Add 'Search in full text' toggle parameter to the URL so that it is retained
Ex Libris introduced a new 'Search in full text' toggle in the Primo May 2022 Release, with the option for a site to set a default while also empowering users with the autonomy to change the setting to meet their needs.
This was an excellent range of configuration options for both sites and users, but unfortunately there is a significant flaw.
If a user does choose to change this setting from the default, and then uses other Primo features such as sharing the search with colleagues by QR Code link, or saving the search for their own re-use by setting…172 votesThis was done in February 2023 release.

"Give Us Feedback" tool / "Report a problem": separate e-mail addresses
We have been waiting for this enhancement for a long time:
Give Us Feedback Tool (NERS "Report a problem for records in Primo") / Primo May 2022 release:
https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/Primo/2022/001Primo_2022_Release_NotesSince full-text links in Primo are displayed in different places and come from different sources (Alma "View it" section, CDI - "Link in record", Primo Link section), the "Report a Broken Link" option is of course difficult to implement. The "Report a Broken Link" feature as it was available in SFX (an option directly at each full-text link) would of course be more intuitive for the users, but unfortunately it is…
24 votesThis is to update that in November we've added the option to set different email address per category.

Yael.

Make persistent search history a user customizable option
Would like to have this option be at the user level instead of the system level: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Knowledge_Articles/How_to_disable_the_option_to_save_authenticated_user's_search_history
I realize users can delete individual searches at anytime, but if they don't want any searches saved there is no way for them to do this. Since this can't be controlled at the individual user level, for privacy concerns we have to disable it at the system level and therefore users who might not have privacy concerns do not get to benefit from the feature.

Limit autocomplete-suggestions from PCI/CDI to activated sources
In Primo you can activate autocomplete to get suggestions for search-queries based on what the end-user begins to type in the search-box.
We have tested the functionality and see that it could be useful for the end user to get these suggestions. However we see that the suggestions from the central index in some cases are a little strange and that you get suggestions from the entire index and not only the sources the institution has activated. This means that the end-user could get suggestions that gives 0 results.
If you get a suggestion that leads to nothing you will…

Warn user to sign in when saving to favorites
Primo (new UI) does not alert the user to sign in in order to save favorites. I suggest that when a user who has not logged in clicks the pushpin icon to save an item to Favorites, a modal appear to let them know they must sign in to save favorites, and give them an opportunity to do so.

This was done and released in November 2022 release.

Add "Back to results list" when a document has several editions
We would like to propose an improvement to the search results for end-users in Primo. Our suggestion is to have an easier way to get back to the search results list if a document has several editions.
Currently, if a user opens a document that has several editions/versions, they have to reset their active search filters (“List of editions/versions”) in order to go back their original search results list. Our suggestion is to have a button that says “Back to results list” instead. In addition, we propose that when returning to the results list, the user returns to the same…
227 votesThank you for this idea. Navigation has been improved on the List of Versions page by adding a Back to Results Lists link . This is available in VE July 2021 release and in Primo August 2021 .

Collection Discovery: search in all sub-collections
We would like to allow the user to use the Collection Discovery interface also for discovery. Currently, it is only possible to search at the collection level. It is important to enabling a search across all levels of all collections as the user cannot know in which collection/sub-collections to search for needed items.
Following are a couple of user stories:
* We have various collections of photos. We would like to allow the user to search across the various collections and sub-collections for the pictures of the Knossos temple. We have relevant photos in two different sub-collections.
* We would…68 votesWe are not providing users option to search across All Collections from the Collection Lobby and also users are being prompt to expand search to all collections from a specific Collection page.

Summary Holdings Display>Primo VE
Summary Holdings Display>Primo VE
We would like our summary holdings to display one "click/screen" earlier than they do now.For example,
Users first have to click on the little arrow on the right of a holdings location before viewing the summary holdings statement.
We would like the summary holdings to display as a third line under the initial location data.
How it displays now:

Available, Bound Journals Section 3rd Floor ; HF5601 .N53How we want it to display

Export search results to Excel (or delimited file)
When a user gets several hundred search results, they would like to be able to download a list of the entire search results. This is a feature that faculty routinely use. They may then have a faculty assistant check out some of the books.
There is no way in Primo to capture an entire set of search results and do anything with it, such as export.
The ability to export a set of search results was a feature in the Aleph OPAC. There is no feature parity in Primo. Users have already noted the lack of this feature.

