  1. Enable Process and Enrich Citations to run as a scheduled job

This job needs to be run on a regular basis to ensure that all citations are linked to repository records, but this must currently be done manually by a member of library staff. It would be very useful if the job could be scheduled to run automatically.

  2. Customise Leganto Reading lists using CSS

We would like to be able to adjust a CSS stylesheet to tweak the visual styling of the the Leganto reading lists. We have received feedback regarding the sizing of some important elements on the pages, especially the View Online link. We would like to be able to make this link more obvious to users.

We do not plan to offer the option to customize the Leganto interface via CSS. While customization of the CSS seems like a good solution for those who want to change the interface, it can potentially cause significant compatibility issues moving forward. We invest much effort in advancing the user interface, and we don’t want to create a situation where changes to the Leganto interface break customizations on the customer end. If you have specific customization needs, please open a support ticket and we will address them via configurations or flags in the system.

  3. Enable reading list items to be added to a PO line.

It would be helpful if items on order could be assigned to a reading list from the PO line by acquisitions staff and the reading list module information be a part of the PO line information.

  4. Public Note formatting in "View full note"

If you expand a Public Note that has exceeded the space limit by clicking "Click to view full note" in citation brief view, the original text formatting isn't included. This makes longer public notes difficult to read, since it excludes line-breaks and paragraphs.

We believe it would improve the user experience if the original formatting, that is visible in full view, is transferred in brief view, View full note, as well.

  5. Identify more recent editions for reading list citations

Each year reading lists and citation are rolled over to the new academic year. During the years the library acquires more recent editions of course materials, however instructors are not by default being notified of these new editions. A kind of 'identify other editions' job/feature for active reading lists could be interesting.

Of course 'matching' criteria to identify possible new (more recent) editions need to be well defined, but we strongly believe we can benefit from this feature to maintain up to date reading lists in an efficient way!

  6. Improve customization and branding for Leganto

Currently, Leganto branding and customization settings do not work well together. In Branding, you can change the color of the header and separator bar, but the button that reveals the hamburger menu does not change color even if you put the correct color code in the field for the Leganto left panel color.

In Customization, you can change the color of the hamburger menu, but this overrides the color codes in the Branding menu for the header and separator bar. You can put a color code into Leganto color in Customization instead, but that changes the color for everything, including…

  7. Identify and combine related editions in Leganto

Problem: A lack of FRBRisation in bibliographic records in Alma means that in Leganto different formats of the same title can only be offered on individual citations, i.e. the print edition will be one
citation, and the eBook will be on another citation. We want to be able to offer all available formats of a title to our students.

Impact: Without the ability to combine citations of the print and electronic version of the same title, they currently appear as if they are two required readings (see attachment 1).

The lack of ability to combine multiple versions of the same…

  8. Enable translation of reading list texts

The Leganto UI supports multiple languages, which is very helpful. It is however not possible to translate individual texts of reading lists, such as their titles, into different languages.

    Please enable the following:

    1. A way to easily input in multiple (at least two) languages a) reading list titles, b) section names, c) citation public notes, d) section notes, and e) possibly other such reading list related texts that are not part of the bibliographic metadata.

    2. That the relevant translated text (as per above) be displayed depending on what language the user has selected for the UI in the Leganto language…

We will not provide the option to translate the text within the reading list. Adding translation for the fields in the list and citation adds a significant amount of complexity from a data perspective, and also complexity for list builders.

  9. Sub-divide sections within a reading list

As an instructor, I would like to be able to sub-divide sections within a reading list, e.g. Week 1 is a section, subdividing this into Mandatory, Optional, tutorial question, etc

we do not want Leganto to have more than one hierarchy because, we would like to keep an easy reading list material discovery (no hidden citations) and also, to have homogeneous view between all the lists (for better student’s UX)

  10. Allow instructors to add Library Search result to other reading lists or My Collection

User Story: As an instructor, I would like to have the option to add a citation to My Collection or other reading lists from the Search Library results in current reading list or My Collection (similar to adding an item from cite it), so that I don’t have to go in and out of My Collection/reading list to add a citation

The 2023 Leganto new user experience includes the option to add an item from the library search to my collection/favorites. It does not include the option to add the item to another list from the library search. Instead, items on the list can be added to other lists, an option which wasn’t available when this idea was originally created. We are closing this idea, but please create a new and updated idea if something is still needed.

