  1. Make the list and section sticky in CiteIt

This idea from an instructor - with agreement from other instructors in a focus group.

When preparing reading lists I tend to work on one list at a time often using CiteIt. It would be really time-saving if CiteIt could remember the list and section that I was just working on rather than force me to choose those options each time I add a new citation

  2. Choose which useful links teaching staff and students see

We have just spotted that it’s possible to set up useful links in Leganto, these appear in the top right menu, see screen shot attached.

We have created a user guide for teaching staff and would like to add this using this link, however we only want this to be visible to teaching staff and not to appear in student view. Similarly we would like to be able to give students specific links that appear only in student view.

  3. Message at login to users with unsupported Internet Explorer versions

Many websites, such as Facebook, Youtube and Gmail are no longer supporting old versions of Internet Explorer. Older versions of Internet Explorer(IE) have security problems which will never be fixed and using it will leave you vulnerable to all sorts of problems on the internet.

Suggestion: Users receive a message saying that their browser does not meet the minimum requirements for accessing Leganto upon trying to log in with an unsupported browser. They may still be able to log in, but will not be able to view/use Leganto effectively. This has been done for other systems, see for example the…

  4. Display book chapter title for book chapter citations in the Edit Reading List screen

When a citation has the material type of 'Book chapter' we would like the book chapter title to display for the citation in the Edit Reading List page. Currently we need to click Edit and scroll down to find this simple and necessary piece of information. It is also missing from the 'Citation details' tab of the citation. Often, we have multiple book chapter citations for the same book in the reading list. These citations appear identical in the current display so displaying the book chapter title as well as the book title will help distinguish these citations and improve…

  5. Ability to configure a list or citation status change if citation is edited or tagged after being set to Complete

After a citation is set to Complete, if the instructor makes further changes to the citation, e.g. editing the metadata or adding a tag, there is no indication to library staff that a change has been made and the citation may require further processing, such as moving the item to high demand. We would like the ability to configure Leganto to update the status of a citation or list if an item is edited after being Set Complete.

  6. Lock a section for editing

We would like to be able to lock a section in a reading list.

Some of our courses lasts two semesters, but they only use one reading list divided into sections for each semester. If a section could be locked we could be sure they only edit the section for the coming semester.

  7. Searching for citations within a list from Leganto

When searching within a Leganto list for a citation, all sections display even if they don't contain citations which match the search terms. This makes the results screen cluttered and difficult to scan, especially in lists that contain lots of sections. To identify whether any section contains a search result the user has to look for a section which contains a number other than 0. This is very unintuitive. We would expect after the search is conducted that only sections which contain search results would display and all other sections would be hidden.

  8. Cite It compatibility with JISC's Library Hub Discover (NBK)

Library Hub Discover (replacement of COPAC) is not currently compatible with Cite It.

Cite It only currently captures basic metadata from the site: citation type is always other, title is always Library Hub (rather than the title from the record) and no other details are picked up apart from the URL.

It would be of great benefit to UK users if Library Hub Discover could be made compatible with Cite It.

  9. Recalculate course reserves automatic status if a tag is added to citation

The Course Reserves Automatic Statuses mapping table allows us to automatically assign the status of ‘Complete’ to physical citations (parameter key citation_physical). However, our digitisation workflow requires that a tag called ‘Digitisation request’ is added to the physical citation, in which case, the status of ‘Complete’ is no longer correct. When a specified tag is added to a citation (as configured by the library, e.g. 'Digitisation request') can the status be recalculated automatically and a different status (configured by the library, e.g. 'Digitisation requested') be assigned?

  10. Display availability of citations when direct linking is enabled

When direct linking is enabled, Leganto displays a "View Online" link for every citation regardless of whether or not it is actually available online. Availability is only calculated after the user clicks "View Online." If the item is not available, they are redirected to a blank screen with the message: "No full text available". This is an unnecessarily confusing and frustrating user experience and different from how direct linking works in Primo, where "View Online" only appears when full text is available. This enhancement would allow availability to be calculated when the reading list is loaded to avoid confusion and…

  11. Automatically close "Edit menu" after clicking "Set complete"

When clicking "Set complete" while editing a resource in brief view, the edit menu does not automatically close itself as it does with most other options. This generates an extra click in order to get to the next item on the list. Could the edit menu be automatically closes when clicking "Set complete"?

