Improve Citations search (Alma workflows) e.g. include Journal title (and chapter title?)
Hi,
Staff find that the Citations search functionality in Alma/Course Reserves is not as effective as it could be for finding updates as the indexes which can be chosen do not cover sufficient citation metadata fields to allow for the most common searches to be supported.
Currently the search options are:
Citation ID
Course Code
Course Name
Creator
ISBN
ISSN
MMS ID
Reading List Name
TitleHowever it is frequently the case when looking to update/correct citations that a Journal title would need to be searched, and unfortunately Title does not cover this aspect of the citation metadata when the…

Search function for Other Formats and Edition
We want the 'Other Format and Editions' section to have a search function so that our librarian can add specific other titles to a citation. Currently, we catalogue records for e-books and physical items separately. This means that the other format and edition does not always find appropriate matches. We have listened to the response in our other Ideas Exchange request and responded, and using ISBN doesn't always work. Furthermore, this adds items to related records, not to 'other formats and editions.' Therefore it would be much easier to have a search function within this section to pick which items…

Material Visibility Start and End Dates on Rollover Inherit New Course Start and End Dates
Adding material visibility start and end dates for uploaded files requires clicking in and out of every citation on the list which has an uploaded file, and then clicking 4 or 5 times further to advance the calendar to the end of the semester for each citation's material visibility end date. This request is asking for the rollover process, both for instructor and course loader rollover, to include the option to assign new material visibility start and end dates to any citations on the list which have a material visibility date at the time of rollover, and the new course…

When adding citations to a list via search, prioritize latest edition and owned item first
Sometimes instructors perform a citation search in Leganto and just add the first result that comes up in the search results; often this is actually a book review or other format that isn't logical for reserves. Additionally, most instructors are searching and expecting the latest edition to appear first in the list. Other faculty from certain departments want to choose a particular edition, and so need edition information prominently surfaced in the search result.
This results in processing delays as staff must check with instructors to clarify what items they really intended to place on reserve.
One possible solution may…
114 votesWe are exploring options for this idea. The priority of the results is set by either Primo or Summon, so we cannot simply show the newest edition first unless the discovery ranking changes. However, we could potentially develop an option using the Questions feature in which the system could recognize that the instructor has added something which has other editions. The library could then configure a question for the instructor to understand if they want that edition, any edition, or the newest edition, for example. Would this help meet the need?

Lookup pricing and availability of books at online bookstores and display to patrons
Ability to lookup pricing and availability of books using online bookstores' REST APIs and display to students and instructors, with links, in the Additional Services section of the full citation display. So not just links that might not work using "general electronic service", but more like "Check Availability and Pricing" in Alma. Not just for Amazon, it needs to be possible for an institution to select their preferred partner(s) and configure their affiliate ID or other parameters in the API requests.

Reading list visibility/searchable in Google
Our institutions wonder if it is possible to make the reading lists visible in Google so that the students can get the reading lists if they search for the course code or a topic that is covered by the reading list.
I tried to look in the documentation, but could not find anything about this.
Is there a possibillity to make the lists visible/indexed by Google (e.g. by a sitemap or similar)?

Sections
We prefer the option to add sections or move citations to different sections within Alma. The assigned section is shown for each citation in the overview of the Readinglist (see attachment ‘Section Alma’) but it only possible to change a section by drag&drop in Leganto. This is less convenient for librarians when we create or change a list on behalf of an instructor (and work from Alma). For lists that have a lot of sections and citations, the moving of citations in Leganto is also not the most user-friendly way (and the most secure way – a citation is easily…

Changing a name on a reading list in Leganto can not be saved when Alma is open
When changing the title of a reading list in Leganto it is changed back after a short while. We have found a way around it with having Alma closed when updating the title in Leganto.
We would like to be able to change the name in Leganto without having to close Alma for it to be saved.

Automatically checking if a newer edition exists
When instructors create reading lists, they're often interested in the newest edition of a book, but may not be aware that a newer edition exist.
If they're library doesn't have it or (when searching in a broader scope) if no one in the consortium has catalogued it yet, they won't find it.
In any case, automatically checking if such an edition exist would be a nice feature.26 votes -
Save a selection of Citation menu option as the default view
When entering Citation view to process current course reserves, you must first always select from the List Assigned to menu "Assigned to me" and then apply various other filters to limit the view to what needs to be processed. It takes time to apply each filter each time the citations list is accessed; allowing some filters to be "sticky" or default according to processor preference would save time when processing citation requests.

Suppress tags from specified citation material types
We would like to be able to hide certain tags from specific material types, for example hide our 'Digitisation request' tag from citations which are already available electronically.

Retain citation status (Being Prepared / Complete) when copying or duplicating a list
When using the duplicate list or copy section functions, citations which have previously been marked as Complete will revert to Being Prepared. This creates unnecessary additional work for our staff who have to mark the citations as complete again.

View list citations in different referencing styles
Would it be possible to apply different bibliographic styles within the Leganto list view, as well as being able to apply these when exporting to Word format.

Academic Departments - add field for Faculty/School
Academic Departments within institutions often sit under Faculty or School groups. This is currently not represented in Alma or Leganto. Could we have a new (optional) field added for School/Faculty both to the Academic Department area and have it available in Analytics.
202 votesWe are considering adding a field to the course record in Alma, reportable in Analytics, for the faculty/school. It could be used for reporting purposes but not for discovery purposes. In other words, you would be able to pull list usage by faculty/school, but end users would not be able to browse by faculty/school. Would it still be helpful?

Display related title electronic / physical availability in Alma citation search
We rely on related records to enable all availability options to display where different formats have separate bib records (as a citation can only be resource located to one record at a time). It would be useful if a 'Related' availability tab could appear in Alma alongside Physical, Electronic, Digital and Other.

View course name when selecting list in Cite It
Currently you can only view the list name and course code. Instructors won't always be able to identify the correct list here, as they might not know the course code and their list might have a generic name ("Reading List") which does not offer any indication of the course.

Enable the user to focus on the relevant sections, based on the date
If the list is built by week, by default all sections relevant to the past will be collapsed. Only the current week's section and future sections will be expanded, by default.

Allow reading list status to be changed (in bulk) from Task List without having to assign first
Currently there is no way to bulk select lists in the reading list tasklist page and change their status (e.g. to "being processed" or additional local RL statuses) without inidvidually assigning them first. This is a great ineffeciency for the tasklist, as it would really help to 'group' a set of newly received lists as 'being processed' in a single go, rather than having to go into each and every single list first. The set functionality for lists is fine, but this is something which is crying out to be possible from the Reading list task list. Equivalent features exist…
