← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    In preparation of Duke's move from 360 KB to Alma this upcoming summer, we are evaluating some of the databases tracked in 360 to make sure that they line up with electronic collections in Alma.

    I've noticed that in Alma there are collections listed for Taylor and Francis' ENGnetBASE for the years 2019 through 2024 but nothing for earlier years.

    There is a large collection in Alma called ENGnetBASE (Collection ID: 61111082146981000) that I thought had all of the titles listed but after further investigation I have learned that it has different editions of several of the ebooks we…

  10. Request to add gutenberg-e collection to Alma

    Hello,

    In preparation of Duke's move from 360 KB to Alma this upcoming summer, we are evaluating some of the databases tracked in 360 to make sure that they line up with electronic collections in Alma. We have been doing through the databases on the NA Gap spreadsheet that Ex Libris provided to us.

    Unfortunately I have not found a better or suitable place for some of the titles within these databases which is why we would like to request them to be added to Alma.

  12. Bloomsbury Open Collection - ASID frontilist collection

    We invested in this collection in December 2023 (African Studies and International Development Frontlist) and are still waiting on the collection to be added to Alma. Bloomsbury expects this to be ingested within the next few weeks. When can we expect to be able to activate this collection?

  13. Add Oxford Handbooks 2024 collections to Alma CZ

    Could you please add Oxford Handbooks 2024 collections to the Alma CZ? Oxford is an established provider-partner of Ex Libris, and they offer yearly Oxford handbooks collections in a variety of subject areas. We have purchased the Oxford Handbooks 2024 Law collection, so that's the one we specifically want, but as long as Ex Libris is working on this, it would be good if all the subject collections could be loaded. These should be Alma CZ collections with portfolios and bib records. There are many Oxford Handbooks subject collections in the CZ for previous years, so we think it should…
