← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

  2. East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2026

    Ex Libris's established provider partner, East View, has released the Area Studies Initiative 2026 collection. Our library, as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, invested in this collection, and we'd like to activate it in the Community Zone. In past years, we have activated similar collections:

  3. Society of Biblical Literature Complete eBook packages (De Gruyter Brill)

    Hello,

    We would like to have the eBook frontlist packages of the Society of Biblical Literature (through De Gruyter Brill) added to the Community Zone.

    There are yearly collections from 2026 up to 2016, then 2014-2015 and pre-2014.

    Hello,

    We have recently introduced the option to create placeholder collections with future activation dates. These collections are now visible in the Knowledgebases, with an expected go-live date of September 2026.

    Once they are activated, I will mark this idea as completed.

    Please note that the last collection for the De Gruyter Society of biblical Literature is scheduled to be released in January 2027.

    We are working with Coherent Digital to align their collections in the Knowledgebases and Discovery.

    However, there is no timeline I can share.

  5. Add more Coherent Digital Collections

    We've recently subscribed to two Coherent Digital collections that we don't see in the CZ. Please add:

  6. The Swedish Transport Administration (DiVA)

    Hi!

    Could you please add the Swedish Transport Administration’s (Trafikverket) DiVA archive to the 360 Knowledge Base? It contains valuable reports that are part of course literature in programs at our university, as well as at many other Swedish universities.

    Add the titles to Bloomsbury Theology and Religion Online: Classics of Western Spirituality Pre-1500 (code ALOKU) and Bloomsbury Theology and Religion Online: Classics of Western Spirituality Post-1500 (code AAYII) so that the titles will be discoverable in Summon results.

  11. European Mathematical Society 2026

    Please add a collection for the European Mathematical Society 2026 eBooks. We see a large collection called European Mathematical Society Books without years, but this makes it difficult to manage when we do not pick up the collection each year and the provider sells it by year.   18. Add Newer IGI Global Open Access Collections

    Could you please add newer IGI open access collections to the knowledge bases? OR add non-annual collections for OA journals and books? In the CZ their latest OA journal collection is from 2023 and their latest OA ebook collection is from 2024. Thank you!

  19. Steel Construction Manual

    Our library recently purchased this electronic manual, which is published by the American Institute of Steel Construction, which seems to exist in the CZ. We purchased the 2023 edition, Volume 16. The (print) ISBN is: 978-1-56424-116-0. More information is listed here: https://www.aisc.org/aisc/publications/steel-construction-manual/

    This book is commonly used in engineering programs.

  20. Teachingbooks need contents update

    Hi,

    We have subscribed to Teachingbooks and obtained MARC records from them to create a collection when we set it up years ago. Recently, they told us that to get updates, individual libraries have to set up API to connect to their catalogs using software such as TLC’s LS2, Apollo’s Biblionix, etc.

    Alma Community Zone has offered several Teachingbooks versions as databases. It would be beneficial to all Alma libraries if Ex Libris's Content Team contacts them and sets up API with them, so the databases can become collections with updates, than individual libraries setting up API on their own.…

    We will reach out to TeachingBooks and request metadata for their collections.

    Please note that TeachingBooks currently does not share metadata with us, so establishing a new metadata feed may take longer than it would with providers that already supply regular updates.
