Always accurate display of results and associated folders
Unfortunately, in the advanced search, the result display (in my own citation view) does not show the exact hit for each reference (e.g. 1 of 27) and the folder(s) the reference is in.
In RefWorks legacy this was the case and extremely helpful to us.
Will these features still be implemented?I think it is a pity that the folder display is now only in normal or full view.

Displaying folders in own citation style
In RefWorks legacy, you could immediately see which folders a reference was in. – No matter in which view the references were output on the screen.
Now this works only in Normal or Full View. This display would also be very useful in self-created citation styles, especially if a reference has been saved in multiple folders.
3 votesThis feature is included in the April 9. 2024 release. All views display Folders labels.

Add "Ref ID" as a field to an output style.
The authors that I work with like having a bibliographic style that shows the Ref ID in the very first field, before the author last name etc. Thanks in advance!

Remove case sensitive restrictions on account registration
Clients attempting to create new accounts receive the "We're sorry, but it seems your institution does not have a RefWorks subscription" message when capital letters are used in an email address, but are able to create accounts when typing addresses in lowercase letters. A "case sensitive" message would help to resolve this confusion. Alternatively, and better, would be to simply make this field not case sensitive.
2 votesRefWorks no longer limits account creation to small case letters only in email.

Please add the "Duplicate" [citation] option from Legacy to new.
Please add the option to duplicate a citation from Legacy to new Refworks. I have used it often, and find it a quick way to add similar citations that are not from a literature database. It's the "Duplicate" button from the "Edit" option that I miss already. Thanks.
3 votesDuplicate reference feature is now available in RefWorks.

Add working paper as a reference type
Currently working papers are added as 'generic' while many style have specific working paper rules that can easily be applied

Update folder counts upon import
Currently, after importing references from a file and specifying a folder location, the folder count isn't updated until a browser refresh. This can be troublesome because it then prompts to (re)import the folder.

Ability to copy metadata from the deduplication page
It is currently impossible to copy any metadata from the deduplication page, yet it can be useful in doubtful cases to copy a DOI to verify it is correct, etc (I have just found a couple of duplicates that had the same reference but different DOIs: one of the two is somehow broken and non-existent. I had to write down on paper the two DOIs and then type them by hand in order to check the situation)

Cite them right 12th edition
For a subscription service I don't feel you are current. However free alternative reference tools have managed to be more current.

Duplicate references
In RefWorks Legacy it was possible to duplicate references in edit mode. - This was a very helpful tool for example when editing book chapters. Please also implement in RefWorks.

Always show custom fields while editing a reference
The old version of RefWorks had the ability to always display custom fields in edit mode.
In the new version each one has to be added manually with the “Add more fields…” button, which is cumbersome. We use custom output styles and each reference needs the same custom fields to be applied to them.21 votesWe are happy to announce improvements were completed in January 2025 release.

include web retrieval date in bibliography
I am using APA 7th addition and the bibliography is 'Checked' on. I want to include the retrieval date for my websites I am referencing, but I don't know how to add it?

Inclusion of page numbers in the numeric styles with RCM, specific AMA 11th. ed.
The citations style AMA 11th. ed. is a number style with superscript. Although the focus is on numbers it is possible to add page numbers to the superscript according to the AMA Manual of Style: A Guide for Authors, 2020, p. 64.
With RCM it is not possible to add page numbers - I have tried to use the suffix-field - but it does not respond on "Edit citation".
I did the same thing within Mendeley Cite and EndNote - using the suffix-field - and in these programs you can add the page numbers to the AMA superscript style.

Remove database permalinks from APA 7 formatted citations
The various APA 7 citation styles reference list citations erroneously include the permalink to database records when exported from such database vendors as ProQuest and EBSCOhost., as shown here:
Kudlats, J., & Brown, K. M. (2021). Knowing kids makes a huge difference, part II: Advancing a conceptual framework for positive principal-student relationships. Journal of School Leadership, 31(5), 451-477. https://ezproxy.bethel.edu/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=eric&AN=EJ1312200&site=ehost-live&scope=site http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/1052684620935384
Because so many of our databases come from these vendors, our users are required to extensively edit their reference lists. While we always advise the necessity of proofing and editing RefWorks citations, such a glaring and consistent error discourages our…

Enable search of shared Folders
Searching inside Refworks does not find records in Folders that I Joined in the Sharing area.
Only records in my own account are found by the search. Neither Insitutional nor individually Shared folders can be searched.
The usefulness of Sharing is much less when users can't find what they need in the folder.

Field mapping and labeling - motion picture
In the Video reference type the labels ‘Studio Location’ and ‘Distributer/Studio’ are used. However, in the Motion Picture reference type, instead of ‘Studio Location’ the label ‘Place of Publication’ is used.
This is confusing for students. Can the label be modified by RefWorks or alternatively is there a way to customise it locally for our institutional style?
There is also a strange mapping issue between Motion Picture and DVD:
- If you have a record in ‘Video’ ref type format and change it to ‘Motion Picture’, you have to do delete ‘Medium’ and then add it again (otherwise it does…1 vote
