Enable Process and Enrich Citations to run as a scheduled job
This job needs to be run on a regular basis to ensure that all citations are linked to repository records, but this must currently be done manually by a member of library staff. It would be very useful if the job could be scheduled to run automatically.

Overview of readings lists in a study program
Leganto gives the possibility to
- link to a specific course (and display the list(s) associated to this course)
- get an overview of all the reading lists belonging to a specific academic departments, through their course associationThe missing link in between is the association of a smaller number of courses, belonging to the same academic department or not:
the study program.Librarians and instructors could associate courses to a study program as easily as they can associate a list to a course.
Students could search for a program in the find list interface.
An overview of all the…156 votesAfter further researching and evaluating this idea we have determined that it requires significant changes to the data architecture of the system which makes it a very risky development. We have not been able to come up with a workaround to adequately implement the idea in another way and we are therefore closing the idea.

When adding citations to a list via search, prioritize latest edition and owned item first
Sometimes instructors perform a citation search in Leganto and just add the first result that comes up in the search results; often this is actually a book review or other format that isn't logical for reserves. Additionally, most instructors are searching and expecting the latest edition to appear first in the list. Other faculty from certain departments want to choose a particular edition, and so need edition information prominently surfaced in the search result.
This results in processing delays as staff must check with instructors to clarify what items they really intended to place on reserve.
One possible solution may…
115 votesWe are closing this idea. Leganto uses the same ranking as Primo or Summon, and we do not plan to develop an option to rank citations differently for Leganto purposes.

More detailed 'Recent Changes' tab
The number of changes recorded in the Recent Changes tab is limited. We'd like to see a complete log of changes in the reading list. For example, we'd like to see if a comment in the Library Discussion has been deleted (and in what citation). Also possibly if a citation has been located to a different MMSID. In Alma and Analytics we can see the Last Modification date and Modified By, but we do not know what the modification was unless it is recorded in Recent Changes.
97 votesWe will be completing a version of this idea as part of the CERV enhancement request. I'm closing this idea because the wording is not exactly the same as the CERV enhancement, but we will be adding additional tracked changes as agreed upon with the Leganto community. It will be available in mid 2025.

Customise Leganto Reading lists using CSS
We would like to be able to adjust a CSS stylesheet to tweak the visual styling of the the Leganto reading lists. We have received feedback regarding the sizing of some important elements on the pages, especially the View Online link. We would like to be able to make this link more obvious to users.
96 votesWe do not plan to offer the option to customize the Leganto interface via CSS. While customization of the CSS seems like a good solution for those who want to change the interface, it can potentially cause significant compatibility issues moving forward. We invest much effort in advancing the user interface, and we don’t want to create a situation where changes to the Leganto interface break customizations on the customer end. If you have specific customization needs, please open a support ticket and we will address them via configurations or flags in the system.

Enable reading list items to be added to a PO line.
It would be helpful if items on order could be assigned to a reading list from the PO line by acquisitions staff and the reading list module information be a part of the PO line information.

Suggest Replacement feature - keep book extract or chapter information
When using the Suggest Replacement feature for book extract or chapter citations, the data in the chapter and/or page range fields should be kept (rather than automatically deleted) if the suggestion is approved. When the suggestion is approved either from Leganto or Alma there should be an alert (like a pop-up box) to notify the user they may need to check the chapter/page range details on the suggested replacement.
Alternatively, the user could be presented with an option to decide whether the chapter/extract information is kept or overwritten.
66 votesBecause new editions may not have the same chapter or page range as the previous edition, a dedicated workflow would be needed to explain to the instructor what to do. After analyzing possible options we have determined that the complexity of a solution is beyond the functional benefit.

Hide start date and end date when creating a (new) section
In the June 2024 release, we were given the possibility to hide the due date from the quick edit view of a citation. For the same reason, we need to hide the “start date” and “end date” fields when creating a (new) section.
Once published, our citations must always be visible to all students. At our institution, Leganto Lists are mandatory for all our instructors because students should always have access to the lists, also to the ones that refer to previous academic years. If an instructor fills in the “start date” and “end date” fields, citations will no longer…65 votesSections are only hidden when the instructor fills in the start or end date and checks the box to hide the section within those dates. We believe this is sufficient that users are not accidentally hiding dates. Additionally, adding configurations to hide only start or end dates makes maintenance of the system increasingly complex. Therefore we will not do this development.

Public Note formatting in "View full note"
If you expand a Public Note that has exceeded the space limit by clicking "Click to view full note" in citation brief view, the original text formatting isn't included. This makes longer public notes difficult to read, since it excludes line-breaks and paragraphs.
We believe it would improve the user experience if the original formatting, that is visible in full view, is transferred in brief view, View full note, as well.
62 votesThe new UI shows the full note and all formatting options on the student view.

Leganto Link Marked As Broken Letter - include reporting user metadata
It would be helpful if the user who reported a broken citation link was included in the Leganto Link Marked As Broken Letter XML. That way, we could include it in the email staff receive. It would save time and effort, compared to looking this information up in the Alma alert.
56 votesWe have analyzed this request. Leganto only sends the letter when the first user marks the link as broken, therefore the library would need to check Alma to determine if additional users had marked the link as broken. We are closing this idea because we don't want to add potentially misleading information to the letter.

