We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

**If you are a content provider, please review the submission guides for more information on how to reach out

  6. New source for CDI: The Conversation

The Conversation (https://theconversation.com/) would be a valuable source to add to the CDI and make available in Primo as it provides Academic 'magazine-style' articles, often in multiple languages. There are region/country specific editions of "The Conversation" so this would need to be considered when adding them.

  7. Add ISLaS+ database to Alma

ISLaS+ is a consortial ILS shared by most of Greek universities. In order to benefit from their metadata, it would be a great asset to integrate its database to the external ressources harvested by Alma. This would be especially useful for libraries with Moder Greek collections.

  11. Add Zhejiang University Journal Resource Repository to the Alma Community Zone/SFXKB and 360KB

AcadeMax is a journal publishing platform for the discovery of academic content published by Zhejiang University Press (ZJUP) and its publishing partners, currently more than 80 journals are now available. I wish Ex Libris would add AcadMax Resource Repository(https://www.academax.com) to the Alma Community Zone/SFXKB and 360KB.

  12. Add University of Toronto Press eBook collection

Hello, can you please work with the University of Toronto Press to add an eBook collection for the Press? There is an existing collection for "University of Toronto Press" (Collection ID: 611000000000001593), but it only contains journals. There are over 7,000 ebooks available on the platform, but I could not locate any titles in the CZ that direct to the platform.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  14. ASM Digital Library Conference Proceedings

    Hello,

We recently subscribed to the ASM Digital Library's All Access model. There is an Alma database available for this collection (ID: 61585093310000041), but there doesn't appear to be any content included. There are no portfolios attached, and the DBID yields zero results in the CDI.

Would it be possible to update this collection to include CDI content? Alternatively, it would be helpful to have a collection available that includes the ASM conference proceedings:

Heat Treating Conference and Exposition: https://dl.asminternational.org/heat-treating/
International Symposium for Testing and Failure Analysis: https://dl.asminternational.org/ISTFA
Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies Conference: https://dl.asminternational.org/shape-memory

  17. Add Pressbooks Directory records to the CKB as a portfolio collection

Previously the Pressbooks Directory was added to the CDI: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/574345-content/suggestions/42757319-ners-2021-pressbooks-directory

That idea includes many community comments around a desire for a CKB collection instead, with significant benefits to this, such as adding metadata for discovery and to support OER initiatives by the library.

There is good news starting in August, as Pressbooks has added an OPDS feed to their environment:
    https://pressbooks.directory/opds
    August 2025 update: https://youtu.be/45GPrE-l8Hg?si=8gPkGAKcdwueXZqd&t=718

It would be great if Ex Libris could support Alma/Primo libraries globally to add these records as a portfolio based title level collection to the Alma Community Zone, as an Ex Libris managed collection.

  18. Cappelen Damm Open Access ebooks

We request the creation of a separate e-collection in Alma CZ for open access ebooks from Cappelen Damm Forskning. This is the research publishing division of Cappelen Damm Akademisk.

    https://cdforskning.no/cdf/catalog/newReleases
Via the link above, you can find their academic open access book releases. Many of these books are published in Norwegian, a language we naturally want to promote for our students and researchers.

Please note that Cappelen Damm Forskning is already a content provider in Alma CZ. The records for their OA ebooks are available through the OAPEN (613450000000000043) and DOAB (613680000000000027) e-collections. Since these records already exist in CZ…

The books from the publisher Sidestone Press can be read on its website for free immediately upon publication. Furthermore according to their Open Access model, the publisher makes their books available for free download 4 years after publication.
