Export references with highlight or comment
When New RefWorks User tries to print/download a reference, the highlight or comment on the PDF file will be removed. We expect that it is possible to export the reference file including highlight or comment from New RefWorks.

To add to this: it's sometimes tricky to delete a shape annotation.
Integration of simple ctrl+z or adding an undo button would help a lot, just generally.

Dyslexic users especially are asking for functionality to export/download/print notes and annotations with a reference to create a sort of annotated bibliography. Users often ask for ability to output the pdf complete with their annotations.
Some users have switched to Zotero as it meets some of this functionality. -

You may use OCR software to convert scanned PDFs into searchable and editable PDFs. This software works by recognizing text in the PDF and converting it into editable text. Btw, you may give https://smartengines.com/ a try. I'm pleased of their tool. Another option is to use a PDF editor to add highlights and notes directly to the PDF. Finally, you could consider using a different citation management tool that has the ability to add highlights and notes to PDFs. It may be worth exploring other options to see if there is a better fit for your needs.

There are many different citation management tools available. Do your own research.

Add the functionality to download/export/print PDFs with highlights or comments from Refworks. Currently, highlights and comments are just in the metadata in Refworks.

The highlighting gets corrupted when one zooms in or out. Also, it doesn't seem possible to change the color of highlighting default. I find the default gold hard to see. I also like to color code, and it is too high maintenance to have to change after each highlight.

After taking notes and highlighting, it would be great to download the highlighted version or be able to print it with annotations.

Pdfs that are imported from subscription databases are able to be highlighted and notes created. However, pdfs from other sources, like scanned pdfs, smartphone created pdfs, and pdfs from the web, are not able to be highlighted and notes added. It would be nice if pdfs from any source, imported into RefWorks, can be highlighted and notes created in the document.

Extract annotations as done in Zotero (via zotero/zotfile plugin)--as well as other pdf management options. See:
http://zotfile.com/
This creates a linked file to the pdf that lists all the highlights/annotations; extremely useful research tool (to summarize relevant sections of articles (findings, quotes) and link allows you to quickly go to that article if needed -

Make it possible to download pdfs that have been annotated within RefWorks to retain the annotations and notes.
