Supressing inactive portfolios and inactive collections from the discovery layer.
It would less confusing to our patrons if we could suppress the display of inactive portfolios/collections or remove them entirely from our catalog. Patrons see them and wonder why they aren't available, since they still see the record in Primo. Also there are electronic CZ records that creep into our catalog and link, but we are not subscribed so the link is dead. It would greatly help us out if we could remove or suppress them. Thank you.
Thank you for raising this idea. This is now part of Primo VE January 2020 release where we highlighted “Improved Handling of Suppressed Records”

Dana - I think the issue is, you can deactivate a portfolio and the service does NOT show up in Primo, but if you do not also suppress the associated electronic title (after ensuring no other portfolios are 'attached' to that bibliographic record), the bib record still displays in Primo, but does not offer the patron any type of access. These two entities are controlled separately in Alma, but both are activated at the same time. You should have the option to deactivate the portfolio and then be asked if you want to also suppress the bib record if no other portfolio is related to it; and should the portfolio be re-activated, then if the bib record is suppressed, it should trigger a message to that effect or just un-suppress it. Does that make sense? I was going to suggest that as an idea, but I think Leona Hughes is trying to make this point. I discussed this at Knowledge days in May 2019 with Kevin Lane-Cummings. I cannot find any other idea exchange entry that matches this concept

Hello,
inactive portfolios/collections should not be published to Primo.
Are you using using Primo or PrimoVE?
I suggest that you open a salesforce case with the specific details as clearly something is not functioning as expected, we will look into the details and respond accordingly.
Regards
Dana
