in 2022.
It is important that Esploro fulfill these grant requirements in order to be a legitimate institutional repository.14 votesIncluded in the November 2022 release.

Customise tabs on Researcher Profile
We would like to be able to showcase a researcher's Teaching and Supervision and Service and Engagement. therefore we would like to be able to add and edit tabs across the top of the profile. Teaching and Supervision would include current and completed HDR students, Teaching experience as Unit Assessor, Course Coordinator etc. Service and engagement would be somewhere to include editorial board membership, committee membership both internal and external, Working party memebership etc.

This enhancement is supported in our November 2023 version.

Associate ETDs automatically with the relevant author
Currently, When an ETD is loaded to Esploro, its author, the student, is not associated with a researcher.
We ask to add an identifier field in the load file that will allow us to assign a student to an existing researcher.
If the field is blank, no match is attempted.4 votesThis has been done for Import Profiles and Student Deposit. If needed for ETD Admin flow suggest a new Idea be opened.

Add a facet for "Type of Degree"
In case of different degree in the same faculty, such as School of Education offers both EdD and PhD. Currently, the search will return all ETDs in our repository that are associated with the School of Education. So it should capture all the Ed.D.'s, but it also include results of Ph.D.'s as well. There is no facet for type of degree. Therefore, it would be more user friendly for filtering search results by "Type of Degree".
This is about as fine as we can parse it at the moment: https://researchdiscovery.drexel.edu/esploro/search/outputs?query=any,contains,*&page=1&sort=date_d&enable_asterisk_search=true&institution=01DRXU_INST&scope=ResearchETD&mfacet=facet_academic_unit,include,01DRXU_INST___3852,1

Improve search options for DOIs in avanced search (and/or analytics)
We need to identify which assets had reserved DOIs in order to run a bulk job to register them.
It is currently not possible to use advanced search to search for this, or is it possible to obtain this information via analytics.
We need to be able to create a set of assets where DOI is reserved and asset is approved, without having to do export all assets with DOIs, use excel filters to identify those that are reserved, and import those citations back into Esploro to create a set.
We need to identify better within Esploro whether the asset…6 votes
