In support of this idea, we have found the need for making more metadata fields facetable as well. For example, we often need the ability to facet search results by specific role. Faculty have asked for ability to view which ETDs on which they served as role of advisor or committee member. Specifically, this indicates a need to be able to facet by contributor role. Currently there is only a facet for researchers when searching. More/any Esploro metadata fields as facets is a great need.
I agree. Give faculty members the option to list ETDs they were advisors or committee members for on their faculty profiles, or at least to list how many they’ve been on advisory boards for (i.e. “10 advisory positions on graduate theses” etc.). Currently without this metric available, the statistics are incomplete and faculty members cannot create a comprehensive portfolio of their work. Faculty are able to manually add these under Activities, but it should automatically populate for them under Activities when an ETD is published where they are listed as advisor or committee member, especially since listing the name seems to connect the ETD to their researcher profile on the back end.
