Primo VE: add peer-reviwed and open access facet values to local records
In Primo VE you can add an OpenAccess indicator to the records, but it should also be possible to add a value (bases on normalization routines) that includes these records into the OA facet value in the top-level facets, so they are included when using this filter. This option should apply to both Alma records and external data records.
The same normalization option should be available for the Peer-reviewed indicator and facet value
142 votesThank you for this suggestion. you can define Peer Reviewed and Open Access facet in local catalog more details can be found in Primo VE August and June release notes

Improve new sort in collection discovery
As of Nov 2019, we can sort a collection in collection discovery by "relevance" which seems to be arbitrarily applied and title.
- There should be the same sort options (as the main Primo results):
- Date (newest)
- Date (oldest)
Author
Institutions should be able to apply a default of choice
Institutions should be able to remove a sort option
22 votesThank you for this suggestion. you can find now with Primo August release notes and Primo VE July release notes more details on the new sort options with also an option to set per collection the default sort.

Provide option in Primo VE customization to use Alma's preferred name fields in My Library Card
The My Library Card display in Primo VE should have a configuration option to use the preferred names fields in Alma user accounts, if those fields are populated, instead of only being configured to use the first/last name fields. This will be helpful for institutions that use SIS loads to populate user data and the patrons have included preferred name data in addition to legal name data.
45 votesThank you for this idea, This is now available in Primo BE – the user’s dispaly name is aligned with the way ALMA displays the user name, considering also the user’s preferred name fields.

Ex Libris should allow customers to call or have an online chat with their support team
We are disappointed with the technical support service provided by Ex Libris. We strongly believe that Ex Libris should provide customers with more effective, prompt and interactive service.
There should be an option to call or chat online in real time with a support person who has a sound understanding of the product in question. This would be in line with all system vendors we have previously dealt with.
We appreciate that there will be some issues that are designated as bugs or enhancements and will require more in depth investigation. However, a direct call/chat option with a properly trained…
347 votesEx Libris will start the phased rollout of online chat support for Primo VE in November 2020. Updates to the community will follow as we progress with the rollout.

Option to allow patrons to opt-in/ opt-out of sms from Primo VE my account tab.
Currently there is no option to enable the sms opt-in option from PRIMO VE. This will allow patrons to enable/disable sms notification if they wish to from My Personal Details on PRIMO VE.
21 votesHi,
This is to update that this functionality is now supported in Primo VE from February 2024 release.
Best regards,
Yael.

Primo VE: allow translations in OTB Display Fields
We 'd like the possibility to use translations in OTB Display fields, not only in local fields.
Use case: we want to use a code for contributors & creators ($4), rather than tag Relator term ($e) and use the translation functionality to display this role in the language of the interface.1 voteThank you for this suggestion. Primo VE now allows you to translate metadata in all or specific subfields from the Creator and Contributor display fields.

Allow HTML in Collection Discovery description field
It would be useful to allow HTML in the description field of an Alma Collection record. It would allow some formatting and links out to other pages. Currently any HTML displays as text.
47 votesHi,
This is now supported on February 2024 release.
Best regards,
Yael.

Resource Recommender customizable for each view
PrimoVE views serve different audiences. If the Resource Recommender were customizable for each view the user experience will be improved.
42 votesThank you for posting this idea. Primo VE now provides you the flexibility to define resource recommendations for specific views

location displayed for resources sharing
Do not display the resource sharing link for item that do not circulate. This is super confusing for our students. The request link does not display in the other scopes, but cannot seem to be turned off for resources sharing. Our students are requesting items from our sister college that do not circulate.
6 votesThank you for posting this idea. Please refer to Primo VE release note – January 2021 for more details on Central Definition for Hiding Resource Sharing Button – Based on Institutions Location List

Primo VE: Need for new ‘Discovery Manager’ roles
Create Discovery Manager roles and give customers the possibility to assign Discovery roles to colleagues who are in charge of specific content updates in the front end (notably Tag management, Resource Recommender management, Primo Central Index activations/deactivations) and who are not necessarily Primo administrators. For more flexibility and granularity, different roles (or parameters to add?) should be created. For example, a staff user in charge of Resource Recommender management should not necessarily have access to PCI activations.
Subject and reference librarians could directly work in Alma in order to keep recommended resources, tags and PCI collections updated; tasks where traditional…
184 votesThank you for posting this idea. with the new Primo VE August 2021 release , we have added two new Discovery roles – View Management Role and Discovery Operator Limited – to cover the needs raised in this idea. More details can be found in the Release notes

