Don't automatically import subject headings as tags
Subject headings from Proquest and other databases are automatically imported as "tags." This clutters up the interface, and makes it hard for users to add their own tags.
I am happy to update that this was done as part of the September release. Users can select if to include tags when importing references or not. Read more here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Release_Notes/RefWorks_Release_Information/070_2021_RefWorks_Release_Information

I strongly agree with the concerns about automatic tags with inability to bulk delete. This is my #1 reason for not using RefWorks over alternatives.

Many users find the tags (especially those added by other users, not the subject terms from databases) annoying. There should be a way to hide them from Normal view. At the very least, be able to move them to the bottom of a record (on the right side, when a record selected)

Yes please!!! If you are working with more than 10 references it is beyond time consuming to have to delete tags from each individual reference. Especially because you can't just delete from the display, but you have to go in to "edit" and "save" each reference. This is very inefficient (and annoying). There should be a "Manage Tags" section where you can create/delete tags overall.

Yes. This is still an issue. When tags are automatically imported, without any way to remove them, they make the entire tag list meaningless and inefficient. Allowing users to hover and right click to remove a tag, or edit the tag list, or turn off "automatic import" of tags would be very helpful.

It would be useful to be able to delete tags at a top level from the master list that appears on the left hand column of RefWorks in addition to the current feature where you are able to delete tags from individual records.

I should have clarified - tags attached to references themselves can be deleted: it's the global tag list in the L.H. pane I need to be able to rationalise.

Strongly seconded - I have many tags which have been automatically imported, most of which are irrelevant to my thesis bibliography and just get in the way, making the tag list very tedious to use: I want to delete the superfluous ones, but am not able to find a way to do that, even singly. Presumably they are kept in a database, and so I would have thought that an implementation of tag deletion within RefWorks should be relatively easy to do.

Agreed - enhanced ability to delete imported tags would be helpful

Agreed - having subject headings imported from databases renders them unusable. And there is no bulk delete option!