  11. Reading Lists with status “New Citation Added to Completed List” displayed in task lists

We have added the custom reading list status called “New Citation Added to Completed List” in “Additional Reading List Statuses” in our configuration.

For the moment, we are only able to see reading lists with this status in Alma when viewing reading lists “Assigned to Me”.

It would be very useful and make working with reading lists easier if we could have a task in the task list displaying reading lists where this status is present.

  12. Ability to retrieve deleted list sections or individual citations

Ability to retrieve deleted list sections or deleted individual citations. When deleting individual list sections or individual citations from a list, could the deleted items be held in an area (e.g. "trash bin") so as to be retrievable if deleted in error. Could this functionality be available for both instructors and librarians.

  13. Move citations in bulk from a list to My Collection rather than only one by one

Moving citations one by one through the options menu is painful. Users should be able to move all citations in a list, or selected subsets of citations in a list to My Collection. The ability to select and copy all or select some and copy is a very common usability feature for list management.

This would really make My collection the easiest way to search and find previously used materials across course lists.

  14. Copyright Clearance option when uploading a file

when instructors upload a file in Leganto, (one) of the configured copyright statements is 'ticked' by default.

    (File Upload Copyright Options setup)

Is there a way to oblige' instructors to agree on/tick one of the statements before they're able to upload the file? So, this is not ticked by default?

  16. Add Leganto Question when exporting title from Primo

We were asked by multiple instructors why there is no Leganto Question when they push a title from Primo to their reading list via the export functionality.
As we are using this (amongst other things) to remind them to add tags to their citations, instructors really depend on this feature and don't understand why it's missing in Primo.

We as librarians also don't understand why the feature was not developed when 'Export to Leganto' was added to Primo's export actions last year.

If there is a connection between products (like Primo <> Leganto) all features should be available. Everything else…

    Hi,

    Thank you for being involved.

We are closing this idea as it would require an excessive amount of time to develop.

We would love to hear any other suggestions you may have for addressing the same issue.

    Best Regards,

    Miriam, Leganto product owner

  17. Make it easier to edit templates within Leganto

Once a template has been created it is not possible to update or edit it without saving it as a new template. It also means that other lists using the original template aren't updated and have to be updated manually. We would like the option to edit templates more easily and for any changes to be saved to all reading lists using that template.

Reading list templates can be edited in the new UI as of the November 2023 release. We cannot apply changes to reading lists that were previously created using the template because once the list is created it is not linked to the template. Instructors can edit the sections.

  18. Allow removal of LTI-added lists from My lists by users themselves

It would be useful for all categories of user - Instructor, Student and Librarian to have the facility to actively remove any list/s which have been added to their My lists page either by dint of being a course or list owner, OR simply by having follow the LTI link from a VLE/CMS/LMS course link.

Librarian staff have ended up stuck with lists because of this, but also because we wish normally to auto add instructor role and auto add instructor as owners, it would still be useful to allow all users to actively decide to control what they have…

  19. Citation can have several resources associated with it Add ability to have another hierarchy in the reading list

Citation can have several resources associated with it
Add ability to have another hierarchy in the reading list like folder with metadata information, that will aggregate several citation beneath it to allow different editions etc.

  20. Use Analytics to surface information on user activity in My Collection

We would like to use Analytics to see user activity in My Collection, for example how many times a title has been added to My Collection (but not necessarily added to a reading list).

We will not offer this; My Collection is private to the user. If the primary concern is about copyright, note that files uploaded to citations which have the Copyright Auditing Required checkbox enabled are only accessible through the list and within the dates specified in the copyright record. Files cannot be accessed from My Collection when the citation has an associated copyright record.