  13. Include jobs in Recent changes tab

Changes showns in the recent changes tab match notification types and are listed here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Leganto/Product_Documentation/Leganto_Online_Help_(English)/Leganto_Administration_Guide/Configuring_Leganto_UI_Elements/Configuring_Notifications

"List status changed to publish" is one of them, however it doesn't apply when the list was published by running a job.
Ex: Rollover job, the field "On rollover visibility of old reading list" stayed blank.

Recent changes should include all the changes listed, regardless of what triggered the change.

  14. Language as part of citation

We would like that the language of the document to be part of the citations. In a non-english speaking country as Norway there are political interest to see how much of the reading are in Norwegian and how much that are in other languages.

Language is a part of the records in Alma, and also for the records that are fetched from Primo, so it should be possible populate automatically a vast majority of the (new) records added to a list if there is a field for language.

It must also be possible to generate reports in analytics based on…

  15. purchase request workflow made leaner

When a purchase request created via Leganto, is 'approved and ordered', this generates a PO number, which although appears as a link, doesn't then let you edit the purchase order after clicking on that link. You have to instead copy and paste the PO number into the search box and go from there to edit it further.

Please can you make this process leaner by allowing users to edit the PO through the link in the [popup message that appears, after approve and order is selected. Please see attached document for details of the workflow.

When reviewing a PO line in view mode, an Edit option is now available. The visibility of the edit button depends on PO line status, PO line assignment. Additionally, the user must have a Purchasing Manager or Purchasing Operator role.
The list of PO line statuses that allow editing are:
    In Review
    Deferred
Waiting for renewal (Manual or Auto)
Waiting for Packaging (Manual or auto)
    Ready
    Sent
    Waiting For Invoice

For more information please see Alma August Release Notes:
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/2020/Alma_2020_Release_Notes

  16. Retain the original 'request for review' date

Due to administrative deadlines etc we are interested in knowing when the list was first sent for review to the library. As of now we are experiencing that this date is updated when/if a course instructor submits the reading list again, which means we lose the original date.

Our suggestion is that the original date is retained in a separate field.

  17. Allow ability to enable Library Discussion at citation level only and deactivate at list level

We would like the ability to be able to choose whether Library Discussion is activated at list level, citation level, or both.

The scenario for this is that we currently use library discussion at the citation level for academics to request titles to be transferred to our High Demand collection, but have found that some are using the discussion at list level for other enquiries. Discussions added at list level do not generate a notification and can be missed by library staff, unless they go into the reading list in Alma and check for notes. Ideally we would like the…

  18. Automatically updating new edition citations on all lists the old editions appear on

In instances where a book appears on several reading lists, would it be possible for Leganto to update all the lists if a citation is edited on one list (e.g. if a citation is edited to direct to a new edition)? At present, whenever there is a new edition of a textbook published, we will order the newer version and update the ISBN on the citation to the new edition, running the resource locate function upon saving the change so the citation points to the Alma record of the latest edition and updates the bibliographical information with data from the…

  19. Display Public Note Field on Compact View

Our lists are set as compact citation view by default because it's so much easier for users to take in the important information. But Public Notes on citations do not display in the compact view, making them effectively useless since many students will never see the public note if they click "view online" or "download" directly from the compact view of citations to access the content without ever going to citation details page. Please set Public Notes on citations to display in the compact list view.

  20. Add Course year/course terms as a filter/display element into Find lists and My lists

As instructors, Learning technologists and library staff own, collaborate or work on many lists for many courses over time, it would be useful - as is found in many VLE/CMS/LMS systems, to have course reading lists which are able to be filtered by Year AND or term information where this is available.

For the greatest flexibility it would be useful to allow visual grouping AND discovery options of lists by Course year or Course Term with configuration available as to:-
    i) whether to display course year groupings AND/OR Course Term in My Lists
ii) whether to display course year groupings…
