  1. Include text of Library Discussion Note in Leganto Detailed Notifications Letter

Could the actual text of the Library Discussion Note be included for Instructors when they receive a Notification that there is an outstanding Library Discussion via the Leganto Detailed Notifications Letter.

Currently, the Letter only tells the Instructor that there is a Library Discussion waiting for them. They then need to log-in to Leganto to see what it is. Providing the text would enable the Instructor to determine whether they need to log-in to Leganto and action something in the list or not, and would bring the letter in line with other email notifications e.g. service desk messages, where they…

  2. List/Course status = No list by choice

There are many courses that, for a variety of reasons, intentionally do not have reading lists. The fact that this is deliberate is not immediately obvious though, and confusion can arise when people expect there to be a list connected to the course.

Students might wonder if they are doing something wrong, librarians might have to keep separate spreadsheets to note which ones are supposed to be empty and instructors might be confused when asked to make lists in their LMS.

For these courses, there should be some way to identify that the absence of any lists is by design…

  5. Add Unpaywall full text availability in Leganto

We have enabled links to Unpaywall in Primo VE with the "enableopenaccessservicesfromunpaywallapi" setting in Config->Fulfillment->General->Other Settings. However, these links don't appear in Leganto, only Primo. I opened a case with Support [#00984855] and they confirm that this is the expected behaviour: the Unpaywall Open Access API service is presently only available through Primo.

Our Leganto users would benefit from having Ex Libris add Unpaywall full text availability to Leganto, so that they could easily see these resources are available. Some Leganto users would see the "Full text not available" and not use the resource…

  6. Stop adding reading lists automatically when looking at them

At the moment, when students look at a reading list in an LMS it's automatically added to their "My Lists" area in Leganto.

According to Ex Libris this is by design but they are open to change this depending on how popular this idea turns out to be.
    (see Case 973700)

We don't think that just a short glance at a syllabus justifies a list being added - most likey unbeknownst to the students themselves.
And if they want to add a list, it's only one click on the Add button.

We don't want the feature to be abolished, but…

  7. Create brand new courses during rollover

When we import course data into Alma, we use a program that extracts all the courses from our course database and produces a ready-to-use import file for any given institution. The course ID in this file is typically something like COURSE-AUTUMN-2021 (Course code, semester and year).

We use the same file if we want to run a rollover, with some manual changes to it. We don't check if the courses we extracted are new, or if there is an existing course in Alma for the year before. Our starting point is the COURSE-ID column, and in OLD-COURSE-ID we write the…

  8. Filter "My lists" by course

Some instructors have many lists. It would be useful if they could filter based on year and semester in addition to the existing sorting options.

  9. Predefined searches to Find lists

It is possible to create simple search-links to Leganto that gives you a list of reading lists that matches the query, e.g.:
    https://bibsys-xc.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/leganto/readinglist/searchlists?search=MGUEN101&auth=SAML

We would like the possibility to use other and more specified fields the same way and build up an advanced search URL.

Practical use-case: In the February 2021 release of Leganto new search fields were added to the advanced search for Term and Year. It would be useful to create a link that searches for reading lists for a specific year/term.

  10. HTML in list notes and list and sections' description fields

In some cases, an instructor needs to provide extra information to their student by referring to an external website.
Use case: "All the citations in this section cannot be booked through the library but can be found in the compendium. More information <a>here</a>."

It would be very useful to use HTML in the list notes, or in the description field of the list or sections. Both so instructors can use links, but also to make the information more visible if it comes after a long list of citations (in the case of a list note).

  11. Service Temporarily Unavailable Message from Primo to appear in Leganto

In Alma, you can configure a "Service Temporarily Unavailable" message via the service labels. This can then be applied to electronic collections in Alma, and displays when viewed in Primo.

As this functionality already exists in Alma/Primo, I feel it should be extended to appear in Leganto as well, otherwise Users are not getting information about services being unavailable.

  12. Option to rename/customise the Rialto 'Add Items' search scope

We have recently turned on the option for instructors to 'add items' using Rialto but this terminology is confusing for them.

We would like the option to customise this heading e.g. 'Search our book supplier' or 'Rialto (Library book supplier)'
This should encourage use and facilitate training.

We would much prefer instructors use Rialto rather than Cite It to harvest from publisher websites. Cite It often misses key bib information and/or brings in erroneous e-links.

  14. Add information about who published the list to Course Reserves SA in Analytics

Information about the person who published the list should be added to Course Reserves Subject Area in Analytics. We need this solution for better reporting and list management.

Right now, information about the person who published the reading list is poorly accessible. It can be found under Recent Changes in the Reading List in Alma, but it can disappear if the log is too long. We would like it to be clearly visible on the Reading List level (registered as a separate idea https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/395697-leganto/suggestions/43545540-who-published-the-list-should-be-displayed-in-read) and available in Analytics.

  15. Who published the list should be displayed in Reading List Information in Alma

Information about the person who published the reading list is poorly accessible. It can be found under Recent Changes in the Reading List in Alma, but it can disappear if the log is too long. We would like it to be clearly visible on the Reading List level and placed next to the Review Requester field.

We need this solution for better reporting and list management. We believe that this should be an easy fix, as all of the information is already available in the system.

  16. Rejected Purchase Request - not detaching brief BIB in Alma Course Reserves

If we place a Purchase Request through Alma Course Reserves - the system generates a brief BIB with MMS ID against the citation. But if the Purchase Request is Rejected, the brief BIB is deleted from Alma (proper) but not from Alma Course Reserves and the citation remains resource located against the brief BIB that will not be fulfilled.

Currently, we are manually detaching these citations but do think that if the brief BIB is deleting in Alma proper it should be reflecting in Alma Course Reserve.

Can the brief BIB be removed from the citation in Alma Course Reserves…

  17. allow course archiving as well as reading list

The title says it all. Alma allows you to archive reading lists, which is useful--this leaves them as reportable in Analytics but removes them from Alma -- however strangely this function does not exist for at the course level, including the course that contains any archived reading lists. Since we get new course records every semester, this leaves a lot of expired courses that our reserves staff have to wade through, and makes this archiving feature note very useful for the course management workflow. If you deleted courses, any reading lists that had been archived would disappear from Analytics.

    I…

  18. Support http protocol in reading list and section description fields

At the moment URLs in the description fields of reading lists and sections are handled as plain text whereas URLs in public notes are automatically recognized as links and behave as such.
We'd like to see this functionality for all text fields in the Leganto UI. URLs should always be clickable links.

  19. Bulk updating of citations across reading lists

    Situation
One of our tasks in checking reading lists is ensuring that the version of each title is the latest edition. Acquisitions staff will check book citations on a reading list and, if there is a newer edition available, purchase and replace the citation on the list with this new version.

    Problem
When a specific title is used on multiple lists, Acquisitions staff are having to manually identify all citations using this title, add the newer edition to the reading list, and remove the older edition from the reading list.

Staff are also having to manually transfer any specific reading/public/resource…

  20. Allow bulk update to material type of citations

When adding citations that are ebooks, it is common that the material type is not correctly populated as 'ebook'. The material type often presents as an empty field or as a 'book'

Statistically our institution is tracking analytics to monitor how many citations are print books vs ebooks. In order to perform this reporting accurately, the material type of these ebook citations needs to be updated.

There are additional situations where material types could be consolidated (For example citations can come through as 'Video','Streaming','Streaming Video') and we would like to consolidate these into a single Video material type.

    Currently this…