Identify more recent editions for reading list citations
Each year reading lists and citation are rolled over to the new academic year. During the years the library acquires more recent editions of course materials, however instructors are not by default being notified of these new editions. A kind of 'identify other editions' job/feature for active reading lists could be interesting.
Of course 'matching' criteria to identify possible new (more recent) editions need to be well defined, but we strongly believe we can benefit from this feature to maintain up to date reading lists in an efficient way!
54 votesThis development is not feasible due to the development complexity.
We are closing the idea so you will receive your votes back. -
View list citations in different referencing styles
Would it be possible to apply different bibliographic styles within the Leganto list view, as well as being able to apply these when exporting to Word format.
38 votesAfter evaluation, we have decided not to do this development. The main reason is that Leganto citations do not always cleanly map to specific citation formats, largely because we do not hold the author first and last name in separate fields. We do not want to have the list in improperly formatted citations which cannot be easily fixed by the instructor.

Improve customization and branding for Leganto
Currently, Leganto branding and customization settings do not work well together. In Branding, you can change the color of the header and separator bar, but the button that reveals the hamburger menu does not change color even if you put the correct color code in the field for the Leganto left panel color.
In Customization, you can change the color of the hamburger menu, but this overrides the color codes in the Branding menu for the header and separator bar. You can put a color code into Leganto color in Customization instead, but that changes the color for everything, including…
35 votesWe are closing this idea because the new UI has different branding options as of the November 2023 release. Please open a new idea for the new UI if needed.

Identify and combine related editions in Leganto
Problem: A lack of FRBRisation in bibliographic records in Alma means that in Leganto different formats of the same title can only be offered on individual citations, i.e. the print edition will be one
citation, and the eBook will be on another citation. We want to be able to offer all available formats of a title to our students.Impact: Without the ability to combine citations of the print and electronic version of the same title, they currently appear as if they are two required readings (see attachment 1).
The lack of ability to combine multiple versions of the same…

Enable translation of reading list texts
The Leganto UI supports multiple languages, which is very helpful. It is however not possible to translate individual texts of reading lists, such as their titles, into different languages.
Please enable the following:
A way to easily input in multiple (at least two) languages a) reading list titles, b) section names, c) citation public notes, d) section notes, and e) possibly other such reading list related texts that are not part of the bibliographic metadata.
That the relevant translated text (as per above) be displayed depending on what language the user has selected for the UI in the Leganto language…
32 votesWe will not provide the option to translate the text within the reading list. Adding translation for the fields in the list and citation adds a significant amount of complexity from a data perspective, and also complexity for list builders.

Vertically align the "view online" button in citations
Hello. We are migrating from Talis to Leganto.
In Talis, our students can see the "View Online" button clearly in the bookmarks. This button is always in the same place as they scroll through the list. See the first attached image. It makes for a consistent UX. Students primarily access their reading list content electronically (including articles, websites, scanned chapters) rather than finding a print copy on the shelves.
In Leganto however, the "View Online" button comes after the print holding locations in the citation. This means that as the user scrolls through the list, the "View Online" location in…
30 votesClosing because we believe the idea and all existing votes refer to the classic UI which is no longer in use. The placement of the View Online button is more consistent in the new UI.

Sub-divide sections within a reading list
As an instructor, I would like to be able to sub-divide sections within a reading list, e.g. Week 1 is a section, subdividing this into Mandatory, Optional, tutorial question, etc
27 voteswe do not want Leganto to have more than one hierarchy because, we would like to keep an easy reading list material discovery (no hidden citations) and also, to have homogeneous view between all the lists (for better student’s UX)

Automatically checking if a newer edition exists
When instructors create reading lists, they're often interested in the newest edition of a book, but may not be aware that a newer edition exist.
If they're library doesn't have it or (when searching in a broader scope) if no one in the consortium has catalogued it yet, they won't find it.
In any case, automatically checking if such an edition exist would be a nice feature.26 votesClosing because we don't currently have a means to check if a newer edition exists.

Allow instructors to add Library Search result to other reading lists or My Collection
User Story: As an instructor, I would like to have the option to add a citation to My Collection or other reading lists from the Search Library results in current reading list or My Collection (similar to adding an item from cite it), so that I don’t have to go in and out of My Collection/reading list to add a citation
23 votesThe 2023 Leganto new user experience includes the option to add an item from the library search to my collection/favorites. It does not include the option to add the item to another list from the library search. Instead, items on the list can be added to other lists, an option which wasn’t available when this idea was originally created. We are closing this idea, but please create a new and updated idea if something is still needed.

Reading Lists with status “New Citation Added to Completed List” displayed in task lists
We have added the custom reading list status called “New Citation Added to Completed List” in “Additional Reading List Statuses” in our configuration.
For the moment, we are only able to see reading lists with this status in Alma when viewing reading lists “Assigned to Me”.
It would be very useful and make working with reading lists easier if we could have a task in the task list displaying reading lists where this status is present.
