Ensure the DOI field enables hyperlinks to work
I've noticed when you pull references into a biliography the DOI links rarely worked - despite double checking them. Then when clicking on the DOI link in RefWorks, the links rarely work then either. This means going through all my references once exported and going back to the original article and copying and pasting the original DOI (which looks the same as in RefWorks) to get a working link. Must be something to do with background programming. Can it be changed?

RCM Sort options: Ascending/Descending and within search results
RCM search only sorts in descending order, nice for Dates but less for text fields (Author, Title). Toggle ascending vs. descending of a sort field would be ideal.
Also, I notice that when searching for a reference in RCM, there is no sort at all. Adding the same (or any) sorting to RCM search results would really help.

add display scopes to the dropdown in all citation style list
In 'All styles' page, only 17 citations are displayed and the user has to click page number to look through all styles list.
Path: 'Create Bibliography' > 'Citation Style Editor'
Please add display scopes to the dropdown same as the one in display option(references per page) from main page.
For example,
scale 25 to 1000 citation styles per page.13 votesWe are happy to announce improvements were completed in January 2025 release.

Refworks citation manager - where a citation indicates "(missing data)" there should be an easy method for determining exactly which elements are missing rather than a trial and error process. Perhaps Refworks could provide an indicator within the citation creation process as to which fields will result in missing data if not completed.

Make save button more prominent
It would be great if the save button on the reference information editing screen was more prominent. For example, it could be a different color, like blue. Right now it is hard to find and I accidentally click the x button at the top instead, which means I lose my work. You could also add a window that asks if you want to save when you click the x button. Thank you.

Refworks citation manager
Refworks citation manager - the order of folders to narrow the citation selection from 'all references' down to a particular folder should be reversed, such that the most recent folder created, and therefore the one most likely to be required, should be at the top of the list and not the bottom.
2 votesThis idea is closed as completed. Folders in RCM are ordered in the same way as they are set in RefWorks.

Remove final periods from footnote citations with multiple references
In Chicago Notes & Bibliography style, footnote citations with multiple references are showing the final period (".") after each reference, even though RefWorks is correctly separating each reference with a semi-colon (";"), as per the Footnotes settings. Can you include a setting to automate removal of the final period?
For example, when I add a footnote with one citation with RefWorks Citation Manager in Word, it correctly formats it as such:
Clifford Geertz, The Interpretation of Cultures; Selected Essays (New York: Basic Books, 1973).
However, when I add a footnote with two references, it does the following:
Clifford Geertz, The…

In RCM, allow reordering of references within a group of in-text citations.
In WNC we could re-order in-text citations within a reference grouping, but there's no way to do this in RCM without deleting them all and re-adding in the preferred order, which can be time consuming with many references. This is relevant for numbered styles such as AMA. For example:
Original:
Many studies have found xyz. 1,2,3
Ref list
1. Smith 2023
2. Jones 1999
3. Bates 2004Then we decide to move Jones into the first position for:
Many studies have found xyz. 1,2,3
Ref list
1. Jones 1999
2. Smith 2023
3. Bates 20043 votesWe are happy to announce this improvement was completed in January 2025 release.

Add option to include publication field in a repeated reference when author unkown
In the Footnotes Settings in the citation style editor, there is an option to "Show only author, title & cited pages" for a repeated reference. This is great!
However, in Chicago Notes & Bibliography style, when the citation for an unsigned newspaper article is repeated (for example), the shortened citation should also include the publication.
For example, this reference would be initially cited as such:
"Number of Out-of-Wedlock Births a Record," Hartford Courant, November 26, 2006.
But the shortened note should read:
"Number," Hartford Courant.
Can you add an option to include the publication field when there is…

Always accurate display of results and associated folders
Unfortunately, in the advanced search, the result display (in my own citation view) does not show the exact hit for each reference (e.g. 1 of 27) and the folder(s) the reference is in.
In RefWorks legacy this was the case and extremely helpful to us.
Will these features still be implemented?I think it is a pity that the folder display is now only in normal or full view.
3 votesAdvanced search result page shows # of # of results indication on top of the page. Click on "Customize" in upper right corner of page to select whether you would like to show Folder(s).

Always show custom fields while editing a reference
The old version of RefWorks had the ability to always display custom fields in edit mode.
In the new version each one has to be added manually with the “Add more fields…” button, which is cumbersome. We use custom output styles and each reference needs the same custom fields to be applied to them.21 votesWe are happy to announce improvements were completed in January 2025 release.

Ability to copy metadata from the deduplication page
It is currently impossible to copy any metadata from the deduplication page, yet it can be useful in doubtful cases to copy a DOI to verify it is correct, etc (I have just found a couple of duplicates that had the same reference but different DOIs: one of the two is somehow broken and non-existent. I had to write down on paper the two DOIs and then type them by hand in order to check the situation)

Displaying folders in own citation style
In RefWorks legacy, you could immediately see which folders a reference was in. – No matter in which view the references were output on the screen.
Now this works only in Normal or Full View. This display would also be very useful in self-created citation styles, especially if a reference has been saved in multiple folders.
3 votesThis feature is included in the April 9. 2024 release. All views display Folders labels.
