Associate new reading list from inside course with that course
When a reading list is created from inside a course, it would help the instructor if the list would then automatically be associated with that course. Or at least be very easy to associate it with the course that the instructor is currently in.
At this moment, the instructor is inside a course in Leganto. Adds a new reading list. Has to associate that reading list to a course all over again, while the instructor is already there.
This is confusing for instructors.
This is resolved in the 2023 Leganto new user experience. When instructors begin in the LMS and create a new or additional list in Leganto, the list will be automatically associated with the course.

Hello Miriam,
If the instructor creates a list inside a course, the expected behavior is that it is automatically associated with that course.
If the instructor creates a list inside a course, but wants to associate it with a different course, the expected behavior is that the instructor then has to associate it with that different course manually. What are your thoughts on this?
Kind regards

Hi Heidi,
Now I see what you mean. thanks.
My question is if instructor arrives from course and creates lists for different courses, what is the expected behavior?Kind regards,

Hello Miriam,
Yes, the very first time the instructor accesses Leganto from a course, they see the welcome wizard that you attached. This works fine. The reading list is created inside the course.
After creating the first reading list, however, when the instructor returns to the course and wants to add a second reading list to it, the instructor has to use the "associate course" button.
In attachment "newreadinglist.png" you see that there is already one reading list inside this course. When clicking the button to add a new reading list, attachment "newreadinglist_create.png" is seen on the screen. From the instructor point of view, they are adding the reading list underneath the course that they are in. Here, however, the instructor has to associate the list again with the course. This is confusing for the instructor.
Kind regards

Hi Heidi,
Thank you for the information.
When the instructor access Leganto, doesn't he see the welcome wizard where he click to create list (see attached) ? Or does he see My Lists page where he create list inside Leganto? Many thanks,

Hello Miriam,
Thank you for your message.
We use Leganto in Canvas. Our instructors will always first navigate to a course in Canvas. In the course, they will create a reading list, hence open Leganto in Canvas.
In Leganto, the instructor will create a reading list inside that course. When the reading list is created from that course, however, the reading list is not automatically linked to that course. The instructor has to link it manually by looking up the course. This is confusing for our instructors, because they created the reading list inside that course.
Does that make it more clear?
Kind regards

Hi,
Could you please explain this flow with more details?
Thanks,

I have not heard anything about this suggestion yet.

This is an important Instructor workflow issue, especially with increasing devolution, course changes, and less face-to-face training opportunitie; if it creates frustration it can reduce engagement with the service. Has this suggestion been considered?
