Improve Citations search (Alma workflows) e.g. include Journal title (and chapter title?)
Hi,
Staff find that the Citations search functionality in Alma/Course Reserves is not as effective as it could be for finding updates as the indexes which can be chosen do not cover sufficient citation metadata fields to allow for the most common searches to be supported.
Currently the search options are:
Citation ID
Course Code
Course Name
Creator
ISBN
ISSN
MMS ID
Reading List Name
Title
However it is frequently the case when looking to update/correct citations that a Journal title would need to be searched, and unfortunately Title does not cover this aspect of the citation metadata when the journal title is part of an Article material type (as compared to a simple title level entry for a journal).
Although ISSNs might be guessed at or Analytics reports on MMSid etc could be made, for staff working with the persistent search, the expectation is that a journal title could be searched for.
However the journal title metadata field is not indexed in the citation search, either under the general 'title' (which includes Article title), or separately. The same issue affects Book Chapter items where the Chapter Title is not indexed.
