← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

**If you are a content provider, please review the submission guides for more information on how to reach out

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  4. ASM Digital Library Conference Proceedings

    Hello,

We recently subscribed to the ASM Digital Library's All Access model. There is an Alma database available for this collection (ID: 61585093310000041), but there doesn't appear to be any content included. There are no portfolios attached, and the DBID yields zero results in the CDI.

Would it be possible to update this collection to include CDI content? Alternatively, it would be helpful to have a collection available that includes the ASM conference proceedings:

Heat Treating Conference and Exposition: https://dl.asminternational.org/heat-treating/
International Symposium for Testing and Failure Analysis: https://dl.asminternational.org/ISTFA
Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies Conference: https://dl.asminternational.org/shape-memory
    International Thermal Spray Conference: https://dl.asminternational.org/itsc/

    Hello,

We will reach out to ASM, and ask for the metadata for this collection.

We will also review if we can create a collection for their proceedings.

    Kind regards,

    Tamar Ganor

  6. East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2026

Ex Libris's established provider partner, East View, has released the Area Studies Initiative 2026 collection. Our library, as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, invested in this collection, and we'd like to activate it in the Community Zone. In past years, we have activated similar collections:

East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2024, 61476607550000041
East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2025, 61820310480000041

So, we're hopeful East View and Ex Libris will be able to add this one as well. Thank you for helping us with this!

  7. Add collection for PALCI Ebook Central Subscription

Hi, can you add a dedicated Ebook Central PALCI collection to the Alma CZ? There is already the "Ebook Central PALCI/SAGE EBA" collection (Collection ID: 614940000000000191) for Sage titles but there does not appear to be one for non-Sage titles.

There are five individual collections recommended for activation in the Proquest PALCI ebooks Libguide: https://proquest.libguides.com/PALCI/ebooks

    Ebook Central Academic Complete (614200000000000002)
    Ebook Central College Complete (614330000000000032)
    Ebook Central e-Libro Premium (613790000000001515)
    Ebook Central Reference Research (614330000000000083)
    Ebook Central University Press (614330000000000093)

However, after comparing our PALCI entitlements to all of these collections, I noticed there's about 2.5k titles that are not…

  11. Could you please add the online journal Music Research Annual to Discovery

We would like to add our journal, "Music Research Annual" (https://musicresearchannual.org/), to both Discovery and Knowledgebase. Music Research Annual is the first peer-reviewed journal devoted to publishing review essays from the full range of academic disciplines that study music. Each article explores the current state of scholarship on a key topic within a discipline or interdisciplinary juncture and charts ways forward to new research. Led by a group of renowned scholars, the journal seeks to forward academic inquiry into music and foster interdisciplinary dialog.
