← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    American Welding Society eBooks is available through the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Digital Collection. The page for the books is below:

    ALMA does not have a collection for these books nor do the books seem to be available through other ASME collections in ALMA.

    Hello,

    Apologies for the delay in my response.

    We will reach out to the provider and ask for the title list.

    If we use the title list you provided, we will not be able to create this as an automatically updated collection, and it will be configured as "managed by community". So we prefer to ask the provider for an updated title location that can be automated.

  3. Taylor & Francis Psychology Archive 2024

    There is a collection for the Taylor & Francis Psychology Archive 2023, but not one for 2024. Will a 2024 one be forthcoming? Depending on which year you buy the archive, the title list could be different.

  4. Oxford Scholarship Online Yearly subject specific collections for years prior to 2022

    Most of the Oxford Scholarship Online subject specific collections only have yearly collections that go back to 2022 (for example Classical Studies has a 2022 and 2023 collection). Could yearly collections for the years prior to 2022 be added to the Alma CZ? We are particularly interested in yearly subject specific collections for the following subjects:

    Political Science
    Literature
    Business & Management
    Classical Studies
    Economics and Finance
    History
    Linguistics
    Neuroscience
    Philosophy
    Psychology
    Public Health and Epidemiology

  7. Add CDI link-in record records for 3 JoVE Encyclopedia of Experiments collections

    JoVE, an existing provider partner of Ex Libris, has contributed many video collections to the CZ. Most of the collections have CDI link in record records we can activate. The MARCs and portfolios for JoVE are very poor (because these are video collections, so it's not possible to generate good data from the KBART files loaded to produce the portfolios and bibs), so it is very important that there be link in record records we can activate instead. However, for 3 JoVE Encyclopedia of Experiments collections, there are portfolios and bibs but no link in record records. Could Ex Libris…

    Hello,

    Currently De Gruyter does not have a title list for this resource.

    For now we will create it as a zero-title database, which will be available in the Knowledgebases by end of July 2024.

    Once we receive a title list, we will be able to change it to a collection with portfolios.

  11. Request to add annual update for "Bloomsbury Screen Collections: Bloomsbury and Faber Screenplays and Criticism - Annual Update 2023"

    Previously, we’ve been able to find and activate through the Alma Community Zone. However, this time around we've been waiting since June for the latest update to appear in the CZ. From Bloomsbury we are told to ask ExLibris for the file to be uploaded to Alma Community Zone. We'd like it to be activated both in Alma Knowledge Base and in Primo CDI. See also case no. 06925486.

  12. Add Wiley Digital Archives – Royal College of Physicians Part I (WDA RCP Part I) for Summon users

    Please add the records for Wiley Digital Archives – Royal College of Physicians Part I (WDA RCP Part I) and Part II to the list of databases, as we have no option to track it at the moment, and we have access only to part I.

    It is not clear at the moment whether the existing Wiley Digital Archives : Royal College of Physicians" (OPXUM) available in the Client Center covers all/ some/none of the content of WDA RCP part I.

  13. Add target specifically for EBSCO Environment - Core coverage only

    There is only 1 target for this database in SFX KB ( EBSCOHOSTENVIRONMENTCOMPLETE ) and it includes titles with both "Core" and "Priority" coverage. "Core" coverage refers to sources which are indexed and abstracted in their entirety (i.e. cover to cover), while "Priority" coverage refers to sources which include only those articles which are relevant to the field."

    Can you create a new target that includes only the "Core" titles with complete coverage? Or remove the "Priority" titles from the existing target? I have attached a title list with the Core/Priority category in the first column. We don't…

  20. Add Oxford Handbooks 2024 collections to Alma CZ

    Could you please add Oxford Handbooks 2024 collections to the Alma CZ? Oxford is an established provider-partner of Ex Libris, and they offer yearly Oxford handbooks collections in a variety of subject areas. We have purchased the Oxford Handbooks 2024 Law collection, so that's the one we specifically want, but as long as Ex Libris is working on this, it would be good if all the subject collections could be loaded. These should be Alma CZ collections with portfolios and bib records. There are many Oxford Handbooks subject collections in the CZ for previous years, so we think it should…
