Allow "best location" on brief results display to be configured by view
A user viewing a view that is associated with a particular library or campus should be able to view availability of physical items at that library or campus libraries in the brief results layout. This idea is primarily for institutions with multiple libraries and, especially, multiple campuses. Campuses are associated with libraries, and typically a Primo view will be associated with a campus.
Currently "best location" can only be set via the user's IP address. This approach works when users are at the location, but when a user is off-campus, the first location to show on brief results and full display is alphabetical. Providing control over which library is preferred at the view level would give that view's users a better understanding of their quick access to materials. We have done usability testing that showed users who did not see their library listed on a results page assumed that the material was not available at their library.
Note this request was made in a previous idea, https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/32961133-ability-to-select-which-location-appears-first, but Ex Libris considered it to be completed with the addition of IP-based Best Location.
Thank you for this idea. You can now configure your own display order of locations and have this order reflected in both Get It menu and availability statement in the brief results.

It would be great if there was a setting "sort the rest of the libraries alphabetically".

> let the patrons decide ... in the brief title list ... and in the list of pickup libraries.
An additional wish:
After I set a filter for a library via facets, this library should be shown in the brief title list, no matter which library is set as the default.
For this to happen, I should not have to be signed in.

Not identical, but related:
NERS voting 2nd round open until 31.8.2020
6635 Sort order of libraries/locations.
"We are requesting the ability to tailor the sort order of libraries/locations in a more granular fashion by selecting the exact order in which we need these items to appear at both the library and location levels. There are locations such as Africana (protected collection; not for loan) and Law which we want to appear lower on the list than locations Upper Level / Lower Level / Short Loans for example and that we cannot manipulate ourselves and need to."

NERS _Alma_ voting round2 is open for voting, deadline 25.7.2020
"6676
Enable customer-defined order of locations in the Get It menu[...] Ideally, we would like the ability to explicitly define the preferred order in which locations are sorted. For multi-campus institutions, customers should be able to define the location order for each campus including accommodation for different sort orders between Alma available for groups/Primo views."

There are two NERS enhancement proposals on the current first-round Alma ballot that are very similar to this idea: 6676 and 6816. Please consider voting for one or both. 6676 is more fleshed-out, so to avoid splitting the vote, it might be best for everyone to support that one.

This is a critical improvement for us as well. The current situation forced us to remove the RTA in brief display altogether in our library views.

This fix would be a great improvement for districts with multiple colleges. Please make this improvement.

Please make this change. It is a much needed function.

This would definitely improve the user experience for our users. In our multi-campus district, given our network topology, IP-based best location doesn't even work for on-campus users.

The is critical for multi-college districts sharing a single instance of Alma with college-specific Primo views!

And in a next step: let the patrons decide in settings which libraries they want to see first; maybe 1., 2. and 3.
This would steer the display in the brief title list (if none of the three is present, default to the setting when logged out) and in the list of pickup libraries.

This enhancement would significantly improve students' experience with the interface, so I hope Ex Libris will consider its development a priority.

This is an important enhancement request that will improve usability for students, and I urge ExLibris to prioritize it.
