Thank you for posting this idea. We will check the option to add such capability for Primo VE forms
Thanks for the idea, François. I agree - mandatory fields will be helpful for processing the requests. Often users will only fill out cursory information which can make it difficult to know exactly what they need. We have tried to "fool" the request form in the past by adding an asterisk at the beginning of the field (making it seem like the field is mandatory), but this isn't good practice. It would be more flexible if each institution could determine which fields should be mandatory.
This is an excellent idea, and I sincerely hope ExLibris implements this. Currently, in Primo BO users can utilize multiple fields and subfields from the MARC records to configure resource types. In Primo VE, it is currently only possible to utilize one subfield from one MARC field for creating new local resource types. This forces the user to essentially add a 9xx field with a pre-mapped subfield that matches a local resource type. We just spent two months re-mapping our resource types from Primo BO to Primo VE, and we still don't have it quite right due to the complexities of MARC data and the limitations of the tools at our disposal in Alma. Having the functionality that Emma describes will make it worlds easier for sites to map new local resource types, and also make it much more attractive for sites to switch from Primo BO to Primo VE.
In addition - I hope ExLibris considers making this more flexible/powerful by allowing the *entire* MARC record to be made available for resource type mapping. There are cases where we need to consider other fields as the 300, 5xx, 8xx, 9xx, etc. and not just the LDR and fixed data fields.
As others have mentioned, most of our staff who work with Import Profiles are in the Cataloging Unit and should not have access to configuration. Having a separate role for Import Profiles would solve the problem of simply telling them, "don't touch anything else!"
I just used my last three votes on this idea. I also agree with Simon that it should be expanded to merge and Indication rules as well. The Cataloger role is one that we have to apply widely to students, and they certainly do NOT need access to the rules. In addition, most staff do not need access either. For us, we would be much happier if these rules were accessible via the Catalog Manager and Catalog Administrator roles only (not Cataloger).
Hi everyone. This will be considered. First a comment and a question.
Regarding “how about offering a drop-down list where users can choose a certain day of the month for report delivery”.
This will not happen. Jobs of this nature need to be scheduled so that resources can be properly distributed.
Regarding adding additional time, that may happen. Now a scheduled report has the following possible options. What would you like to see added and or changed?