Collapse Advanced Search
When using advanced search it would be ideal to collapse the search box header area so users can see the results right away without scrolling. Most user's screen resolutions are small and they aren't aware if the search was executed without having to scroll down the page. By collapsing the advance search area after the search is executed then the users be able to see the results.
23 votesThank you for this idea. The search results now are more visible to users in the Advanced Search, especially for tablets and small laptops. Primo and Primo VE automatically collapses the Advanced Search form, triggered by a search or a click on hypertext link, allowing the users to view the search results and the search summary line. If needed, users can expand the Search Criteria form.

Ability to select/set preferred record criteria for dedupe/FRBR in Primo VE
We have instances where records for print materials in our holdings are combined with records for e-resources, to display a single record with multiple access points in our catalog. That is good and expected. However, often the source record is an e-resource record rather than the record for our physical holding, and we would prefer that the record for our physical resource be used so that important local notes are sure to be displayed. When the record for an e-resource is used instead, our local notes are not displayed, and that is a big problem.

Utilize LDR and MARC fixed fields (006,007,008) in Primo VE resource type configuration
Currently it's not possible to utilize LDR and MARC fixed fields (006,007,008) in Primo VE resource type configuration. It would be helpful, if regular expressions could be used to utilize these fields. That way facets could be created for DVDs, Blu-Ray discs and streaming video etc. without workarounds, using standard cataloging.
There is a similar idea already posted for Advanced Search, but we were advised by Ex Libris to list this separately.
104 votesThis functionality is now available in Primo VE April 2019 release.

Display more than 10 locations in PRIMO VE
We are using bch scheme and when a bibliographic record has more than 10 locations, PRIMO only shows 10, even though the results are limited to one library.
For example, there are one item in our Medical Library, but it doesn't show. https://granatensis.ugr.es/discovery/fulldisplay?docid=alma991014023258604990&context=L&vid=34CBUA_UGR:VU1&search_scope=MyInstitution&tab=Granada&lang=es16 votesThank you for posting this idea. This feature is released in Primo VE as part of September 2019 release.

Display of consortium e-resource coverage
Consortium partner library's e-resource coverage and public notes should be displayed in Primo VE.
When searching Primo VE in consortium environment with Search Profile "DiscoveryNetwork", coverage of e-resource licensed by the consortium partner library (not by the consortium) is not displayed. Only bib record (in NZ) is displayed.
Currently, no information about e-resource holdings of consortium partner library is displayed and users will not be able to notice that the partner library subscribed to this e-journal. If they noticed, they could access to this e-journal as walk-in users visiting the partner library or request copies of articles through Interlibrary Loan.

Local fields for all MARC tags
Currently local Primo VE fields can only be created for a small set of MARC fields (009, 09X, 490, 5XX, 69X, and 9XX). I don't see a reason for this limitation. I want to be able to use ALL MARC tags for local fields.
15 votesThank you for posting this idea. This feature is now available in primo VE for MARC21 format (June 2019) and UNIMARC format (August 2019).

Supressing inactive portfolios and inactive collections from the discovery layer.
It would less confusing to our patrons if we could suppress the display of inactive portfolios/collections or remove them entirely from our catalog. Patrons see them and wonder why they aren't available, since they still see the record in Primo. Also there are electronic CZ records that creep into our catalog and link, but we are not subscribed so the link is dead. It would greatly help us out if we could remove or suppress them. Thank you.
1 voteThank you for raising this idea. This is now part of Primo VE January 2020 release where we highlighted “Improved Handling of Suppressed Records”

My Library Card: Display BLock Expiry Date
It would be very beneficial for library patrons to be able to view their Block Expiry Date in the "Block + Message" section of My Library Card.
Currently, only "Block Description" is displayed. If the Block Expiry Date is displayed, library patrons do not need to ask the library staff. It will be a nice feature for library staff as well since the number of inquiries will decrease.
12 votesDisplay of Block Expiry Date is available in Primo VE from March 2019. For more information see: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/002Primo_VE/0972019/002Primo_VE_2019_Release_Notes

Primo VE Browse databases by category
We would like to be able to have the option to group the browse into more than 1 list for example a Subjects list and a Resource type list to avoid one huge list for users to scroll through to find the link they are looking for
