Show/hide option for resource recommender in NDE
In NDE the user is able to close the resource recommendations section.
While this is helpful for users who want to get it out of the way, if they change their mind and want to see the recommendations for subsequent searches in the same session, there is no way to re-open it.
They have to wait for a new session, or start in a new browser. Even signing out and back in again does not re-enable the recommendations.
This suggestion is that instead of X for close - there should be hide/show function.
We rely on the resource recommender for showcasing research databases for relevant searches, and for messages about how students can access their reading lists in Leganto when they search for course codes.
With regular exposure to these recommendations, users come to rely on the recommendations being accessible for subsequent searches.
Mock up attached.
Hi All,
Thanks for the feedback!
We will add the option to hide/collapse the entire section instead of closing it.
Also - we will check the option to allow dismissing specific resources and not the entire section.
This will be done during 2026 - H1.
Best regards,
Yael.

We are just coming to grips with a possible use case (Cultural advice notice) where we might want a user to have the option to close a banner recommendation and have it stay closed for the session. But have our databases and others keep appearing in subsequent searches. Would banner recommendations behave differently in regard to dismissals, than the other types of resource recommendations?
Banners are more obvious, and more likely that users would want to get rid of them for a whole session.

Strongly agree that this implementation is not good as is! Ideally I'd like to let users dismiss specific resources recommended during the session, but if a new resource recommendation is triggered (i.e. a recommendation for a different resource) I would still want that one to show up. The way I can imagine this is by letting them dismiss specific resources instead of the whole section.

In my case I was advised this is being considered for the roadmap, but to post it to the idea exchange. Your votes/comments may help with prioritisation.
