Make it faster
For something that it paid for, my RefWorks is always moving REAL slow compared to other paid reference managers I've used (mainly EndNote). RefWorks seems to have trouble handling the 2,000+ references I've accumulated (and continue to accumulate) over my career.
0 votesThank you for your feedback. We have introduced improvements to optimize performance in RefWorks. Note, that performance is also affected by connection speeds, as RefWorks is a cloud-based service.

New Folder
Importing a citation from an external source, the site asks what folder. Can you put a create folder ability on the window? The window 'pull' down that lists my current folder/location. It would be helpful to have the ability to create a new folder there. Right now, you have to go out of the import window, etc.
Also, importing citations, the same window asking for the location. When you select a check box, the window doesn't auto close (which it should). To close your selection, you must mouse click out on the page. Then the window closes, but doesn't show…

Allow page numbers to be included in in-text citation for books in Google Doc AddOn
It is currently not possible to add a specific page number or page range to an in-text citation when citing pages from a book. It is very common to need to cite particular pages, rather than a full book, so I expect this feature would be widely welcomed and used. Thank you!

Allowing tags to be searched across shared folders
The professor was using a RefWorks shared folder for a class where the entire class worked on the bibliography for a major data research project. Each student needed to get credit for the number of good references they found so they tagged their references with their name. The professor found she couldn't search for the names to see all that student's references since tag search was limited to the tags she created. Our workaround was to create a shared project rather than a shared folder. That then meant all tags were shared. It's not necessarily a problem without a solution,…

+Yellow pop-up menace+
I propose that this pop-up have a box to tick to say 'I understand' and for the pop-up to then disappear.
The pop up says:
This view is limited to 2000 references. For suggestions on how to work with lists of more than 2000 references, please see Ex Libris Knowledge Center
I have 79 references at present. This pop up is irrelevant. I would like to be able to x off the pop up permanently, or until my references reach 1900.
Thank you.

Allow alteration of Tags at import
Without increasing the number of clicks to import, please add the function to change tags at import. This function could be added to the Import References/Assign to Folder page without requiring additional clicks if the user is happy with the tags being brought in.

RCM Improve Search
Trying to locate the needed reference to cite in RCM is very difficult. Can't search within a specific folder. Can't search for more than one term or a phrase. If too many results are found no way to narrow further. Help!
2 votesSearch in RCM is available for all references as well as in specific folder.

Edit Tag Names
If a tag has a typo or I realize it needs more or less nuance, if would be nice to edit the names of tags instead of just creating a new tag. Creating replacement tags means redundancies or duplicates when I look at the list of tags. Thanks.
9 votesTag names may be edited today by using Bulk Edit option.

Allow searching by PMID in PubMed
It would be helpful to be able to search by PMID when searching PubMed through RefWorks (i.e. through the "search databases" button on the left side of the screen). Sometimes we are searching for specific articles and have the PMID so that would save us time.
7 votesRefWorks is happy to notify you that you may use PMID or PMCID when seearching in PubMed via the Search Databases feature.

Display Institutional Output Style
Please display the institutional output styles always when we open the menu to select it on the pull down of New RefWorks. Legacy version has "favorites" to display the specific styles for each institution.
3 votesI am happy to update this was added to (new) RefWorks in the May release – users now have 3 quick access menus for recent, custom and institutional styles (to which a favorites menu will be added later). It will be available in the updated RCM as well once it will be in the Microsoft Store.

Strengthen email verification process
During the recent problems with SSO we've been encouraging students to use the forgotten password option to create an alternative password.
This has highlighted that students often mis-spell or use incorrect email addresses when initially seeting up their accounts.
Despite the fact that on setup RefWorks asks students to confirm their email address, students can bypass verification and potentially go on to use RefWorks with an incorrect email adrress attached to their account.
Strengthening the verification process, e.g. by activating accounts only upon reciept of the confirmation email would help to avoid this.

References Created per Month in new Refworks
The "References Created per Month" statistics are offered by Legacy RefWorks but not by New RefWorks. These statistics are really useful to evaluate the RefWorks usage in our libraries and they are the more important for us.
We like to have these statistics in New Refworks too.
7 votesI am happy to update that number of references created per month will now be included in usage reports provided by the RefWorks team (they can be requested via your RefWorks CRM). This data will be added to the Admin area of RefWorks at a later time.

HTTP prefix inserted to DOI
I'm very happy to hear that APA 7th was updated so that the correct prefix is now inserted to the doi code (see https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/909445/suggestions/39183304).
Now, please note that this should apply also for all other major styles! The doi has really become a standard and therefore, reference management software should definitely support the use of doi, and expressly by inserting the entire prefix https://doi.org/ as now recommended in the latest Crossref standard https://www.crossref.org/display-guidelines/
So please, perform the corresponding update also to other major output styles, such as Chicago, Harvard,Vanouver

Multiple URLs on record import - separate? or block
Records can't support two links in the URL field, but mutliple URLS on import are all placed there. Some databases (Ovid) allow inclusion of either the "permalink" record URL and/or the external link resolver (full text). When the records are in Refworks, neither link works because they are in one URL field with a space separating them. It would be great if RW could support multiple links for a record (via import) but if not, then perhaps block on space or on the next "http" found?
7 votesWe are happy to update that records now support multiple links in the URL field. This has been implemented in the May release.

Show the record count of ONLY the folder being deduplicated
When finding duplicates in a top level folder, the record count shows the sum of all subfolders too, which suggests that they are ALL being searched (they are NOT at present). If the record count shows only the active folder being searched, it is more clear.

Clearer web page instructions for creating an alternative password for RCM.
More detail of how to set up the alternative password option would be useful. We no longer recommend using WNC and want to encourage new users to try RCM. The current account management page doesn't make it very clear: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Product_Documentation/RefWorks_User_Guide/0200_Getting_Started_with_RefWorks#Managing_Your_Account
1 voteA new article has been created explaining how to create an alternative password: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Knowledge_Articles/Athens_RCM