Separate the Audiovisual facet for Primo Central Index (PCI) into video and audio
Users doing targeted searches incorporating facets to find specific types of resources on specific topics want to be able to do just that - target. Our users tell us that their searches are made more difficult by having to sift through a long list of irrelevant format results, including Video when they just want Audio, and Audio when they want only Video. This is even more frustrating for users when they can see by the display type that the list could so easily have been made shorter.
Remote PCI resources under the Resource Type of facets:rsrctype of media and Prefilter…

My Favorites: while pinning item, allow user to choose label
When a user pins an item to My Favorites from the search results or detail view, the item goes to My Favorites without a label. Users would like to choose the label at the time they pin it.
Otherwise, they have to pin things, then go into My Favorites and go through all the things they just pinned a second time. By this time the user may not recall the specific reason they pinned it. We would like My Favorites to work similar to Pinterest and other similar tools, where the user can assign a tag/label as they are pinning,…
22 votesThank you for this suggestion. With the Primo & Primo VE November 2019 release , signed in user can add & label bulk of items to My Favorites.

Include the 776 field in ISBN matching when deduping books
Deduping of books would be improved if the deduping algorithm included the 776 field in ISBN matching. Currently, the algorithm only checks the 020 field for ISBN. In many cases, an electronic version of a book has the print ISBN in the 776 field, which would allow for a match of the electronic 776 to the print 020. The February VE release included an improvement that allowed the 776 field to be used when matching journal ISSNs, but it is still not being used when matching book ISBNs.

The option to search the contents of My Collection/My Favorites
Feedback from postgraduate Primo user:
"I tend to save anything that looks interesting to My Collection, but now there is a lot there. I have arranged into folders, but still it would be useful to be able to search through the collection, rather than having to search the whole library."195 votesHi,
This is to update that this feature was released as part of February 2023 release for Primo / Primo VE.

'pin' \ save to eshelf all items of a specific search
Add the ability to 'pin' all results of a specific search, without having to manually select them.
The classic UI has the option to save all items in a specific page to eshelf, this is missing from the NUI and it also doesn't offer a full solution. Users asked for the ability to add all results of a certain search to their eshelf with one click.

warning message when unpinning a record from the favorites page
It would be very useful if upon clicking on the unpin icon in the favorites screen, Primo will display a warning message stating that the user is about to delete the marked record/s.
Currently, clicking willingly or inadvertently on the unpin icon will immediately and irreversibly delete the record/s.116 votesThank you for posting this idea. It is now available with Primo & Primo VE February 2021 release with more improvements were made to the My Favorites.

The "my account" feature in Primo shows other institutions even if no holdings are checked out--these are schools whose holdings have been viewed by the user only. We'd like to ONLY display other schools in this area unless the user has items requested or checked out.

Change the "Guest" button to a "Sign In" button.
The new Primo interface has a "Guest" label/button which you have to click to get to a "Sign In" button. This is ridiculous. This confuses a "who you are" label with a login button. There is nothing intuitive about this. Users have to click twice to login.
90 votesThis was completed by redesigning the user area in Primo new interface.

Make hyphenated compound searchable as closed compound
Hyphenated compounds are indexed for search as open compounds in Primo when "remove hyphens" option is enabled.
In German language it is also very common to concatenate them as closed compounds, thus creating a single word without spaces or hyphens. This variant should be indexed for search as well.
Example:
"Passagen-Werk" (hyphenated compound)
• at the moment also finds "Passagen Werk" (open compound) when "remove hyphens" option is enabled
• at the moment does not find "Passagenwerk" (closed compound) but should be able to find this!!85 votesThank you for this idea. We have improved the search with hyphens for Supported hyphenated terms.. it is released with Primo May 2021 release and Primo VE July release.

Journals A-Z: Subject-indexing or discipline-indexing of titles
Librarians and faculty members alike would like the ability to search the Journals A-Z list by subject or discipline. This is available in SFX's A-Z/Journal Title Finder functionality, and would be highly useful in Primo as well. User Services and Teaching/IL Librarians would use it to create Subject Guides and other instructional materials, while Collections Librarians would use it to help in acquisitions decision-making. Faculty members would like to refer students to quick lists of discipline-specific resources, as well as use such lists for their own current awareness and professional development.
